Chapter 69 Public Confession
Abigail thought for a second and said, "I have two classes this afternoon, so I need to head back to school. And I have dinner plans with Tricia tonight. Do you need something, Mr. White?"
Gregory met her gaze and paused for a moment.
After a brief silence, he said, "Which restaurant? I'll pick you up after work."
Abigail smiled and shook her head. "No need. I can take a cab or have the driver drop me off."
She knew Gregory was busy running a big corporation and didn't want to bother him.
Gregory looked at her seriously. "It's a boyfriend's duty. I should do it. Don't feel like it's a bother."
Abigail was taken aback, and her cheeks turned red when she realized what he meant.
She bit her lip and said softly, "I haven't agreed to be your girlfriend yet."
Gregory wasn't upset. He chuckled and asked, "Then who are you planning to agree to?"
Abigail, nibbling on her sandwich, mumbled, "I don't plan to agree to anyone."
Gregory's smile grew even wider.
Feeling awkward under his gaze, Abigail quickly took a few more bites and said she was full.
Watching her leave, Gregory felt even happier.
When Abigail got back to her room, her phone dinged with a new message.
It was from Gregory: [You have 14 hours to think about it. I'll wait for your answer.]
She felt nervous and shy reading it.
After her two afternoon classes, Gregory texted that he was waiting at the school gate.
She turned off her phone and hurried to the gate, a faint smile on her face.
Gregory's black luxury car was parked at the entrance of Aramore University, drawing a lot of attention.
Some people even took pictures until the window rolled down, revealing his perfectly sculpted profile.
Gregory got out, exuding a powerful aura that made people look away.
Those taking pictures quickly put their phones away and walked off after meeting his cold gaze.
Abigail saw this scene as she walked out and chuckled softly. No wonder there were rumors about Gregory being unapproachable. Some people just had that kind of presence.
She walked over and greeted him, "Mr. White, didn't we agree you didn't need to pick me up? Why are you here?"
"Work wasn't busy, and I had time, so I came by."
Gregory softened his demeanor, opened the car door, and let Abigail in.
She nodded and got into the car without further questions.
Half an hour later, they arrived at a modest restaurant. Abigail said goodbye to Gregory, unbuckled her seatbelt, and prepared to get out.
But Gregory suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Startled, Abigail turned back. "What's wrong, Mr. White?"
Gregory looked at her and said, "I'm hungry too. How about we eat together?"
Abigail hesitated, then showed an apologetic expression. "Sorry, Mr. White, I already have plans with Tricia."
Gregory raised an eyebrow and asked, "Abigail, am I so bad that I can't meet your friends?"
"No!" Abigail quickly denied. "It's just that your presence is too strong. Tricia will definitely feel uncomfortable."
Gregory felt a bit helpless. His imposing presence had always been an asset in business, giving him an edge in negotiations. He never thought it would be a problem one day, especially with Abigail.
He sighed and said, "Abigail, Tricia is your friend. You can't keep us from meeting forever, right?"
"But..." Abigail hesitated.
Before she could finish, Gregory added, "Doesn't your school have a tradition where friends with boyfriends invite their friends to dine together? We should invite her for a meal, and I can bring my friends too."
Abigail thought about it. Aramore University did have that tradition. Tricia had even invited her to meet her boyfriends before.
"Let me check with Tricia first. She's already here. I'll ask if she's okay with it," Abigail said.
Gregory smiled. "Alright, I'll call my friends too. They all want to meet you."
Abigail nodded, got out of the car, and walked into the restaurant.
Tricia had been waiting. When Abigail came in, she pulled her to sit down. "I heard the seafood here is really good. Let's try it later."
Seeing Tricia eagerly picking up the menu, Abigail hesitated and told her about Gregory wanting to join them for dinner.
Tricia was stunned for a moment, then let out an excited scream. "Did I hear that right? A business tycoon wants to treat me to dinner?"
Abigail sighed. It seemed her worries were unnecessary. Last time, Tricia had complained about Gregory's strong presence, and Abigail thought she wouldn't want to be near him again.
Tricia, with her face in her hands, couldn't hide her excitement. "You don't understand. Being invited to dinner by someone like Gregory is incredibly lucky. No one would believe it if I told them."
Abigail laughed. "Is it really that big of a deal?"
Tricia replied, "Of course! You don't know your husband's charm. Many women are eyeing him. You should cherish him."
Abigail said, "Mr. White isn't that kind of person!"
After spending time with Gregory, Abigail trusted him, even though he still had a layer of mystery.
Tricia gave her a sidelong glance. "Already defending him? Men have an inherent flaw. Don't lower your standards too much, or he won't appreciate you."
"I know. Your experiences don't apply to Mr. White. He's not like that," Abigail said.
"All men are the same. Anyway, I'm done with men. When I make a lot of money, I'll date younger guys," Tricia said.
Seeing her getting more and more exaggerated, Abigail interrupted her and went out to find Gregory.
But as soon as she stood up, she saw a man holding a bouquet walking towards her.
At first, Abigail didn't pay much attention, thinking someone was proposing or confessing, and prepared to walk around.
But after taking two steps, the man knelt on one knee in front of her. "Abigail, I like you. Will you marry me?"
