Chapter 425 Pregnant with Twins!
The pregnancy test results came back quickly. Abigail and Tricia had cross-checked to save time.
Abigail's ultrasound results were also ready soon, and the doctor smiled warmly. "Everything looks great. Both babies are doing well. They're approaching four months, so you can start early education and prenatal yoga. Aerobic exercise will be very beneficial for their development."
"Okay, thank you, doctor. We'll remember that. Wait, both?" Abigail's eyes widened in disbelief.
Even Gregory seemed stunned. "Are you sure there's no mistake?"
The doctor gave them a puzzled look. "How could I be mistaken about this? No doubt about it—Mrs. White is carrying twins. Her body is slightly weaker, so the slower development made it harder to detect earlier."
Abigail clutched Gregory's sleeve tightly and looked up at him, her voice trembling. "Honey, we have two babies!"
Gregory swallowed hard, his voice hoarse with emotion, as he pulled Abigail into his arms.
His embrace was gentle, as if holding something fragile, and his tone softened. "Honey, thank you. You've worked so hard."
Seeing Abigail's slightly reddened eyes, Gregory bent down, kissed her forehead, and smiled. "Alright, don't cry. This is wonderful news."
Abigail chuckled softly, rubbing her eyes as she whispered, "I'm not crying, just a little excited."
The doctor coughed lightly to interrupt the tender moment, "Having twins is exciting, but it also comes with extra responsibilities. Nutrition must be a top priority, and be mindful of the precautions I mentioned."
Young people these days—staying up late, skipping meals, and overexerting themselves. It's not just bad for the babies but also harmful to the mothers.
Abigail and Gregory exchanged a quick glance, nodding earnestly. "Got it, sir. We'll be careful."
As they left the doctor's office, they ran into Tricia and Henry, who had just finished their appointment.
Tricia grabbed Abigail's hand, her tone eager. "How did it go? Is the baby okay?"
Abigail smiled, her other hand resting gently on her belly. "Not just okay—we had an unexpected surprise."
"A surprise? What kind of surprise?" Henry asked, smiling as he wrapped an arm around Tricia.
Unable to contain his excitement, Gregory cleared his throat and announced, "The doctor confirmed that Abigail is carrying twins."
Tricia and Henry froze for a moment, then broke into broad smiles.
Tricia said, "Wow, Abigail, that's incredible! Twins! Congratulations!"
Abigail's face glowed with joy as she returned their congratulations with a soft smile.
Henry grinned. "Let's celebrate! After this, we should book a restaurant and invite Quinn too."
Abigail hesitated, waving her hand. "No need for a big celebration. We've got a lot of work piling up at the company."
Henry brushed her concerns aside. "Leave that to us. My brother is a master at managing operations. He might even offer you some fresh insights."
Under Henry's enthusiastic insistence, Abigail and Gregory finally relented.
As Henry and Tricia headed back to the doctor's office, Gregory pulled out his phone and called Quinn, "Are you free for dinner?"
Quinn was silent for a moment before replying, "No, I've got a situation here."
Gregory frowned, his voice sharp. "What happened? Need backup?"
Quinn sighed, glancing at the chaos around him. "No, the pipes at home burst. I've already called a plumber."
Gregory said, "Alright, we'll plan for another time. I've got some good news for you."
Quinn opened his mouth to ask, but Gregory had already hung up; exciting news like this deserved to be shared in person.
Abigail tilted her head curiously. "What happened? Quinn can't come?"
Gregory answered, "Yeah, his pipes burst. You know how meticulous he is. He's probably losing his mind trying to clean up."
Abigail sighed with mild disappointment. "I guess we'll tell him later."
At Quinn's private villa, the atmosphere was tense.
Quinn tossed his phone aside and glared at the young woman standing awkwardly in front of him. "Didn't the butler warn you not to touch things in the house?"
Maeve looked down, wringing her hands. "I'm sorry, Mr. Worthington. I didn't mean to. I slipped and fell accidentally."
Her luck had been awful lately. Just when she was about to get promoted at the restaurant, the position was taken by someone else. She was desperate to earn money, juggling multiple jobs to pay her mother's medical bills.
Running into Quinn at one of her part-time gigs was sheer coincidence. But breaking a pipe and flooding his villa? That was catastrophic.
Her face paled as she glanced at the expensive furnishings around her. Every item looked like it cost more than her annual salary.
Quinn's cold gaze didn't waver. Suppressing his frustration, he turned to the servant. "Has the plumber arrived yet?"
The servant looked uneasy. "They called to say there's a traffic accident causing delays."
Quinn exhaled sharply, rolled up his sleeves, and grabbed towels to block the leaking pipe. Maeve rushed to help, but the crack was too large, and water gushed out. Silently cursing, Quinn regretted prioritizing aesthetics over practicality in the villa's plumbing design.
"Did you shut off the main valve?" Quinn barked at the servant.
The servant's lips twitched slightly, unable to hold back from speaking, "Mr. Worthington, the villa is enormous. Shutting one valve doesn't stop water from flowing through other pipelines."
Quinn stared at him, exasperated. "Then stop standing there and help!"
Startled, the servant moved quickly but accidentally bumped into Maeve, causing her to lose her grip on the towel.
A powerful jet of water sprayed out, drenching both her and Quinn.
Before Quinn could react, Maeve stumbled and fell against him.
Looking up, her wide eyes trembled with panic, her voice trembling. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Worthington. I didn't mean for this to happen."
Quinn's jaw tightened as he said coldly, "Is apologizing all you can do?"
Maeve bit her lip, muttering, "If you hadn't startled me while I was cleaning the bathroom, I wouldn't have slipped, and the pipe wouldn't have broken."
