Chapter 403 Pursuing You Is My Unilateral Decision
The board meeting that gave Leon a headache finally ended.
He sat in his office, feeling a bit tired, pondering how to handle the recent stock price crash.
It was clear that the Taylor Group's stock price was closely tied to Blue Sky International Group. Any change in Scarlett and Kevin's relationship would immediately affect the Taylor Group.
Blue Sky International Group's control over the Taylor Group was more severe than he had imagined.
Thus, Leon felt a serious crisis.
At this moment, his private phone rang.
As expected, but still somewhat surprised, it was Kevin calling.
Leon took a sip of water, adjusted his breathing, and then answered, "Kevin."
Kevin stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of his office, overlooking half of Emporcia, with its bustling traffic and extravagant lifestyle. "Mr. Taylor, I just saw the Taylor Group's stock price. How did this happen? The Taylor Group's stock has always been stable. I'm very surprised by this. Is there a problem with the funds I invested? Do you need me to invest more?"
Over the years, Blue Sky International Group had frequently invested to the Taylor Group, timely helping the Taylor Group avoid many crises. However, this also made the Taylor Group increasingly dependent on Blue Sky International Group and the King family.
Leon frowned, trying to smile, "No need, it's just a small issue. I can handle it."
Kevin found it strange. Hadn't Leon seen the news?
He continued to ask politely, "Mr. Taylor, the King family and the Taylor Group have always had a pleasant cooperation. If the Taylor Group has any problems, the King family and I should fully support you. Please don't hesitate to ask."
"Of course, I know very well what the King family has done for the Taylor Group over the years." Leon smiled.
Kevin chuckled, "Mr. Taylor, how is Scarlett doing in Libertya recently? When I call her, she seems to be very busy. I feel very concerned for her."
As expected, the topic shifted to Scarlett.
Kevin was undoubtedly very smart. He wouldn't proactively mention Scarlett's faults. His generosity and tolerance moved Leon.
At the same time, Kevin's deliberate retreat made Leon realize that Kevin was indeed unfathomable.
"Scarlett has started working at the hospital, so she's probably very busy. Even I, as her father, rarely get in touch with her."
"Mr. Taylor, Scarlett and I are about to get married. I can't bear to see my wife working so hard. It's better for her to return to Averlake sooner, so we can settle down after we get married."
In that case, Kevin, Scarlett, and the Taylor Group would all become stable.
Holding his forehead, Leon felt the pressure and the severity of the situation. If Scarlett's negative news spread, it would greatly impact her career and have significant repercussions for both the Taylor and King families.
How could Scarlett be so careless?
"Mr. Taylor, Scarlett and I are at the age to marry, and you know my feelings for her. I will cherish her and do everything I can to give her what she wants. I will never allow anyone to harm her."
The previous conversation was still about interests, but this sentence was truly the last straw. He could no longer refuse.
After hanging up the phone, Leon sat in his chair, feeling a bit unsettled.
When Scarlett woke up, it was already the next morning. She didn't expect to have slept for so long that night.
Her last memory was in Sebastian's car. She fell asleep, and then there was a blank.
But now, she was lying in her own bed.
Startled, she quickly looked down, lifted the blanket, and breathed a sigh of relief. Her clothes were still on, only her shoes had been taken off. Scarlett rubbed her hair. Damn, why was her sense of vigilance so poor now?
After taking a shower and washing her hair, Scarlett changed her clothes, wrapped her wet hair in a towel, and walked down the stairs. As she reached the staircase, she smelled a fresh aroma of food.
The food was completely different from the bland food in Averlake. The sumptuous meal made her appetite soar early in the morning, and she couldn't help but swallow, realizing she was really hungry.
Sebastian came out of the kitchen with the last dish. He held the plate with one hand, which contained brightly colored vegetables, enveloping Sebastian in his white shirt and black dress pants.
Sebastian looked up slightly, gazing at Scarlett on the stairs, and said, "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"
Scarlett's mouth twitched, feeling a bit dazed, "Good morning. Thank you for last night."
Sebastian placed the dish on the table. It was still a balanced meal, and the menu had completely changed. Oh my, did he get up in the middle of the night to prepare this?
The ribs in the soup were so tender they looked like they would melt in the mouth.
"I don't like verbal thanks. If you want to thank me, eat all of this." He pulled out a chair, "Please, have a seat."
Scarlett felt a bit overwhelmed by his enthusiasm. With a towel on her head, she sat down and chuckled, "Sebastian, you really don't have to do this. I've told you, there's really no chance for us."
Sebastian's long fingers brazenly pressed against her lips, silencing her. "I've also told you, right now I'm pursuing you. How I treat you is my unilateral decision."
Scarlett felt a bit troubled, "I'm engaged."
"Even better, so am I."
Did that make them a good match?
He placed a fork in her hand, "This is my first time making these dishes, so they might not taste very good. However, they are highly nutritious and can help your wound heal."
"Will I cook for you after I recover?" She hadn't forgotten about that.
"Shouldn't you? Since Ms. Taylor awares this, please cooperate and eat more."
Scarlett genuinely felt that there must be a few nerves misfiring in Sebastian's brain right now.
She forked some food into her mouth, and the towel on her head loosened and was pulled off by Sebastian.
He gathered her long hair with his large hands, twisted it into a loose braid, and draped it over her back. "Dr. Taylor, wrapping wet hair in a towel can cause headaches. Do you need a patient to teach you this common sense?"
Scarlett was helpless"I just washed my hair and haven't had a chance to dry it yet. But Sebastian, you're handling my hair so naturally, is this really okay?"
Sebastian wrapped her hair in a towel and squeezed out the excess water.
Scarlett felt incredibly comfortable during this meal.
"Dr. Carter, it's so great that you're back! Now the patients have hope. Thank you! I represent the hospital and the patient to thank you!"
George and Lavern personally greeted Zach at the hospital entrance, treating him like a savior.
Zach nodded and smiled gentlemanly, without any small talk or pleasantries. He walked at the forefront of a group doctors, his tall and upright figure in a black suit making him even more noticeable. "Take me to see the patient and give me all the diagnostic information."
"Alright, Dr. Carter, this way, please."
Zach walked into the first-floor lobby of the dedicated inpatient building. A nurse pressed the elevator button, and Zach reviewed the patient's information. His gentle voice remained unchanged even in the key situations, "Schedule the surgery for tonight."
Lavern looked at George, then asked Zach, "So, Dr. Carter, what kind of surgical team do you want? Do you have any specific requirements for assistants and anesthesiologists?"
Zach looked at Lavern, who was nearly a head shorter than him, and without thinking, said, "I trust Dr. Taylor's surgical team to help me complete this surgery."
"Alright! I'll notify them immediately!" Lavern nodded.
A large group of people got on the elevator, and the nurses outside were buzzing with excitement!
"That's Zach! He is so handsome and charismatic! He's like the male lead in a TV drama!"
"He used to be the vice president of Aucester Hospital!"
The surgery was scheduled for two hours later, with an estimated duration of eight hours. After seeing the patient, Zach held a meeting with the surgical team to quickly understand everyone's basic information and clearly explain his surgical habits.
Lisa and Cory, who had been assistants to Scarlett for a long time, felt no pressure facing Zach.
"Since everyone is clear, let's work hard for the next eight hours." Zach's good looks and gentle demeanor naturally boosted the morale of the female doctors. Moreover, his gentleness was an inherent elegance.
He specifically thanked the two foreign doctors, further increasing everyone's goodwill.
"Scarlett, are you still busy?"
Scarlett, who was quite idle while recovering, received a call from Leon.
"Not busy now. Dad, what's up?"
It was nighttime in Averlake. Why Leon, who always had a stable routine, suddenly called?
Leon stood in the living room, looking out at the quiet city night sky, "Scarlett, you've been in Libertya for quite a while now. Have you thought about the marriage?"
Scarlett put down her book, sensitively noticing that Leon was trying hard to hide something, "Dad, why are you suddenly asking me this? I'll come back after finishing my project here. Don't worry, I will definitely come back."
Leon nodded and smiled, "It's nothing. Your mom and I have missed you a lot while you've been in Libertya. You've never been away from us before, and we worry about you being alone out there."
Scarlett's doubts grew like a snowball, "Dad, was the place where I had the accident really the Peak of Avalanche Heights?"
Leon's face changed suddenly, "Didn't I tell you? I personally rescued you from the mountain. Scarlett, I'm your father. Don't you believe me?"
"No, I trust you, Dad."
He hesitated for a moment, "Scarlett, marry Kevin as soon as possible, dragging it out isn't a long-term solution."
Scarlett gripped her phone tightly, momentarily speechless.
"Tell me, do you want to marry Kevin?" Leon asked.
Scarlett took a deep breath, "Kevin is a good man. I have no reason to refuse."
But she had no feelings for Kevin.
"I want you to be happy. Kevin is the most suitable man for you. Trust my judgment. Don't hesitate and lose a man who truly loves you."
