Chapter 166 Abigail Was the Most Beautiful
Gregory leaned in. "Not to knock him down, but to make David step down on his own."
Abigail's eyes lit up. "Wait, you mean the shareholders' meeting in two days?"
Seeing her all serious and focused, Gregory couldn't help but smile. He reached out, ruffling her hair gently. "Yep, you got it, Abigail. You're sharp."
Feeling a bit bashful, Abigail scratched her head. "Well, you practically spelled it out for me. If I didn't get it, I'd be letting you down."
Gregory didn't need to say it; she knew he was doing all this for her.
She'd cut ties with David, and DM's performance was tanking. David couldn't steer the company back on course but refused to step down as the President.
In a few days, DM's shareholders would meet. David might be worried she'd expose his shady use of her shares, so he was trying to trash her reputation.
No way would DM's shareholders let someone with a ruined rep and zero experience run the company. By then, David could keep his grip on DM. Gotta admit, it was a slick move.
David might not have many skills, but he was a pro at playing dirty.
Gregory looked at her. "So, what's your plan?"
Abigail didn't answer right away. Instead, she asked, "Mr. White, do you want me to reclaim DM's inheritance rights?"
Gregory thought for a moment. "What your mom left you should be yours. Those shares belong to you."
Abigail had already made up her mind. Gregory's words just solidified it. "Yeah, I think so too. I'm definitely going to that shareholders' meeting."
That night, Abigail called Loren, asking him to bring Michelle's will to DM Tower in two days.
Loren guessed what she was up to and was all in.
After hanging up, Abigail threw herself into Gregory's arms without a word.
Gregory leaned back against the headboard, his hand gently stroking her hair. "What's up? Not happy?"
Abigail sighed. "No, just really scared."
Gregory raised an eyebrow. "Scared? Of what?"
Abigail bit her lip, looking up at him. "My mom loved David so much. If she knew what I was gonna do, would she be mad?"
Gregory's voice was firm. "No."
"Why not?" Abigail blinked, confused.
Gregory kissed her forehead softly, his voice low and tender. "Silly, the person your mom loved the most was always you."
Abigail was stunned. The worry that had been eating at her seemed to vanish.
She thought, 'Yeah, no matter what, the person Mom loves the most is always me. And that jerk David has hurt her so much before; he deserves to pay. I have to get justice for my mom!'
Thinking it over, Abigail's mood lifted. She hugged Gregory's waist, resting her cheek against his chest, gently rubbing it. "Mr. White, thanks."
Everyone said Gregory was a cold, ruthless businessman, but with her, he was always so gentle and thoughtful.
He'd never lost his temper around her. Instead, he guided her step by step, helping her overcome her insecurities and nerves.
Gregory tapped her forehead lightly. "Silly, do we really need to be so formal?"
Abigail's eyes sparkled as she teased, "I won't be polite with you. It's just a habit."
Gregory gave a sly smile. "If you really want to thank me, there are other ways."
It took a moment for Abigail to catch on. She blushed and quickly pushed Gregory away, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket, leaving only her head exposed.
"Don't even think about it!" Abigail said.
Listening to their banter, Leo was speechless.
Even after leaving Maple Residence, Leo was still lost in thought.
He got into his car, fastened his seatbelt, and suddenly got a call from a colleague. "Leo, we're having a get-together tonight. Wanna join?"
Leo shot back, "No!"
The person persisted, "Come on, Leo, you're always so busy. It's rare to get a chance to chill."
Leo held firm. "No, I can't eat anything right now."
After hanging up, Leo leaned back in his seat, sighing. He was almost thirty and longed for a passionate romance.
Lost in thought, a sudden thunderclap echoed from the sky.
The thunder was so loud it startled Leo. He looked up at the darkening sky, feeling a bit anxious.
He wondered if his request was too bold, even for the heavens, choosing to wake him with thunder.
Leo quickly drove home.
The next morning, Abigail got up early and put on a sharp little suit.
Compared to DM's board members, she was young. If she dressed too casually, she'd have even less authority.
Some people liked to boost themselves by putting others down, always looking for an easy target to bully, as if it showcased their strength.
Gregory came back to the room after his workout and saw Abigail's outfit, his eyes lighting up.
It was the first time she'd worn professional attire in front of him. Though her face still looked youthful, the well-tailored suit accentuated her figure, making her look even more curvaceous. It added a touch of maturity.
With just one look, Gregory couldn't take his eyes off her.
He walked over, wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close, his deep eyes filled with emotion. "Abigail, you look so stunning I don't want to let you leave."
