Chapter 224 The Pent-up Older Guy
Henry's eyes shifted as he looked at Gregory.
No way! Gregory looked like a total beast with his ripped muscles and model-like body, but he was just all show?
His thoughts were written all over his face, and Gregory caught on immediately. His eyes narrowed dangerously. "You got a problem?"
Henry felt a chill run down his spine and laughed nervously. "Nope, didn't see a thing, you guys carry on!"
Gregory turned away and took Abigail's hand, leading her to the dining room. She kept sneaking glances at his hand, her mind racing. 'Is Gregory really not up to it?'
Thinking about their steamy night, Abigail's cheeks flushed, and she hesitated. "Mr. White, maybe you should sleep in the study tonight," she suggested.
Gregory paused, surprised. "Why?"
'Didn't I just make her happy? Why the sudden change? The cold study can't compare to cuddling with Abigail. Only an idiot would choose the study,' Gregory thought.
Abigail, trying to save his pride, whispered in his ear, "You need to take it easy, or you'll wear yourself out."
Gregory put down his fork, his eyes boring into hers. "You think I can't handle it?"
"No!" Abigail quickly defended, almost biting her tongue.
How could she forget? Men hated being told they were not up to it. She needed to give Gregory some dignity. After all, an older man's pride was fragile.
Gregory felt a pang in his chest. He looked at Abigail seriously, hinting, "Didn't you feel it last night? Or do you want to be stuck in bed all day today?"
Even though he whispered, the dining room was quiet, and his words echoed.
Henry, sipping water, choked and started coughing violently. 'Did I just hear that right? What about last night? Stuck in bed? What does that even mean?'
Through the glass door, Henry peeked into the dining room, confused. 'Why did I come here so early? Why do I have to witness this? What did I do to deserve this?'
In the dining room, Abigail snapped back to reality at the sound of coughing, wishing she could disappear. "Mr. White, if you keep talking nonsense, I won't speak to you anymore!" She said.
Gregory's expression didn't change, his eyes locked on hers. "Weren't you the one who doubted me first?"
She blinked, feeling guilty, and conceded, "You're the best, okay?"
Satisfied with her praise, Gregory smirked, "Okay."
Henry, eavesdropping from the living room, chuckled. How had he never noticed Gregory's childish side before? All that just to hear Abigail say, "You're the best"?
Henry quickly whipped out his phone to text Quinn.
Henry: [I think Gregory's just a bit pent-up. Older guys are easier to please, for sure.]
Before Quinn could reply, a cold voice came from behind, "Older guys? Pent-up?"
Henry's fingers froze, and he slowly turned to see Gregory's dark expression. "Gregory, when did you get here?" Henry stammered, hiding his phone behind his back with a nervous grin.
Gregory's face was stone-cold. "When you were sending that message."
Henry forced a smile. "Gregory, you must've seen wrong. I didn't send anything!"
Gregory gave him a cold look, then grabbed his suit jacket from the sofa and put it on. "What do you need from me?"
Henry, still hiding his phone, tried to sound serious. "A few days ago, I had my eye on a piece of land. Thought it was a done deal, but some no-name company snatched it. It's driving me nuts!"
Abigail walked in, giving him a skeptical look. "How old are you, playing the tattletale game?"
Henry felt like her gaze was stabbing him in the heart. He clutched his chest, glaring at Abigail, then turned to Gregory. "What's wrong with tattling? I need to show that guy I've got backup!"
Not using connections would be dumb! He had to lean on Gregory!
Gregory frowned. "Have you looked into the other party's background?"
Henry sighed. "Talking about it makes me mad. It's just a small company with no background. I have no idea where they got their connections!"
The land Henry wanted wasn't a huge deal, but he'd put a lot of time and money into it. Losing it was infuriating.
Gregory immediately called Leo to investigate. In no time, Leo called back. "Mr. White, it's confirmed; it's a small company just started last month."
Gregory's expression didn't change, his voice cold. "What else did you find?"
Leo hesitated before continuing, "It seems this company has close ties with Tom."
"Him again?" Gregory's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint in them.
'What's Tom up to now?' Gregory wondered.
Henry tried to inch closer to Gregory to hear better, but Gregory shot him a disdainful look. Henry awkwardly touched his nose as he sat back down.
When Gregory hung up, Henry urgently asked, "Gregory, what did you find out?"
Thinking about what Leo had discovered, Gregory's frown deepened. He said, "Leave this to me. Don't worry about it for now. I'll have answers in a few days."
Henry's curiosity was piqued. But he didn't dare challenge Gregory, so he swallowed his questions.
"Gregory, I'll wait for your good news. Goodbye, Abigail!" Henry called as he left.
