Chapter 406 Cooking Personally
After visiting Darwin at the hospital, Abigail and Gregory went to Quinn's villa.
Quinn still had patients in Aramore and would catch an early flight tomorrow morning.
So, it was just the two of them at home.
Gregory knew she hadn't yet emerged from her sadness. He gently pulled her into his arms, his hand softly stroking her back. "It's okay, don't overthink it."
Abigail leaned her head against Gregory's broad chest, feeling a bit down. "Gregory, why is human life so fragile?"
Gregory tenderly touched her small face and said, "It's precisely because it's fragile that it becomes so precious."
Abigail's eyes drooped, her eyes moist and the corners tinged with red, looking extremely pitiful.
Realizing the topic was too heavy, Gregory quickly changed the subject. "By the way, I heard that elders are always happy to receive gifts. How about we give Grandpa a gift?"
Abigail's long eyelashes fluttered slightly, clearly in agreement.
She straightened up, her eyes brightening. "Yes, you're right. At Grandpa's last birthday party, we had just arrived in Aerilon, so he probably didn't know which gift was from me. This time, I want to hand it to him personally."
Abigail got excited and started rummaging through her suitcase for her sketchbook, picking up her paintbrush to start drawing.
Nothing could express her feelings better than making a piece of clothing by hand.
Darwin looked stern on the outside, but his smile was very kind. He would look great in formal wear.
She even referenced some aristocratic elements to add a touch of brightness to the entire outfit.
Noticing her sorrow had lifted, Gregory smiled and silently took a seat beside her, entranced by her focused expression and finding each of her movements utterly enchanting.
This time, it took Abigail a full five hours to complete the sketch. She not only gathered some artistic inspiration but also made numerous revisions.
Finally, Abigail was satisfied.
Looking at her designed work, Abigail smiled contentedly. "Gregory, look, how did I do?"
"Mm, it's great, very exquisite, and it suits him perfectly," Gregory praised without hesitation.
Abigail happily jumped into his arms, hugging his neck and laughing. "Thanks to your suggestion, this piece came to be. You're my invaluable helper."
Gregory took the opportunity to wrap his arms around her slender waist, his deep eyes filled with a smile. "Can I ask for a reward then?"
Abigail was slightly stunned. "What do you want?"
Gregory smiled and tenderly kissed her soft, rosy lips, the cool minty scent intoxicating. Still yearning for more, Abigail licked her lips and initiated another kiss, this time taking control as she held his face and led the embrace.
Gregory leaned back on the sofa, letting her do as she pleased.
Abigail, who had turned from passive to active, was even more alluring than usual.
Gregory's heart pounded uncontrollably as he gazed at her, completely captivated.
Just then, a light cough came from the doorway, pulling them back to reality. "I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything!"
At the door, Mireille shyly bit her lip.
Abigail, unhappy that her rare initiative was interrupted, spoke angrily, "Why are you here? Do you need something?"
Mireille, annoyed, pouted. "Do you think I wanted to come? Caius said he had an appointment tonight and wouldn't be coming over, so he asked me to tell you."
Actually, Caius was worried about Abigail's mood and thought that since Mireille was Abigail's sister and also a girl, she could comfort her.
Mireille's cheeks puffed up slightly as she glared at Abigail. She didn't look sad at all; she seemed to be enjoying herself just now!
She didn't need any comforting!
Caius was really treating Abigail like a child!
He definitely hadn't seen Abigail making people cry with just a few words at the company!
Abigail quickly tidied up her messy clothes and sat upright, looking like she was trying to cover up her embarrassment.
If you looked closely, you could see her ears were already red. "Forget it, I won't argue with you. Stay for dinner tonight; Gregory is cooking."
Mireille's eyes widened. "What! Gregory can cook? Really?"
His demeanor didn't fit someone who cooked in the kitchen.
Abigail raised an eyebrow, looking proud. "You'll see for yourself soon. You won't be disappointed."
Hearing this, Mireille excitedly rubbed her hands together. "Alright then, since you're so sincere in inviting me, I'll reluctantly agree to stay."
It was Abigail who insisted she stay!
It wasn't her idea to eat here!
Abigail and Gregory exchanged a smile and nodded. "Yes, we're inviting you."
"That's more like it!" Mireille raised her chin proudly, her gaze suddenly catching the sketch on the coffee table, her eyes pausing. "Did you draw this? It's really well-designed!"
"Yes, I just finished it. I'm planning to make a piece of clothing for Darwin. He gave me a gift when we first met, and I didn't have anything good to give him."
Mireille's expression gradually became complicated, then she spoke seriously, "Abigail, I used to be prejudiced against you. You're really amazing. As a fellow designer, I feel inferior."
Seeing her serious expression, Abigail suddenly laughed. "Why so serious all of a sudden? I'm older than you, and you're just starting college. You still have room to grow."
"Really?" Mireille blinked her big eyes, filled with anticipation.
Mireille had a bit of a temper, but she was actually very simple-minded, with all her emotions written on her face.
Abigail smiled and nodded. "Yes, really."
Getting the answer she wanted, Mireille snorted. "I don't need you to tell me; I already know I'm great!"
The two chatted in the living room, and soon a rich aroma wafted from the kitchen.
Mireille sniffed hard, slowly narrowing her eyes. "What's that smell? It smells so good!"
Abigail chuckled. "It's the soup Gregory is making. The first time I smelled it, I had a similar reaction."
As she spoke, Gregory came out of the kitchen with a plate. "Dinner's ready, let's eat."
