Chapter 347 Abigail Can No Longer Stay in Aerilon
"Yes, we've been like brothers for over ten years."
Caius nodded and said, "Quinn has a good eye to have a brother like you."
Despite it being their first meeting, Caius had a keen eye for people. Gregory was no ordinary man; his sharp business acumen and ruthless decisiveness had propelled the White Group to its current stature in just a few years. With time, the White family's influence would only grow. For Quinn, having Gregory as a brother was all benefit, no drawback.
Gregory's thin lips curved slightly as he said, "It's my honor to be his brother as well."
With just a few words, Caius found Gregory even more intriguing, a slight smile appearing on his stern face.
"Since you're in Aerilon, you're my guest. If you need anything, just let Quinn know."
"For sure! Mr. Worthington."
After saying that, he left with Abigail.
Abigail was reluctant to leave; she hadn't seen Michelle yet.
Gregory gently held her and whispered in her ear, "Now is not the time to reveal our identities. Let's go back and plan carefully."
Hearing this, Abigail couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
She wondered if she would ever get another chance to see Michelle after missing this one.
Quinn and Henry were waiting at the Worthington Mansion entrance. Seeing them return, they immediately waved.
"Where did you two go? We were looking for you for a long time."
Abigail bit her lip and said guiltily, "I'm sorry, I went to chase after my mom."
Henry raised an eyebrow and asked excitedly, "Did you catch up?"
Abigail shook her head in disappointment. "Almost, I was just a little bit too late."
Henry sighed as well. "Such a good opportunity, what a pity. But don't worry, Abigail, as long as we're still in Aerilon, there's still a chance."
Hearing his comforting words, Abigail felt warm inside and nodded with a smile. "Yes, as long as we are destined, we will meet again."
However, thinking of something, Abigail frowned slightly.
Seeing this, Gregory asked softly, "Are you still upset?"
Abigail shook her head, bit her lip, and voiced her doubts, "Is that woman really my mom? Why didn't she recognize me even though she saw me?"
This question had been haunting her ever since she saw Michelle.
If that woman was really Michelle, why did she look at her so strangely?
But if she wasn't, how could there be such a coincidence in the world?
Seeing Abigail's unease, Gregory leaned down, held her shoulders, and spoke in a deep, reassuring voice, "Don't overthink it. I'll create an opportunity for you to meet her soon. Then you'll know if she's really your mother."
Looking into Gregory's deep eyes, Abigail's unease gradually dissipated.
She nodded lightly. "Okay."
At a high-end hotel owned by the Worthington family, Caius sat on the bed, staring at Michelle's delicate sleeping face. His eyes were filled with emotions as he lost himself in thought. After a long while, he tucked her in, got up, and quietly left the bedroom, closing the door behind him.
Returning to the study, Caius made a phone call and instructed the person on the other end, "Send some people to keep an eye on Quinn. Report to me immediately if there's any news."
After a pause, he added, "There's a girl around 22 years old among them. Inform me immediately if she makes any moves."
Although the subordinate didn't understand, he nodded in agreement.
After hanging up, Caius sat on the sofa, a cigarette between his slender fingers. The slowly exhaled smoke blurred his handsome face, adding an air of mystery. No one knew what he was thinking.
Eventually, the ashtray was filled with cigarette butts. Caius took a deep breath, stubbed out the last cigarette, and went into the bathroom. Those who knew him understood that he only smoked incessantly when faced with a tricky situation; the smell of smoke helped him think clearly.
Emerging from the bathroom, still damp, his robe clung to his lean body, adding a touch of homely warmth to his otherwise stern demeanor.
Michelle had woken up at some point and was smiling at him.
Caius was momentarily stunned, then returned to the bed and lay down, pulling Michelle into his arms.
"Why are you awake? Couldn't sleep or feeling unwell?"
Michelle shook her head, found a comfortable position in his arms, and asked worriedly, "Are you unhappy today?"
Caius raised an eyebrow, "Why do you ask that all of a sudden?"
Michelle smiled. "We've been together for so many years. How could I not understand you? Did you sneak off to smoke again?"
Caught, Caius awkwardly touched his nose. "Yes, do I still smell like smoke? I'll go wash again."
Saying that, he was about to get up and return to the bathroom.
Michelle quickly pulled him back, a hint of helplessness in her eyes. "No, there's no smell. Even if there is, as long as it's your scent, I like it."
Hearing Michelle's soft voice saying such touching words, Caius felt as if something had struck his heart, filling it with warmth.
He tightened his arms around Michelle and kissed her on the forehead.
"Michelle, how are you so good?"
Michelle hugged him back and said with a smile, "You treat me well, so of course, I'll treat you well too. Love is mutual."
Hearing this, a complex look flashed in Caius's eyes. "Michelle, if one day you find out I've deceived you, will you still love me?"
Michelle looked up in surprise, her cool hands cupping Caius's face. "You're not one to overthink. Are you hiding something from me?"
Facing her clear eyes, Caius instinctively wanted to avoid them.
He smiled and shook his head. "There's nothing. Michelle is so smart; how could I hide anything from you? I was just asking casually, don't overthink it."
Michelle snorted softly, resting her cheek on his chest, her slender fingers gently tapping his firm chest.
"You know, I hate being deceived the most. If you dare lie to me..."
As Michelle spoke, Caius instinctively held his breath, feeling very nervous.
A mischievous glint flashed in Michelle's eyes. She found his sensitive spot and lightly scratched it, saying with a smile, "If you dare lie to me, I'll definitely teach you a lesson!"
Caius's vulnerabilities were exposed, and the usually aloof and famous businessman dodged on the bed, his deep and joyful laughter filling the room.
After a bout of playful teasing, Michelle felt tired and couldn't keep her eyes open.
Caius gently patted her back, coaxing softly, "Sleep, goodnight, my Michelle."
As Michelle's breathing steadied, Caius silently resolved: Abigail had to leave Aerilon. A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes.
