Chapter 78 Don't Worry About It

Since leaving the Martin family, this was the first time Abigail had seen David.

He looked thinner and paler, but his words were just as annoying.

Abigail frowned. "Just as you see."

David's eyes fell on their clasped hands, and a vein throbbed on his forehead.

After a long silence, Gregory spoke calmly, "What? Not happy with our marriage, Mr. White?"

David, nervous, waved his hand. "No, not at all, Mr. White. Abigail's just being immature. Please don't take her seriously."

"Still don't believe we're married? Do you need to see the certificate?" Gregory's eyes narrowed, his gaze cold and sharp.

David felt a chill, almost breaking into a sweat.

He forced a smile. "Mr. White, please don't joke. You can't possibly like Abigail. She was Roman's fiancée."

Gregory's expression didn't change. "An engagement isn't a marriage. I don't need your consent to marry anyone."

Sweat beaded on David's forehead, and his legs wobbled.

Gregory's presence was overwhelming, even for someone like David, seasoned in business.

But Gregory wasn't someone he could afford to offend, so he smiled apologetically. "Mr. White, that's not what I meant. Abigail's lucky to marry you."

Gregory sneered, his gaze colder. "I'm the lucky one to marry such a gentle wife. I should thank you for always forcing Abigail to give up her place for your illegitimate daughter. Otherwise, I wouldn't have married her."

David, scared, wanted to argue.

He had Abigail break off the engagement because she wasn't good enough for Roman.

But he didn't dare say that.

If Abigail really married Gregory, saying such a thing would insult Gregory.

In the end, David had to accept the humiliation.

He slapped himself twice and apologized to Gregory. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have treated Abigail that way. Mr. White, please forgive me."

Apologizing to his own daughter was undignified, but Gregory was the head of the White family, president of the White Group, controlling Aramore's economic lifeline.

Even though he didn't like Abigail, connecting with Gregory could resolve the DM Group's crisis and even help it grow.

It was killing two birds with one stone!

Gregory turned to Abigail, his sharp gaze softening. "You should apologize to Abigail. It's up to her to forgive you."

Abigail blinked, surprised Gregory spoke up for her.

She felt warmth and gratitude towards Gregory.

Facing David's expectant gaze, Abigail smiled, but her words were cold. "I don't want to forgive, and I won't."

She had hardly enjoyed any fatherly love since birth.

David never liked her mother, Michelle, but stayed with her for the benefits she brought.

He showered all his love on Kayla and Jessica, leaving none for Abigail and Michelle.

Abigail used to crave his love, but now she didn't care.

David was confident Abigail would help him, thinking their blood bond was unbreakable.

But he didn't expect her to publicly say she wouldn't forgive him!

His face froze in shock. "What did you say?"

"I said, I will never forgive you!" Abigail repeated, showing no mercy.

She knew David well. He was all about profit and would sacrifice anything for his gain.

But she wouldn't give him that chance anymore. He didn't deserve it.

Kayla, in shock, quickly supported David.

She frowned at Abigail. "Abigail, now that you're married to Gregory, is this how you treat your father? He got sick from anger because of you and just started to recover. The doctor said he can't get upset."

Abigail looked at her and laughed.

Kayla felt nervous. "What are you laughing at? Am I wrong?"

Abigail shook her head. "You're right. But should I remind you why he got so angry and ended up in the hospital?"

David did get sick from anger because of Abigail.

But the real reason was Jessica seducing her fiancé, and Abigail catching them in the act.

And David, instead of helping her, asked her to step aside.

This was the Martin family's fault.

They didn't want this exposed in public, their faces turning grim.

Kayla said, "Abigail, your father was wrong, but he's still your father."

"When he was out looking for mistresses, did he remember he was my father? And you, weren't you the one who brought Robert?" Abigail's gaze was sharp.

Kayla's eyelids twitched. "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know this person."

"Really?" Abigail retorted.

Kayla's eyes flickered, but she stubbornly said, "Abigail, don't be so aggressive!"

Abigail sneered. "Am I being aggressive, or are you feeling guilty? You know the truth."

David frowned, looking at Abigail with more disgust. "Abigail, I admit I neglected you, but Kayla has been very kind to you. How can you say that about her?"

"Very kind?" Abigail's lips curled coldly.

"The man you found for me, I investigated. He's 30, unemployed, and addicted to gambling. Need I go on?"

Kayla gasped, her expression changing from shock to fear.

She had hidden Robert's information. 'How did Abigail find out?'

David frowned.

He didn't like Abigail, but he never intended to marry her off casually.

Kayla, sensing David's questioning gaze, started crying. "David, believe me, I didn't know. It wasn't me."

Abigail sneered, taking Gregory's hand. "It doesn't matter anymore. You have no right to decide who I marry. Mind your own business, or face the consequences."

With that, she pulled Gregory out of the hospital, done arguing with them.
