Chapter 74 Olivia Is in Trouble!

On the way home, Abigail kept glancing at Gregory, wanting to say something but hesitating.

Gregory noticed and smiled. "What's on your mind? Just ask."

Abigail quickly spoke up. "You three have such different personalities. How did you become close?"

Gregory paused, then said, "We didn't get along at first. We couldn't stand each other. But after our eldest brother was killed by assassins, we united to avenge him."

Over time, working together brought them closer.

From initial clashes, they began to understand and trust each other.

Though Gregory's tone was casual, his words were heavy with emotion.

Abigail didn't press further and stayed quiet.

Gregory glanced at her, smiling faintly. "It's all in the past. We have to look forward, right?"

Abigail nodded. "Yeah, things will get better."

Gregory's smile widened. "Yes, they will."

Halfway through the drive, Gregory's phone rang. He checked the caller ID, his expression turning cold.

Seeing this, Abigail asked, "Who's calling? Aren't you going to answer?"

"It's not important." Gregory hung up and kept driving.

A minute later, the phone rang again.

Growing impatient, Gregory answered. "What is it?"

Elaine was always scared of Gregory, not just because of his cold demeanor.

She had taken advantage of his illness to steal his marriage contract.

Elaine usually avoided Gregory, let alone called him.

The last time was about Olivia, and this time was probably the same.

Sure enough, Elaine pleaded, "Gregory, can you come to the hospital? Something happened to Olivia!"

"If she's sick, see a doctor. If it's something else, call the police. I'm not a doctor or a cop."

"But Olivia needs you. She's emotionally unstable. I went to get lunch, and when I came back, she was gone. I'm scared something might happen."

Gregory's frown deepened, irritation showing in his eyes.

He pulled over and asked, "Did you call the police?"

"No, I don't think she'd leave the hospital with her injuries."

Gregory sneered. "If you cared about her safety, you'd call the police first. What can I do?"

"I..." Elaine stammered. "I thought, Olivia likes you. If she knew you came, she'd show up."

Gregory was about to refuse when he heard a commotion on the other end.

"Olivia, don't do this! Come down!" Elaine's tone was now genuinely panicked.

Abigail, sitting in the passenger seat, heard everything.

She frowned, sensing something was wrong. "Elaine, what's happening? Did you find Olivia?"

Elaine was surprised to hear Abigail andquickly said, "Olivia's about to jump. Abigail, you can't just watch her die. Please persuade Gregory. It's life or death."

Gregory and Abigail exchanged a look, both finding it hard to believe.

Abigail hadn't met Olivia many times, but she didn't seem like the type to lose it.

Still, Elaine's anxious tone seemed genuine.

Abigail hesitated, then suggested, "Mr. White, maybe we should check it out. If nothing's wrong, great. But if she really tries to jump, I'd feel awful."

She didn't have much against Olivia. They'd barely spoken over the years.

And Olivia liking Gregory wasn't a crime.

If Gregory was solid, no woman could shake their marriage.

A man easily swayed wasn't someone she'd want anyway.

Gregory wanted to say other people's problems weren't his concern.

But he didn't want to seem heartless to Abigail, so he held back.

"Alright, let's go." He turned the car around and headed to the hospital Elaine mentioned.

A dozen minutes later, they arrived. From a distance, Abigail saw a crowd in front of the inpatient building.

People were gathered, all looking up at the rooftop.

There stood a woman in a hospital gown, looking thin, her black hair blowing in the wind, hiding her face.

Abigail recognized her immediately. "Mr. White," she called out.

It was her first time facing someone about to jump, and it was someone she knew. She felt flustered.

Gregory held her hand tightly, comforting her. "Don't worry. The police are here. Let's see what's happening."

He had thought this was just a ploy by Elaine and Olivia to get him there. He didn't expect Olivia to actually be about to jump.

Elaine, waiting in the crowd, lit up when she saw Gregory.

She quickly ran over. "Gregory, hurry. Olivia likes you so much. If she sees you, she won't jump."

Gregory frowned and looked at Abigail.

Abigail pressed her lips together. "Mr. White, I'll go with you."

Elaine's eyes fell on their clasped hands, and her face darkened. "Gregory, Olivia's very unstable. Bringing Abigail will only upset her more."

Abigail thought about it and realized Elaine might be right. Though it made her uncomfortable, she suppressed it. "Mr. White, you go. I'll wait here."

She tried to pull her hand away, but Gregory held on tighter.

"If she doesn't go, I won't either," Gregory said firmly.

He knew Abigail too well. If he left her to see Olivia now, even if she didn't say anything, she'd be disappointed.

He had waited ten years to marry Abigail.

And if he went up, and Olivia used her life to force him into promises he didn't want to make, what then?

If he refused and Olivia died, everyone would blame him.

If he agreed and lost Abigail's trust, he'd rather not go at all.
