Chapter 122 The Surveillance Is Broken
Facing Gregory's cold stare, Olivia felt as if she had been doused with ice water. For the first time, she truly grasped how heartless Gregory could be.
Elaine's words suddenly echoed in her mind: "Gregory has always been different—distant, emotionless. After that kidnapping twelve years ago, he changed. Liking him will get you nowhere."
Olivia hadn't believed it, confident in her own charm.
She had thought if she tried hard enough, she'd win Gregory over.
But now, she saw that some things couldn't be forced.
Olivia shivered, her frustration almost overwhelming her.
She clenched her fists so hard that her nails dug into her skin, but she didn't feel the pain.
Lifting her chin, she looked at Gregory and Abigail and said, "I'm the victim here. I get you want to protect Abigail, but you can't twist the truth."
Gregory's eyes were icy, and he smiled mockingly. "Twist the truth? Let's check the surveillance footage and see who's really lying."
Olivia grabbed the stair railing, struggling to stand.
She met Gregory's gaze without fear. "Fine, let's check it! If it shows Abigail pushed me, I want her to kneel and apologize."
Olivia's eyes glinted with satisfaction as she observed Abigail's delicate face and Gregory's protective stance.
Abigail sneered. "Fine, but if it shows you framed me, you should pay too, right?"
Olivia nodded without hesitation. "If you can prove it, I'll apologize."
Abigail said, "An apology isn't enough. Why should I kneel while you just say sorry?"
Olivia gritted her teeth. "Then what do you want?"
Abigail replied, "You should kneel too and admit your wrongdoing in front of Mrs. Grace."
"You!" Olivia glared at Abigail.
If Mrs. Grace got involved, it wouldn't end well.
Seeing her hesitation, Abigail sneered. "Afraid?"
Olivia thought it over, sure there'd be no evidence against her, and finally agreed. "Fine, I agree!"
She turned to the store staff. "Pull up the footage from the second floor. Everyone here can be a witness to see if I fell on purpose or if Ms. Martin pushed me."
Abigail watched silently.
The customers, eager for drama, promised to be fair.
But the staff looked troubled. "Sorry, the camera covering the stairs is broken. Someone's coming to fix it tomorrow."
Everyone was shocked.
No one could believe the coincidence.
Abigail finally understood why Olivia's had lured her to this café.
Oddly, she wasn't angry.
She found it amusing.
She and Gregory were already married. Did Olivia really think a petty trick could ruin their relationship?
For a brief moment, Abigail worried that Gregory might not believe her, but it was only a fleeting thought.
Gregory usually made her feel secure, like he'd always have her back.
She looked at him, feeling warmth and gratitude.
Gregory was truly a good man. Though they had been married for less than a month, Abigail felt more cherished than ever.
Sometimes she wished Gregory had been her fiancé from the start.
Seeing her complex expression, Gregory thought she was scared and softly reassured her, "Don't worry, I won't let anyone bully you."
Abigail was stunned, then smiled and nodded. "I believe you."
Gregory and Abigail's closeness deeply stung Olivia.
She rushed forward, almost hysterically shouting, "Abigail, what do you have to say now? You knew the surveillance was broken, so you pushed me!"
Abigail coldly replied, "Shouldn't I be saying that to you? Olivia, do you really think I can't handle you?"
Olivia sneered. "Then show me the evidence!"
Abigail shook her head. "Do you really think you did it flawlessly?"
Olivia's smile froze. "What do you mean?"
Impossible! She had checked that the stairway camera was broken before inviting Abigail.
Abigail must be bluffing; Olivia couldn't lose her cool.
Relaxing a bit, Olivia smiled again. "Really? If you have evidence, show it."
Abigail gently patted Gregory's arm and stepped away from him.
Under everyone's gaze, she walked to a corner on the second floor and spoke to a middle-aged man drinking coffee. "Sir, I saw you with a camera earlier. Were you taking pictures?"
The man looked surprised and a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, I wasn't trying to take secret photos. I'm a photographer and I like to capture beautiful moments."
Abigail smiled. "It's okay. I remember you were recording a video earlier. Can you show me?"
This café wasn't busy, and Olivia had cleared the place when she arrived.
Maybe the man had been sitting in the farthest corner, so the staff had missed him.
Olivia's face changed when she saw the camera in his hand.
She rushed over, shouting, "Abigail, you're framing me!"
Abigail looked at her coldly. "Ms. Parker, your framing skills are impressive. You invited me, you booked this café. I didn't have time to bribe anyone."
The man's gaze shifted between Abigail and Olivia before settling on Olivia with a look of disgust. "I can be a witness. Ms. Parker pushed Ms. Martin and then fell down the stairs herself."
As he spoke, he quickly pulled up the video he had accidentally recorded.
