Chapter 152 Tearing Off the Disguise

Grace shot Jessica a stern look and snapped, "Even if they're just servants, they're the White family's servants. You got no right to boss them around."

Jessica burst out laughing, her eyes gleaming with sarcasm. "Oh, so I'm not part of the White family, but Abigail is? Mrs. White, you're so damn biased!"

"Abigail's mom and I go way back. I've seen Abigail grow up. So what if I'm biased?" Grace had never met someone so shameless. Not only did Jessica lack respect for her after marrying into the family, but she also had the nerve to accuse her of favoritism. No manners at all!

Jessica wasn't about to back down. She sneered, "So what if you like Abigail more? The White family's future depends on me to keep the family line going. Mrs. White, I'm warning you, stay out of my business. Otherwise, when I take over the White family, you'll be the first to go!"

For Jessica, marrying into the White family was mission accomplished, so she didn't need to keep up the act anymore.

She used to play the innocent card in front of Roman to seem all sweet and kind.

Now that she had what she wanted, as long as she didn't get divorced, who could touch her?

Grace was so mad her chest hurt, and her fingers shook. "Get out! I don't want to see you again!"

Jessica smirked, crossing her arms and stepping closer with a smug look. "If anyone's leaving, it's you. How about this: have Gregory hand over the company to Roman, and I'll leave right away. Deal?"

Grace glared at her coldly. "Is this your idea or Roman's?"

Jessica shot back, "We're a couple. My decision is his decision. Why don't you sign the share transfer agreement today?"

Grace's anger suddenly cooled, and she looked at Jessica with a mocking smile. "What if I don't sign?"

"Mrs. White, why fight it? Gregory can't have kids. The White family's future is on me. If you don't hand over the company to us, who else will you give it to?"

Jessica hadn't planned to push things this far, but she didn't expect Grace to make her apologize to these lowly servants.

Did Grace think she was a pushover? She'd stand her ground and make Grace cave!

For a rich family like the Whites, the most important thing was their heirs. As long as she had that, she could control the White family. Everyone would have to bow to her!

But she never expected Grace wouldn't fall for it.

Grace suddenly laughed and asked, "Who told you Gregory can't have kids?"

Jessica was stunned, her eyes wide with disbelief. "What did you say?"

Grace slowly got up from the sofa, walked up to Jessica, and said, "Gregory is perfectly healthy. Those rumors are just that—rumors. Still think you're so important now?"

Jessica shouted, "That's impossible! How is Gregory still so potent? Why else would he be over thirty and still not married? You must be lying to mess with me!"

Grace shook her head slightly.

The White Group's inheritance had always been based on merit. This was the real reason the White family had stayed strong in Aramore for so many years.

Elaine had worked hard to have Stephen inherit the company, but in the end, she handed it to the teenage Gregory because he had shown exceptional business talent from a young age.

Stephen, on the other hand, jumped into the company right after college but never really did anything worth mentioning.

If Gregory had kids, it'd be the same deal. The ones with the skills would naturally get the inheritance.

Even if they didn't have the chops, she'd still make sure they got some shares to live comfortably.

But Roman? He was clueless about business.

A few years back, during summer break, Elaine asked her to let Roman intern at the company for some experience, and she agreed.

But what happened? On his first day, he messed up the contract amount, costing the company millions.

The next day, he printed the wrong meeting materials, almost blowing a partnership.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Since then, she never brought up the idea of Roman inheriting the company again.

But she never thought Jessica would see this as favoritism!

She suddenly lost the will to argue. Some people just never listen; they only believe what they want to believe.

But Jessica thought she was feeling guilty and chased after her, grabbing Grace.

At that moment, Grace was on the stairs, and she missed a step, tumbling down.

Luckily, it was just a few steps. If it had been higher, it could've been way worse.

Abigail, hearing the ruckus, rushed over and grabbed Grace's hand, worried. "Mom, are you hurt? Is it bad? Did you see the family doctor?"

Grace patted her hand, trying to calm her down. "I've seen the doctor. It's nothing serious."

Hearing this, Gregory and Abigail both sighed in relief.

Gregory said, "Mom, stay here tonight. We'll go back with you tomorrow."

Grace and Abigail were the two most important women in his life. And Jessica had hurt them both.

So this wasn't gonna end easily!

Grace said, "No need. It's just Jessica. I can handle her. The main thing is to see Roman's attitude."

Roman was her only grandson, and she had watched him grow up.

If Roman chose Jessica over her, she'd be completely heartbroken.

Ralph quickly set up two guest rooms, letting Grace stay.

Grace hadn't brought a change of clothes, so Andy drove to the White Manor to get some.

On his way out, he bumped into Roman.

Roman asked, worried, "Andy, where did Grandma go? Why haven't I seen her tonight?"

Andy sneered, glancing at Jessica, who had just come down the stairs. "Roman, you should ask Miss Jessica Martin about that."

With that, he walked off without looking back.

Roman was puzzled, not getting what was going on.

He looked at Jessica and asked, "Where's Grandma? What happened?"

Jessica, feeling guilty, immediately threw herself into Roman's arms. "Roman, I waited so long for you to come home, and the first thing you do is question me. You don't even ask how much I've suffered at home. Do you not love me anymore?"

Seeing her cry, Roman's heart softened right away.

He gently coaxed, "Alright, don't cry. What happened? You said you were wronged. Did someone bully you?"

Jessica snorted lightly and turned her back. "It was Mrs. Grace White. I just scolded the servants a bit, and she made me apologize to them! I was so mad that I might have said some harsh things, and she got mad."

Roman frowned. Grace was always gentle and kind; she wouldn't make things hard for someone without a reason.

It was clear Jessica was at fault first.

He asked, "What did the servants do? Why did you scold them?"
