Chapter 37 Abigail's Embarrassment
The driver sat in the driver's seat and listened to their conversation. He glanced through the front mirror.
Initially, he just casually glanced, but he actually saw the usually cold-hearted Gregory smiling.
He could hardly believe his own eyes and took several more glances at Gregory.
Sitting in the back seat, Gregory noticed his gaze and glanced over lightly.
His eyes seemed calm, but they sent shivers down the driver's spine.
He quickly averted his gaze, focused on driving, and dared not look around anymore.
Abigail felt like she had forgotten something important until the car had driven halfway. "No! Gregory, did we leave Tricia behind?"
Gregory looked at her in surprise and suddenly revealed a mysterious smile. "Yeah, Abigail, you pulled my hand and got in the car. Ms. Dixon must be sad, right?"
Abigail quickly took out her phone to apologize to Tricia.
But as soon as she turned on her phone, she saw several messages from Tricia.
Tricia: [It seems that you and Mr. White are getting along well. I interrupted your alone time. See you next time.]
Abigail looked at the time these messages were sent and thought back carefully. Tricia had probably left when they hadn't gotten on the car yet.
Abigail suddenly understood that Gregory had tricked her, and she glared at him angrily.
"Gregory, you tricked me!"
Looking at her pouty little face, Gregory couldn't help but laugh.
Suddenly, he involuntarily reached out his hand and poked Abigail's slightly pink and slightly puffed little face.
Hmm, her face was unexpectedly soft, like soft dough.
The only regret was that she had lost some weight since childhood, with less fat on her face. The touch was slightly worse than before.
But Gregory's heart was satisfied like never before.
As if addicted, he poked her face two more times.
Abigail was upset by his actions and stared at him, saying, "Gregory!" Seeing her resentful eyes, Gregory knew he couldn't go too far, or she would really get angry. He regretfully withdrew his hand.
Abigail stared at him, and seeing that he remained unfazed, pretending as if nothing had happened, she found it both amusing and surprising.
She whispered, "Childish," and didn't say anything else.
But her cheeks, which had been touched by his cool fingertips, still felt tingling long after.
Just as the atmosphere in the car became somewhat quiet, a ringing phone interrupted the silence.
Gregory took out his phone from his suit pocket, glanced at the caller ID, and the smile in his eyes immediately disappeared.
He looked at Abigail and hung up the call directly.
But the phone rang again as if it would keep ringing if Gregory didn't answer.
Gregory frowned, and his deep eyes became stern.
He answered the phone with a cold voice, "Hello?"
As soon as the call connected, Roman's voice filled with despair came through, "Gregory, why did you freeze my card?"
Gregory sneered, "Don't you know what you did wrong?"
Roman was confused and had no idea what he did wrong.
A few days ago, he invited some good friends to Nightfall Bar, but the next morning, when he tried to settle the bill, the waiter said his card couldn't be used.
He couldn't believe his ears because this was a supplementary card from Gregory with no spending limit.
In other words, as long as there was money in Gregory's main card, he could use this card unless this card was frozen.
But he couldn't figure out why Gregory would do such a thing.
Although their relationship wasn't close, Gregory would never be so heartless as long as he didn't make any major mistakes.
He had lost face in front of his friends that night, so he had long harbored resentment towards Gregory.
Later, he tried to call Gregory, but Gregory kept rejecting his calls. He also called Ralph to inquire about the situation but didn't get any information, so he had been going crazy these past few days.
Roman couldn't hold back and directly asked, "Gregory, I don't know what I did wrong. Why do you have the right to freeze my card?"
Gregory lowered his gaze, and the strands of hair on his forehead covered the icy expression in his eyes.
Facing Roman's questioning, Gregory spoke in a casual tone, "Why? Because I earned the money on the card. I can give it to you if I want to, and of course, I can take it back."
Roman could no longer argue and couldn't even say a word.
Gregory's words felt like a slap in the face, and his face felt a stinging pain.
Yes, the money in the card was all Gregory's.
If Gregory wanted to freeze his card, he didn't even have the power to say no.
But even if Roman didn't want to, he could only lower his head and beg, "Gregory, I need some money. Can you lend me some first? I really need it."
"Oh? So you're not going to admit your mistake?"
"Gregory, you can just tell me what I did wrong. I really can't remember."
Roman scratched his head and paced anxiously, but no matter what, he couldn't figure out how he had offended Gregory.
Gregory was not surprised by his answer. He chuckled lightly and said, "Then you better reflect on it and come find me when you figure out what you did wrong."
Roman was desperate, "Gregory, I really need this money, please..."
He really didn't have a penny left.
That day at Nightfall Bar, when his friends found out he was treating, they not only ordered several bottles of expensive wine but also ordered women to accompany them.
Nightfall Bar was already a high-end place, and they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars that night.
In the end, he pawned everything valuable he had and even lost his phone.
He was penniless now and had to stay at a friend's place. Even the phone he used to make calls was borrowed from a friend.
"What does that have to do with me? You offended the wrong person, so you have to pay the price."
Gregory was not interested in his misfortunes. He didn't want to waste time talking to him, so he hung up the phone directly.
Abigail was sitting next to Gregory, very close to him.
So when Gregory answered the call, Abigail could clearly hear Roman's voice, too.
Originally, she wanted to teach Roman a lesson, but she didn't expect Gregory to take the first move.
At this moment, she just wanted to say to Gregory, "Well done!"
Seeing Abigail's sparkling eyes, Gregory chuckled and asked, "I froze Roman's card. He's now penniless and owes a large sum of money. Do you sympathize with him?"
Although Abigail was married to Gregory, he still uncontrollably wanted to know who was more important in Abigail's heart, him or Roman.
Abigail raised her chin playfully and said coldly, "He doesn't deserve my sympathy. He brought this upon himself."
Hearing the answer he wanted to hear, Gregory smiled happily.
