Chapter 186 They Are So Sweet!

Just before clocking out, Abigail's phone buzzed. It was Tricia. "Hey, Abigail! Are you swamped? How's the new gig treating you? Anyone giving you a hard time?"

Hearing Tricia's concerned voice, Abigail felt a warm glow inside.

She grinned and said, "I'm doing awesome, no worries. You know me, I've got everything under control. It's all smooth sailing!"

Tricia let out a sigh of relief. "That's good to hear. I was worried someone might be giving you a tough time with your gentle nature."

Abigail replied, "I'm not the same old Abigail anymore. This company is my mom's legacy. There's no way I'm letting David mess it up."

Tricia nodded and smiled. "Hearing you say that, I feel better."

Abigail smiled back. "How have you been? Did you hear Tom started working at DM?"

Tricia said, "Yeah, he told me. He knew I was worried about you and offered to help. I was pretty surprised."

She never thought Tom could be so considerate. It made her feel a bit insecure.

She always felt Tom was so amazing that he deserved someone better, but she couldn't let go of the warmth he brought her.

Abigail paused for a moment before asking, "Tricia, do you really think Tom is someone you can trust for life? I always feel like he's a bit of a mystery."

Tricia sighed, "I know, but I like him, Abigail. I think I'm already falling for him."

Tricia held her face, and Tom's handsome face popped into her mind, making her cheeks turn red.

Abigail wanted to say more, but Tricia continued, "Abigail, I trust my judgment and I trust Tom. He's really great. You'll see once you get to know him better."

Abigail gave a bitter smile.

How could she make Tricia see that Tom wasn't as perfect as she thought without hurting her?

"Tricia, I need you to think carefully. Do you know who Tom is? He's Gregory's half-brother!"

"What?" Tricia was shocked. "How is that possible? Are you sure?"

She had never heard that Gregory had a half-brother.

Abigail said, "I just found out yesterday. I always felt Tom's sudden return and joining DM wasn't simple."

Tricia was silent for a long time, not saying a word.

Worried that Tricia couldn't handle it, Abigail quickly added, "Of course, these are just my suspicions. There's no concrete evidence. I just want you to be cautious and not get deceived."

Tricia bit her lip, her excitement fading.

She took a deep breath and said, "Okay, I understand. Thanks, Abigail."

She knew Abigail was looking out for her, but it was hard to accept all at once.

She might need some time to process everything.

After hanging up, Abigail stared at her phone, unsure if she did the right thing.

Lost in thought, a shadow suddenly appeared in front of her.

A deep, gentle voice with a hint of laughter sounded in her ear. "What are you thinking about? So deep in thought you didn't even notice me."

Abigail looked up and locked eyes with Gregory's deep blue gaze.

Gregory's sharp features softened, easing the usual cold and powerful vibe he carried.

Abigail's eyes widened in surprise. "Gregory, what are you doing here?"

Gregory chuckled and pulled her into a hug, messing up her hair. "I came to see what was keeping you so busy that you forgot it was time to leave."

Abigail glanced at the clock and realized she was half an hour past quitting time.

Remembering Gregory had said he'd pick her up, she felt a bit guilty. "Sorry for keeping you waiting."

"Not at all." Gregory leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'll wait as long as it takes."

Though it sounded a bit old-fashioned, his tone was sincere.

Abigail's heart raced, and she smiled, cupping his face and giving him a kiss. "You're too good to me!"

Gregory smiled back, "Alright, let's get out of here. What do you want for dinner? I'll have the chef whip it up."

Abigail thought for a moment and listed a few of her favorite dishes.

Gregory nodded, called Ralph to give instructions, and held her hand as they left the office.

A lot of employees were still around.

Seeing Gregory holding Abigail's hand, they couldn't help but sneak a peek.

"Look, Abigail and Gregory are holding hands."

"They're so sweet. Some people say they're merging businesses, but I don't buy it!"

"Gregory's usually so cold, but he's so gentle with Abigail. It's wild!"

As the gossip buzzed, Gregory suddenly stopped and turned to look at them.

His deep blue eyes were sharp and cold, like a blade, making everyone freeze.

Their hearts pounded as they quickly scattered.

Gregory's stare was terrifying!

At the same time, their respect for Abigail grew.

Anyone who could date Gregory was definitely not ordinary!

Abigail had no idea her image had just skyrocketed among the employees.

She told Gregory about her chat with Tom, looking worried. "What do you think he's up to?"

In hindsight, she shouldn't have hired Tom. Now she was in a tough spot.

She had just taken over the company and her position wasn't stable. If she fired Tom without cause, it might cause unrest.

Gregory squeezed her hand, comforting her, "Don't worry, he won't cause too much trouble for now. No matter what, I've got your back."

With Gregory's reassurance, Abigail felt much better.

She sighed in relief and smiled at him. "You better protect me well."

"Of course," Gregory said firmly.

No matter what, he wouldn't let Abigail get hurt.

Thinking of Tom, a fleeting murderous intent flashed in his eyes. It seemed he needed to have a serious talk with Tom.
