Chapter 197 Immediate Revenge
The two of them were on the phone forever, chatting about everything from work to their next shopping spree and which new restaurant to hit up.
They were basically joined at the hip.
Gregory was totally left out.
As time passed, Gregory's expression grew darker, and the tension in the office became palpable, creating an oppressive atmosphere like the calm before a storm.
But the one causing all this drama was completely clueless, still happily sharing funny work stories with Tricia.
It wasn't until a disgruntled cough broke the air that Abigail finally glanced over, looking at Gregory all confused.
Gregory felt a wave of frustration, ready to scold Abigail for ignoring him.
But the second he saw her clear, innocent eyes, all his anger melted away. With a stern face, he poured her a glass of warm water, worried she'd get a dry throat from all that talking.
His pathetic display was truly astonishing.
Abigail was happily chatting with Tricia when a slender, well-defined hand suddenly appeared in front of her.
The long fingers held a glass, leading up to a delicate wrist and a smooth, sexy forearm.
Abigail looked up, smiled at him, took the glass, and took a sip. She said to Tricia, "Tricia, I gotta go, let's catch up later."
Tricia smiled, "I get it, you're the CEO now, super busy. Go ahead, we'll talk another day."
After hanging up, Abigail looked at Gregory, who said with no expression, "Mrs. White, do you realize how long you've been talking?"
Abigail quickly checked her phone and saw she'd been on the call for an hour without even noticing.
She stuck out her tongue sheepishly and smiled playfully. "I haven't seen Tricia in ages, I got carried away!"
"And what about me?" Gregory raised an eyebrow, staring at her like he wouldn't let it go without a good answer.
Abigail quickly reassured him. "Of course, you're the most important! Whenever I want to see you, you're always there. I don't see Tricia every day."
Gregory, with his usual arrogance, snorted softly, instantly appeased.
Abigail quickly hugged him, her fluffy little head rubbing against his chest, and she smiled sweetly. "Mr. White, don't be mad, okay? How about I act cute for you?"
She puffed up her cheeks and blinked at him. Her eyes sparkled, and her pink lips pouted slightly.
Gregory felt his heart melt and kissed Abigail passionately.
A helpless sigh escaped his lips. "I really can't resist you."
Abigail blinked, a sly glint in her eyes.
Who said Gregory was cold and unfeeling? Clearly, he was easy to handle!
After finishing her work, Abigail shut down her computer, ready to go home with Gregory.
Before leaving, Susan called out to her, "Ms. Martin, there's an event tomorrow at Emerald Isle Manor."
Abigail nodded. "Okay, I'll be there on time. Susan, you should go home and rest early. You've been working overtime a lot lately."
Susan's eyes lit up instantly, and she thanked Abigail profusely, "Thank you, Ms. Martin, you're so kind!"
Hearing the compliment, Abigail couldn't help but smile. "Susan, head home early and stay safe."
With that, she grabbed Gregory's hand and left the office.
Susan stood there, watching Abigail's back for a while, a conflicted look in her eyes.
But the feeling passed quickly, and she got back to normal.
The next afternoon, after the meeting, Abigail took Susan to Emerald Isle Manor to meet a client.
This was her first time meeting a client since taking over.
The client was a supplier who had been working with DM for over a decade, providing fabrics.
Previously, David had run DM into the ground, and the suppliers had long been dissatisfied, demanding to terminate their contracts.
But recently, for some unknown reason, they suddenly started contacting DM, wanting to renew their contracts.
Abigail's meeting with them today was to understand their intentions.
Susan, holding a file and walking in high heels, followed closely behind Abigail, puzzled. "Ms. Martin, we've already decided to use other suppliers. Why are you attending this event?"
"To teach them a lesson, of course. Otherwise, they'll still think DM is the same small company that anyone can push around." Abigail's expression was indifferent as she followed the hotel staff into the elevator.
The reserved room was on the third floor. Abigail led Susan there, but as they approached the door, they heard arrogant laughter from inside.
"DM is really going downhill. Even though David was incompetent, replacing him with a little girl is just disgraceful."
"Just wait and see, DM will go bankrupt within a year."
"What can a fresh graduate do? She's just relying on Gregory."
"I really don't understand what Mr. White is thinking!"
"Now that you mention it, I'm getting more interested in this Mrs. White. Rumor has it she has a face that can enchant anyone! I'm just curious about her skills in bed..."
As their words became more outrageous, Susan's frown deepened. She angrily kicked the door open and shouted, "How can you be so disrespectful? Is this your attitude when seeking cooperation?"
The door was kicked open with a deafening sound, and everyone inside turned pale.
The men inside quickly stood up, their faces showing embarrassment at being caught.
"Ms. Martin."
"We were just joking around, Ms. Martin, don't take it seriously!"
They believed Abigail wasn't unreasonable. After all, they were DM's suppliers. If they were angered, DM might face supply issues or receive substandard products. Wouldn't Abigail be affected then?
However, they were wrong.
Since breaking off her engagement with Roman, Abigail's dictionary no longer included the words "grin and bear it."
Now, she only followed one rule: immediate retaliation!
