Chapter 51 Can I Get Something in Return?

Abigail's smile widened, her gratitude towards Gregory evident.
"Gregory, thank you for standing up for me. Since my mother passed away, no one has been this good to me."
Gregory's gaze changed, and he slowly sat down by the bed, his eyes deep.
After about half a minute of silence, he finally spoke slowly, "So, can I get something in return?"
"Hmm?" Abigail paused and blinked blankly, not understanding his meaning.
Gregory suddenly leaned in, getting closer to her.
Looking at the handsome face getting closer and closer to her, Abigail felt like her breath had stopped for a moment.
It wasn't until she felt a soft touch on her forehead that she finally came to her senses.
Upon realizing Gregory's actions, Abigail's face flushed instantly. Her eyes averted his, unsure of where to settle.
She instinctively reached out, wanting to touch the place where he had just kissed.
However, as soon as she raised her hand, she felt that such a gesture was strange, so she had to lower her hand again.
"Gregory..."
She looked at Gregory helplessly, and her heartbeat became irregular.
Gregory curled his lips, his voice lowered. "Abigail, I have never been someone who does good deeds without expecting something in return."
Abigail bit her lip, her brain becoming sluggish for a moment.
Seeing that she seemed frightened, Gregory felt a little annoyed but did not regret it.
In fact, when Gregory said those words to her during the day at school, she vaguely sensed that Gregory did not seem to treat this marriage as a mere arrangement.
But...
Abigail discreetly glanced at a certain area on him, and then her eyes felt like they had been burned, quickly retracting her gaze.
Wasn't there a rumor that Gregory was impotent?
Was it true?
Gregory didn't notice Abigail's suspicion in her eyes, sighing silently in his heart.
Actually, he wasn't in a hurry to get Abigail's response, but he had to let her know his attitude.
He wouldn't force her to make a choice immediately, but he wasn't abstinent, and he wasn't without desires.
He was a normal, healthy adult male, and when he was faced with a woman he liked, he would have desires, too.
Gregory hoped she would be mentally prepared.
Seeing that Abigail had been silent for a long time, he felt that he couldn't put too much pressure on her.
So, he reached out and rubbed her little head, speaking gently, "It's okay, you don't have to answer me right away."
That night, Abigail couldn't sleep.
Since Gregory was still lying by her side, she didn't dare to move, but she kept her back to him and didn't immediately close her eyes.
Her mind was in a mess, constantly thinking about what Gregory had said.
In fact, she wasn't a conservative person, and there was no reason for her to be unwilling to have a relationship with him after marriage.
It was just that she still couldn't overcome the barriers in her heart.
Before they got married, Gregory was, after all, Roman's uncle.
Although they were already married now, deep down in her heart, she still didn't see him as her husband, so it was difficult for her to imagine what it would be like for her and Gregory to live as a couple.
On the other hand, Roman had a lot more to say, but he didn't have a chance to speak before the call was hung up.
Abigail... Abigail actually hung up his call?
He gritted his teeth in anger and decided to call her back again.
But he didn't expect to be blocked again!
Roman was furious and threw his phone at Colin.
Colin quickly caught the phone, feeling worried as he touched it, afraid that it might have been damaged from being thrown.
He glanced at Roman and hesitated before asking, "Roman, do you think we should still go look for Ms. Martin?"
"Of course not! Let's go back and sleep!" Roman glared at him fiercely, pushed open the car door, and got out.
Colin touched his nose, feeling that he shouldn't have asked in the first place.
Roman was in a rage now, so keeping silent was the best choice for him.
But this unpredictable man, Roman, didn't allow him to stay quiet at all. A
fter they returned home, Roman took out a bottle of expensive vintage red wine from his wine cabinet.
Colin widened his eyes in shock as he looked at the bottle. "Roman, this is my dad's collection. You can drink something else, you can't..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Roman had already opened the bottle.
Colin fell silent.
Roman held the bottle stopper in one hand and the wine bottle in the other, and he stared at Colin for half a minute.
Colin felt like crying, but Roman had already opened the bottle of wine, so he could only let Roman drink it.
Drunk Roman suddenly became talkative and kept complaining about how unfairly he had been treated over the years.
Colin was starting to get tired of listening, but he had to chat with him patiently. "Ms. Martin has agreed to call off the engagement, so why are you drowning your sorrows in alcohol?"
Roman shook his head, "You don't understand; my grandmother is a very dominant person; she won't agree to it."
Colin understood Roman because his overbearing father was also a powerful person who always made him do things he didn't like.
"You don't understand, I actually always treated Abigail as a friend, but my grandmother really likes her and wants her to marry into the White family."
Roman raised his head and drank the last sip of red wine, sighing helplessly.
The next morning, Roman wrote the IOU note and prepared to give it to Abigail.
But he had no idea where Abigail was living now, so he had to call Gregory.
Gregory received the call just after finishing a morning meeting.
He had just come out of the conference room when Leo handed him his phone, "Mr. White, Mr. Roman White just called you."
"What does he want?" Gregory frowned upon learning that Roman had called.
Leo shook his head slowly, "He didn't say, but I think it must be related to Mrs. White."
Gregory nodded and took the phone, returning the call to Roman.
"Gregory, you finally answered the call." Roman's tone was excited.
Compared to him, Gregory remained calm, "Yes, what's the matter?"
Roman honestly said, "Gregory, I have decided to divorce Abigail, but upon careful thought, I feel guilty towards her over these years, so I am prepared to compensate her with some money."
Gregory furrowed his brow and sneered, "Are you sure this is your own decision and not a demand from Abigail?"
Roman couldn't believe it and asked in astonishment, "Gregory, how did you know?"
Gregory didn't answer his question and instead asked, "So, you plan to give her money?"
Roman felt embarrassed but still nodded, saying, "Yes, I definitely want to divorce her so that I will repay her with the money."
"Well, so you called me just to discuss this matter?" Gregory asked as he walked into his office.
Roman remained silent for a moment and said, "Gregory, I don't know where Abigail is staying. I wrote the IOU note and wanted to give it to her."
Gregory stopped in his tracks, his gaze colder than before.
