Chapter 276 He Was Giving It His All for His Wedding Funds

Hearing Abigail's helpless voice, Gregory felt a pang in his heart and quickly reached out to hold Abigail's hand.

"Abigail, don't overthink it. It's David's loss for not acknowledging you as his daughter. You're clearly the best girl in the world," Gregory said.

Feeling the warmth in her palm, Abigail pressed her lips together, and her previously anxious heart gradually calmed down. "I understand. Thank you, Mr. White."

Gregory chuckled. "Thank me?"

After a pause, as if recalling something, Gregory's lips curved into a meaningful smile. "A hundred thank-yous can't compare to one 'hubby.'"

Abigail's face turned red, and she shyly whispered, "Thank you, hubby."

After a while, Gregory heard Abigail say softly, "David said that if I agreed to get Jessica out of prison, he would tell me a secret."

Gregory slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road and asked in a low voice, "Did you agree?"

Abigail shook her head. "No, but David seemed to get angry and said a lot of things to me."

Gregory listened quietly, not interrupting Abigail.

Although he didn't know exactly what David had said, he could tell from Abigail's expression that she was very upset.

Thinking of David's words, Abigail couldn't help but sneer. "Isn't it ridiculous? David, to make me let go of his beloved daughter, actually called me an illegitimate child and insulted my mother."

Gregory leaned over, pulling Abigail into his arms, and softly comforted her, "David is just scared and trying to force you to release Jessica. Don't believe him."

Abigail buried her cheek in Gregory's shoulder, gently rubbing it, her eyes dim.

Sometimes she couldn't help but wonder if she was a mistake from birth.

Otherwise, why would David be so disgusted with her?

Gregory gently stroked Abigail's back, but a cold glint flashed in his long, narrow eyes.

David was really asking for it.

In prison, David was resting in a corner when he suddenly felt a chill and shivered violently.

He turned over, feeling inexplicably irritable.

He had never taken Abigail seriously before, but in just two months, she had changed so much and become particularly tough.

Now, not only Kayla and Jessica but even Susan were in police custody.

He didn't care about Kayla's fate, but Jessica was his beloved daughter, and he couldn't ignore her.

What concerned him most was Susan's safety.

After all, Susan was carrying his child, possibly a son.

The son he had hoped for over twenty years!

He would never allow anyone to harm his son!

No, he had to find a way to get out of here!

Two days later, he finally found an opportunity to contact a former subordinate.

He quietly gave some instructions over the phone, a ruthless glint in his eyes. "Remember, you must handle this matter carefully. Make sure no one finds out, understood?"

The subordinate nodded and made a gesture to David, "Understood, but..."

David frowned, suppressing his disgust. "Don't worry. If this succeeds, I'll give you a big reward. But remember, this must be kept secret. No third person should know."

"Okay, you can trust me," the subordinate replied.

He had worked with David for many years before family issues forced him to resign.

During those years, he had been involved in various shady dealings and had become adept at them.

After the subordinate left, David revealed a sinister smile.

Since Abigail didn't want to settle things privately, she couldn't blame him for being ruthless!

After leaving the police station, Abigail cried in Gregory's arms for a long time until she was exhausted and gradually fell asleep.

Even in her sleep, Abigail occasionally sobbed.

Gregory gently kissed the corners of Abigail's red eyes, then started the car and took her home.

He carried Abigail from the car to the soft bed, then quietly left for the study.

Thinking of David, he frowned and called Leo. "Look into Michelle. The more detailed, the better."

Leo was surprised that Gregory would investigate Michelle and couldn't help but ask softly, "Mr. White, did you get Mrs. White's consent for this?"

Everyone knew Gregory was a henpecked husband, and Abigail had the final say at home.

If things went wrong, Leo couldn't bear the consequences.

Gregory's lips curled into a cold smile. "Leo, you're getting bolder, daring to defy me?"

Even through the phone, Leo could feel Gregory's pressure.

He shivered and quickly pledged his loyalty. "Mr. White, I'm just being cautious. If Mrs. White finds out, you'll be in trouble, and I'll suffer too."

Gregory fell silent.

"This month's salary will be doubled," he finally said.

Leo's eyes lit up, but he pretended to be hesitant. "The risk is too high."

"Triple," Gregory said.

Leo gripped his phone excitedly, wanting to scream to release his excitement.

But he knew if he did, he would be finished.

So, he forced a difficult expression. "Well..."

"Do it or not. If not, I'll find someone else." Gregory coldly laughed and was about to hang up.

Leo panicked and quickly stopped him. "Mr. White, I'm sorry. I really know I was wrong. Triple salary, I'll do it!"

He was giving it his all for his wedding funds!

After hanging up, Gregory sat at his desk, looking serious.

After a long time, he picked up his phone and made another call. "Henry, do you have connections at the police station? Let them know I want David to suffer."

Henry was surprised. He hadn't seen Gregory so murderous in a long time.

"What happened? Did David upset Abigail again?" Henry asked.

"Don't ask so many questions. Just do it," Gregory said.

Henry sighed. "Alright, what's in it for me?"

Gregory said, "What do you want?"

Henry said, "Our company is investing in a new project, but many companies think the risk is too high and won't invest."

"I'll invest $200 million." Gregory didn't hesitate.

Henry excitedly slapped the table. "That's Gregory for you. Don't worry, I'll make sure your request is handled perfectly!"
