Chapter 100 Hospital Filled with Ten Thousand Roses

Taking a deep breath, Brooklyn took off her coat and hung it on the rack, then started cleaning the room. She cleared away the withered flowers and leaves, emptied the water, mopped the floor, scrubbed the floor, and cleaned out the leftovers in the fridge. After a busy session, she managed to fill two large bags of trash.

After placing the trash outside the door, she changed the bed sheets, pillowcases, and bed linens to clean ones.

The dirty set was put into the washing machine. Brooklyn stood with her hands on her hips, looking at the freshly cleaned room, finally feeling satisfied.

Grabbing her bag and changing her shoes, she carried the trash downstairs.

She first went to the supermarket to buy groceries to fill the fridge. On a whim, she also bought a few bottles of brightly colored cocktails. Carrying the heavy shopping bag, she passed by a flower cart on the way home.

The cart was filled with roses, lilies, tulips, and carnations, and the scents and colors mixed, creating a warm spring scene. "Miss, buy a few bouquets. I'll give you a discount," the flower vendor said.

Brooklyn chose a few lilies and tulips but didn't buy any roses. When she was checking out, she didn't haggle over the price. The flower vendor smiled and handed her two roses, saying, "Miss, these are for you. Roses are best bought to give to others; otherwise, you should wait for someone to give them to you."

After thanking her, Brooklyn walked home unsteadily, carrying the shopping bag in one hand and the flowers in the other.

Roses, to give or to wait for someone to give?

Brooklyn couldn't help but laugh; she had never been given roses in her life.

On her way back home, Brooklyn felt like someone was following her. A figure seemed to be tailing her, matching her pace, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. It was obvious that the person was targeting her!

Brooklyn's heart tightened. Was it the same person as last time?

Who were they, and how could they find her wherever she went?

Running was not an option; she still had a distance to go before reaching home. Brooklyn came up with a plan. Putting down the shopping bag, she took out her phone and pretended to answer a call, speaking loudly, "I'm almost there. You're right in front? Hurry up and come pick me up. My arms are about to break. Hurry, hurry, run over!"

With her shout, the shadow lurking in the darkness stopped moving. Brooklyn picked up the shopping bag again and walked briskly home. When she got back, she leaned against the door, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, feeling the lingering fear from the recent encounter. It was too thrilling and terrifying; it almost scared her soul away.

Who was following her? She had to find out; otherwise, when would these nerve-wracking days end?

She put the flowers in a vase and was about to get the clean bed sheets when her phone rang, startling her almost to the ground!

On the screen, Sebastian's name flashed.

"Hello," she answered calmly.

"Why haven't you come back yet?" Sebastian's question was as blunt as ever.

With her phone on her shoulder, Brooklyn pulled out the bed sheets and covers, preparing to air them out. "I moved back to my original place. Quinn probably won't go to the villa anymore, so there's no need for us to continue the charade."

Sebastian, standing alone in the spacious living room, furrowed his brows deeply. When he returned home from work, he couldn't find anyone around, and she had taken her personal belongings with her. The whole house suddenly lost its liveliness.

"Who allowed you to go back? Come back immediately." Sebastian demanded.

Brooklyn chuckled lightly, spreading out the bed sheets on a hanger. "Mr. Kingsley, why bother? While I'm away, it gives you some private space."

Sebastian was annoyed. "Brooklyn, you still don't understand that angering me serves you no good."

With a bang, Sebastian threw his phone on the sofa. The screen was still lit, and the call had not been disconnected.

Brooklyn frowned. Was he arguing with Megan, or was he frustrated with the Kingsley family? Why was he so angry?

In Brooklyn's mind, Sebastian would never be angry with her because she wasn't worth his anger.

After hanging all the cleaned items on the balcony, feeling a bit hungry, she prepared dinner for herself.

She tried on an apron. Within half an hour, a pizza was on the table.

Sitting at the dining table, looking at the empty seat across from her, Brooklyn felt a wave of loneliness.

They had breakfast face-to-face a few times, and now, eating alone, the food tasted bland.

She wondered if he had dinner. What did he eat? The villa's fridge was empty. Would that cold and aloof man cook?

Impossible!

It was ridiculous that she was still thinking about him.

After a few bites, she felt full.

The next day, when she arrived at the hospital for work, as soon as she stepped into the lobby on the first floor, a large group of doctors and nurses were running frantically in one direction.

"How romantic! Mr. Kingsley is truly remarkable! Such a grand gesture!"

"So touching! Such a lavish display!"

"I heard there are over ten thousand roses! How much money must that cost?"

"I can't handle this, my heart!"

Similar exclamations kept coming from the crowd.

Brooklyn couldn't help but squint. Sebastian was here? Well, it wasn't surprising since Megan was hospitalized here, and Sebastian coming to visit her was expected.

But was it necessary? Every time he came, it had to be a big show, as if he were afraid others wouldn't know he was personally present.

How superficial!

As she walked forward along with the crowd, ready to take the elevator, she found herself blocked at the corridor entrance, surrounded by a sea of people. The room was filled with screams and gasps.

Her gaze passed through the dense crowd, and she saw a vast expanse of rose red, an endless stretch of red.

The long corridor was completely filled with roses, the petals extending endlessly, with no end in sight.
