Chapter 274 Abigail Was the Illegitimate Daughter
"Heartless and ruthless?" Abigail's lips slowly curled into a cold and sarcastic smile. "The one truly heartless and ruthless, causing all of this, isn't it you?"
If it weren't for David dating his lover outside, Jessica wouldn't have appeared.
The real culprit behind all of this was him!
David was so ashamed that he couldn't lift his head, his face full of guilt and shame.
He softened his tone and said, "Abigail, I know I've wronged you, but Jessica is your younger sister, and she's pregnant. Can you forgive her and let her go?"
Abigail stared at him indifferently and slowly shook her head. "David, you don't even know what you did wrong, and you're not sincerely apologizing. How can I forgive you?"
David was stunned.
Abigail continued, "The person you truly wronged isn't just me, but also my mom."
The person David wronged the most was Michelle.
He cheated during the marriage, had an illegitimate daughter, and took over DM Group, trying to claim all of Michelle's inheritance for himself.
He was never worthy of Michelle, nor did he deserve her love.
Thinking of Michelle, David's face stiffened again.
His eyes flickered, and his tone became increasingly uncertain.
"Abigail, the matters between elders can't be explained in a few words. The relationship between your mom and me isn't what you think!"
Abigail sneered, "Then tell me, what is the truth?"
She only believed what she saw with her own eyes.
And she wouldn't believe anything David said.
Because every word he said had a purpose, all for Jessica.
David lowered his head, a sinister look flashing in his eyes, and his hands clenched into fists. "I didn't want to tell you these things, but I didn't expect you to misunderstand me so deeply."
Abigail's expression remained cold. "I'd like to hear what kind of misunderstanding you're talking about."
David sighed heavily and shook his head helplessly. "Forget it, you better not ask anymore. Those are all things of the past. I don't want your mom's image to collapse in your heart after so many years."
Every word he said seemed to be for Abigail's good.
But in reality, it was just to pique Abigail's curiosity.
After speaking, he remained silent for a moment, waiting for Abigail to take the bait so he could gain the upper hand.
However, he waited for a full half-minute without Abigail saying a word.
His expression showed a moment of surprise, and he couldn't help but look up at Abigail.
The expected shock and bewilderment did not appear; Abigail remained exceptionally calm.
"Don't you have anything to ask?" David asked.
Abigail suddenly stood up and slapped David hard. "David, you're a bastard! My mom is already dead, and you insult her just for Jessica!"
She was furious, her chest heaving violently, and her voice involuntarily raised several pitches, attracting the attention of the police outside.
They gently knocked on the door to remind them.
David, suddenly slapped, was instantly enraged and was about to hit back when he heard the police's reminder from outside.
The sound had almost become muscle memory, and David shuddered, instantly losing his momentum.
Abigail stepped closer to him, and David was startled, instinctively retreating. "What do you want to do?"
Abigail didn't answer, slowly raising her hand.
David instinctively tried to dodge, but his back hit the wall, leaving him with nowhere to retreat.
He was startled and shouted, "Abigail, what do you want to do? I'm your father; what you're doing is outrageous!"
Seeing his terrified expression, Abigail sneered disdainfully. "Isn't it you who wronged me first? David, I've never seen anyone more shameless than you."
Abigail withdrew her hand, suppressing her disgust. "I didn't come here today to listen to your nonsense. If there's nothing else, I'll leave now. You can stay here and reflect on your actions."
David was involved in economic crimes, and the evidence was conclusive, so he wouldn't be out anytime soon.
Abigail turned and left without hesitation. Just as she reached the door, she heard David's angry and humiliated voice from behind, "Abigail, don't you really want to know why I dislike you and your mom so much?"
Abigail paused and slowly turned around. "What exactly do you want to say?"
Seeing Abigail really stop, David let out a heavy sigh of relief.
He stared at Abigail and said word by word, "Let Jessica go, and I'll tell you everything."
"Then you don't need to say anything. I don't want to hear it," Abigail said.
As Michelle's daughter, she knew better than anyone what kind of person Michelle was and didn't need to hear David's nonsense.
Coming here to see David today was a mistake in itself.
Abigail walked straight out.
Seeing her really leaving, David panicked and shouted angrily, "Abigail, you always say that Jessica and you are both my daughters, but I only like her and not you. Do you know why I don't like you?"
Abigail paused slightly but didn't turn back and continued walking.
Seeing this, David became even more flustered.
He anxiously walked to the door, ignoring the police's obstruction, and shouted loudly, "Because you're not my biological daughter, Abigail! You're a bastard, a child Michelle had with another man!"
These words were like a thunderbolt, exploding violently in Abigail's mind.
She stared wide-eyed in shock, her eyes full of disbelief. "David, what nonsense are you talking about?"
Michelle was the kindest and most gentle woman in the world. How could she be what David said?
Seeing her turn back, David suddenly laughed, his laughter almost hysterical.
"Unexpected, right, Abigail? You think you're nobler than Jessica, but in reality, you're just a fatherless bastard!"
"Michelle, everyone says she's kind and gentle and founded DM, but who knew she was just a promiscuous woman in private!"
"If it weren't for DM and the inheritance, do you think I would have kept you around?"
"Every time I see you, I think of Michelle's infidelity! You're the biggest disgrace of my life. Why should I be good to you?"
Every word David said was like a sharp and piercing blade, stabbing into Abigail's heart.
Abigail stood stiffly in place, her blood seemingly frozen.
