Chapter 509 Almost Stole the Child

Late at night, Gregory and Abigail saw off the last guest.

Abigail leaned entirely on Gregory, her face full of exhaustion. "No one told me getting married was this tiring. I never want to do it again."

Gregory couldn't help but laugh. "Besides me, who else do you want to marry?"

Abigail blinked innocently. "Who says you can't marry the same person twice? That's how it is in novels and TV shows."

Gregory helplessly hugged Abigail's shoulders and gently tapped her forehead. "Watch fewer dramas."

Abigail covered her forehead and giggled. "I actually think they're quite useful. I've learned a lot."

Gregory raised an eyebrow and asked, "What have you learned?"

Abigail's lips curled into a mysterious smile. "I'm not telling you. You'll find out if you ever make me angry."

Seeing he couldn't get an answer, Gregory gave up and bent down slightly, lifting Abigail onto his shoulder.

Abigail, unprepared, was suddenly lifted into the air and couldn't help but exclaim, "Gregory, what are you doing!"

Gregory tightened his grip on Abigail and said nonchalantly, "Going home."

Struggling a bit but realizing it was futile, Abigail gave up. Fortunately, the position didn't last long; Gregory soon put her down and placed her in the back seat of the car.

Abigail glared at him. "You scared me to death!"

Gregory chuckled and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Compensation."

Feeling the softness on her cheek, Abigail's tense face instantly softened, and she turned her head away, not wanting to talk to him.

Arriving at Maple Residence, Gregory carried Abigail inside. Hearing two loud cries that seemed to shake the entire villa, they exchanged glances and quickly went upstairs. There, they saw the nanny holding two flustered and anxious children. Lila and Kyle, their faces red from crying, rarely cried like this.

Abigail's heart ached, and she quickly went over to hold Lila and Kyle, soothing them in a low voice. "What happened? Why are they crying like this?"

Gregory looked at the two servants with a stern face and asked coldly, "What's going on? They were fine this morning. Did something happen?"

The servants turned pale with fear and quickly shook their heads. One of them explained, "No, no, absolutely not. We didn't do anything. They suddenly started crying."

Gregory was puzzled, but soon the two children stopped crying.

Their big, watery eyes stared straight at Abigail, their hands reaching out towards her, their little mouths moving as if trying to say something.

Abigail lowered her head, playing with them, and suddenly realized something. She quickly took them to the bathroom to feed them.

Having hardly eaten all day, especially picky Lila who refused to drink any formula, the two children were crying out of hunger. Despite this, Abigail's anger didn't subside.

After calming Kyle and Lila, Abigail walked out with a stern face and took out the breast milk prepared in the morning, which was untouched.

The two servants' faces changed drastically, their legs almost giving out, and they repeatedly begged for mercy, "We're really sorry. We were lazy. We're sorry, we're sorry."

Abigail asked, "Tell the truth, what happened?"

The two servants exchanged glances, lowered their heads, and didn't dare to speak.

Gregory, thinking about how the two children were almost starved, was furious and kicked one of them. "Speak up!"

How dare they let his children suffer!

The servant hesitated briefly before pulling out two checks, each for two million dollars.

One of them said, "Last night, someone approached us and gave us a sum of money to steal Lila and Kyle and sell them."

Abigail was shocked. "Who?"

Imagining what might have happened if she and Gregory had arrived a moment later, if the children hadn't cried, made Abigail's heart ache.

The servant stammered for a long time but couldn't describe the person's appearance, only knowing that the person was heavily disguised and was a woman.

Gregory quickly called Leo and instructed him to investigate as soon as possible.

Around three in the morning, Abigail sat by the bed, unable to close her eyes, her eyes red.

Gregory held her in his arms, soothing her in a low voice, "Don't be afraid, it's all over. Nothing will happen."

Abigail sniffed and nodded. "I know, but I'm still scared. Luckily, we arrived in time, otherwise..."

Gregory kissed her forehead. "I won't let this happen again. Trust me."

Just then, Leo came in from outside, dragging a heavily disguised person who stumbled and fell to their knees before Abigail and Gregory, their hat falling off to reveal familiar eyes.

Abigail looked at her in shock. "Jessica? Why is it you?"

Having been discovered, Jessica removed her mask, revealing a face no longer young and beautiful, but covered in burn scars.

Abigail frowned. "What happened to you?"

Jessica sneered, her eyes full of resentment. "Isn't this all because of you? If it weren't for you, would I have ended up in a mental hospital? Would I have almost died in a fire? Do you know how much I sacrificed to escape that place?"

To get out, she had to sleep with those fat, greasy directors and doctors, being tormented until she was unrecognizable.

And Abigail enjoyed Gregory's love, had a grand wedding, and was welcomed back into the Worthington family.

How could she balance her heart?

Abigail stood up from the sofa and slapped Jessica hard. "So, you wanted to steal my children?"

Jessica raised her head, her face burning with pain, but her heart felt satisfied. "That's right. But also sell them. The boy would have his limbs broken, and the girl would be sold to the mountains to be a wife, never to rise again!"

Abigail shook her head in disappointment. "In that case, you can be the first to taste these things."

Jessica panicked and instinctively stepped back. "What are you going to do?"

Abigail sneered and instructed the bodyguard beside her. "You all heard what she said, right? Do as she said. As for selling her to the mountains, forget it. Send her to the police station."

Jessica wasn't worth breaking the law for.

The bodyguard received the order and immediately dragged Jessica out. Soon, painful screams and curses came from the yard. "Abigail, you'll die a horrible death! Just wait, if you dare lay a finger on me, I won't let you go!"

Abigail listened to the screams but felt no sympathy.

Leaving Jessica alive was already lenient.

Gregory then instructed the people outside, "Take her far away, don't disturb our peace."

Soon, the noise gradually disappeared.

Gregory held Abigail tightly, knowing how scared she was, and comforted her repeatedly, "It's all over, nothing happened, don't be afraid."

Abigail's tears fell instantly. "I should have hit her harder. How dare Jessica!"

After a long time, Gregory finally calmed Abigail down, and she fell asleep in his arms.

Gregory carried Abigail upstairs, kissed her, and left the room, his eyes turning cold as he made a call. "Before sending her to the police station, beat her within an inch of her life. I want her to wish she were dead."

Anyone who dared to harm Gregory's children would face his revenge!
