Chapter 418 Aurelia

Caius suddenly spoke up, "There's nothing more to do here in Aerilon. Once the inheritance matters are settled, you should take Abigail back to Aramore."

Aerilon had too many disputes to handle, and he didn't want Abigail to get involved.

Gregory looked down at Abigail, a slight smile on his lips. "I'll follow Abigail's lead. If she wants to go back, I'll make it happen, no matter how tough. If she wants to stay, I'll respect that."

Caius, momentarily taken aback, fell silent. Abigail was no longer a child; she could decide for herself. Whether to stay and face the challenges or return to Aramore for a peaceful life was her choice.

Caius sighed silently in his heart. "Alright, you have your own ideas, do as you wish."

Michelle added, "Gregory, pay more attention to Abigail's emotions these days. She's a sensitive girl who likes to keep things to herself. And now that she's pregnant, prolonged emotional instability isn't good for the baby."

"Okay, I got it." Gregory nodded in agreement.

When Abigail woke up again, she was no longer in the car but in a room at the Worthington Mansion.

She stared blankly at the ceiling for a long time, unable to come to her senses, tears gradually welling up in the corners of her eyes.

Gregory walked in with a glass of milk. Seeing she was awake, he quickly approached. "Awake? How about some milk? I heated it just for you."

Abigail's empty eyes gradually focused on Gregory, staying on him for a few seconds before she threw herself into his arms without saying a word.

Gregory's heart ached. He kissed her hair and soothed, "Alright, alright, don't be sad, okay? Abigail is the strongest girl in the world."

Abigail sniffled, lifted her head from Gregory's shoulder, her eyes red. "Can I not be strong today?"

This sentence was like a knife, cutting through Gregory's heart, letting in a cold wind that brought a piercing pain.

He held Abigail tightly, murmuring, "You can. With me, you don't need to pretend, don't need to be strong. If you want to vent, just do it."

Abigail buried her face in Gregory's shoulder, her tears quickly soaking his shirt. Gregory didn't mind; he soothed her softly until she finally calmed down.

Looking at Abigail's red eyes, Gregory smiled helplessly, gently wiping away her tears. "Whose baby is this, crying so much?"

He then seriously looked at Abigail and said, "Oh, it's mine."

Abigail couldn't help but laugh at his words, her negative emotions dissipating a bit.

Seeing her finally smile, Gregory breathed a sigh of relief and brought the milk to her. "Want some?"

"Yes." Abigail took the cup and drank it all in one go.

Looking at the empty cup, Gregory smiled in satisfaction, his large hand ruffling Abigail's hair. "Good girl."

Gregory put the cup back and asked, "You've slept for so long, want to go for a walk? Mom and Dad are worried about you."

Hearing this, Abigail hurried to the bathroom to freshen up, but her swollen eyes betrayed her tears. With a helpless sigh, she abandoned the effort and allowed Gregory to lead her out.

The servant greeted them, "Hi, you're out? There are guests downstairs, Mr. Caius Worthington and Elaine are entertaining them."

Abigail raised an eyebrow. "Guests? Who would come at this time?"

Could it be Darwin's old friends?

The servant's expression suddenly became strange, looking like she wanted to say something but didn't, only leaving a sentence, "You should go see for yourself."

Abigail and Gregory exchanged a puzzled look.

Gregory said, "Let's take a look."

Downstairs, Caius and Michelle were sitting on the sofa, looking at the young and beautiful mother and daughter opposite them.

Caius asked expressionlessly, "When did you come back?"

The older woman smiled gently. "Just a few days ago. I didn't expect to hear about Darwin's death as soon as we returned, so I thought I'd bring my daughter to visit."

Caius nodded and said no more.

The woman had thought he would have a lot to say to her, but Caius fell silent.

The atmosphere in the living room became a bit awkward.

Michelle glanced between Caius and the woman but didn't speak.

Just as the woman was getting impatient and about to say something, footsteps suddenly came from the stairs.

Abigail and Gregory came down, looking at the woman and her daughter in confusion. "Mom, Dad, do we have guests?"

Caius said, "Yes, this is Aurelia Rainier, and this is her daughter, Imogen Smith."

Aurelia and Imogen scrutinized Abigail, stunned by her uncanny resemblance to Michelle. Rumors of Caius and Michelle adopting a beautiful girl had seemed unlikely given Caius's cold nature, but now Aurelia was uncertain. Perhaps it was love by association? Michelle was indeed fortunate to have Caius's undivided attention.

Aurelia lowered her eyes, a dark glint flashing, but quickly smiled. "This must be your daughter? She's so beautiful and looks a lot like Michelle. Standing together, one might think you're biological mother and daughter."

Aurelia's words made Caius frown, but before he could say anything, Michelle spoke first, "Yes, maybe it's fate. To meet in this vast world and look so alike, perhaps we were meant to be mother and daughter."

Looking into Michelle's gentle eyes, Abigail felt a warmth in her heart. Though Michelle didn't know Abigail was her biological daughter, she instinctively protected her. Having a mom was wonderful.

Abigail smiled sweetly. "Yes, our fate must have been decided long ago."

Aurelia's smile stiffened slightly, but she continued, "By the way, Imogen and Ms. Martin are the same age. They might have similar interests. Imogen has been abroad for years and needs someone to show her around Aerilon."

Abigail clearly felt Michelle's hand tighten around hers, as if she had something to say.

She blinked at Michelle and said, "Sorry, Aurelia, I've only been to Aerilon two or three times, so I'm not familiar with it. Besides, with my grandfather's recent passing, I might not be in the right state to accompany Imogen. It wouldn't be good if I neglected her."

Imogen frowned at her refusal but still understandingly waved her hand. "It's okay, Abigail. We can arrange something later."
