Chapter 191 Women in Love Were Unreasonable

After getting back to the office, Abigail was fuming. She couldn't wrap her head around what Tom was up to or what beef he had with the White family that she didn't know about.

Although Tom never said it outright, she could clearly sense that every time Gregory was mentioned, his eyes filled with a hatred so intense it seemed like a dark whirlpool ready to consume him.

She had no clue what the White family had been through or what Gregory did to make Tom so nuts.

It took her a while to calm down before she called Tricia.

She wanted to warn Tricia that Tom wasn't as straightforward as he seemed and that she shouldn't be fooled.

But before she could say anything, Tricia's excited voice came through the phone, "Abigail, I've got some great news! When can we meet up?"

Abigail frowned, feeling uneasy. "What good news?"

Tricia was being secretive. "It's a surprise. Hard to explain over the phone. I want to tell you in person."

Abigail took a deep breath, trying to push down her anxiety, and said, "How about we meet at our usual spot?"

"Perfect, I'll head there now!" Tricia hung up, sounding super happy.

Abigail stared at her phone for a bit, then got a driver to take her to the restaurant.

The place was near Aramore University, where they used to eat a lot during their school days.

Tricia even worked part-time there, so she knew the staff and the manager well.

As soon as she walked in, the manager recognized her and greeted her warmly. "Ms. Martin, long time no see. Ms. Dixon has reserved a private room and is waiting for you upstairs."

"A private room?" Abigail was surprised.

They usually ate downstairs; why did they book a private room this time?

Despite her doubts, she smiled and thanked the manager, following her to a small private room.

Tricia was inside, munching on dessert. When she saw Abigail, her eyes lit up. "Abigail, you're finally here. Come sit down. What do you want to eat? Order anything you like; it's on me today!"

Abigail let Tricia pull her to the table and sat down, curious. "Why are you so excited today? Did you win the lottery?"

Tricia rolled her eyes with a grin. "Not quite, but it's something just as good."

Abigail was intrigued. "Spill it, what happened? You haven't stopped smiling since I walked in."

Tricia cupped her cheeks and asked, "Is it that obvious?"

Abigail nodded vigorously. "Totally obvious."

Tricia propped her chin on her hand, smiling, then motioned for Abigail to come closer.

Abigail's curiosity was through the roof, so she leaned in.

Tricia's voice, full of laughter, whispered in her ear. "Abigail, I'm pregnant!"

"What?" Abigail almost jumped out of her chair, staring at Tricia in disbelief.

Tricia was startled by her scream, quickly covering her chest with one hand and her belly with the other. "Why so excited? You scared my baby!"

Following her gaze to her belly, Abigail's mood instantly darkened. "Tricia, don't mess with me. This isn't funny at all."

Tricia pouted, clearly unhappy. "Do I look like someone who'd joke about this?"

Realizing she had overreacted, Abigail quickly tried to adjust her emotions. "Tricia, I didn't mean it like that. It's just hard to believe. Didn't you just start dating a few days ago?"

She knew Tricia too well. Every time she fell in love before, it ended in tears, with Tricia crying in Abigail's arms.

If it were anyone else, Abigail might not say anything, but the other person was Tom, a guy she couldn't figure out.

No one could tell if Tom genuinely liked Tricia or had other motives. She was scared Tricia would get hurt.

Blushing, Tricia said, "Actually, we had already been intimate before we officially got together. I was drunk that time, and then..."

That day, she was in a bad mood because her parents called asking for money. When she refused, they cursed her over the phone, using all kinds of foul language, as if she were their enemy, not their daughter.

Feeling terrible, she went to a bar to drink.

Drunk, she was harassed and couldn't resist. In her despair, a man came to her rescue and took her to a hotel. Later, in a confused state, she had an intimate encounter with him.

Abigail asked curiously, "How do you know it was Tom?"

"How could I mistake something like that? I'm not stupid!" Tricia pouted and continued, "Although he was gone when I woke up the next morning, I ran into him as I was leaving."

Tom didn't want to admit it at first. But under her pressure, he finally told the truth.

They didn't get together immediately but met again nearly a month later.

Then she mustered the courage to confess.

Now, she felt like the happiest woman in the world, with a young, handsome boyfriend and their child on the way.

Seeing Tricia's blissful expression, Abigail didn't know what to say.

She had intended to reveal Tom's true nature to Tricia. But now, she couldn't say a word.

Tricia sighed helplessly, patting her shoulder. "Abigail, you don't need to worry about me. I believe Tom is just as excited about this baby as I am."

Abigail opened her mouth but chose to remain silent. After a long time, she asked Tricia, "Do you love Tom?"

Tricia smiled and replied, "How could I not? He's so excellent, handsome, and considerate. He's perfect."

In fact, Tricia couldn't tell if it was love. Though she had many relationships before, they ended quickly, with a good cry marking the end. None were unforgettable.

She couldn't distinguish her feelings for Tom.

She only knew that day in the school clinic when he handed her a candy with a gentle look, she might never forget it.

Abigail felt complicated. "But no one in this world is perfect."

Tricia glared at her. "Don't shatter my illusion. I think he is, so he is!"

A woman in love was unreasonable. Abigail rubbed her forehead helplessly, realizing she had to find another way.
