Chapter 211 Can't Watch You Being Toyed With
Brooklyn returned to Bayside Villas early in the morning. She swapped her shoes for slippers, dropped her bag on the rack, and went straight for a shower.
Megan had stayed up waiting for her. When she saw Brooklyn go to the bathroom, she quietly snuck downstairs, using the outside light as a guide.
She checked around; no servants in sight.
Megan unzipped Brooklyn's bag and found the gold card Jennifer had given her.
Smirking, she shook the card triumphantly.
"With Jennifer's help, this is going smoothly! I'll show this to Sebastian later, and Brooklyn, you're out!"
The next morning, Brooklyn woke up with swollen eyes.
"How can I go to work like this? Everyone will laugh at me!"
She rummaged through her stuff and found a pair of glasses. Her nearsightedness was mild, so she didn't usually need them. Luckily, she hadn't lost them.
The glasses covered half her face, making her look like a college student.
"Dressing up now, huh? No one cares about your pitiful look!" Megan sneered, indicating Sebastian wasn't home.
Brooklyn ignored her, skipping breakfast and changing her shoes to leave for work.
'Arrogant! I'll make you fall today!'
Just as Brooklyn opened the villa door, Dario arrived.
"Good morning, Mrs. Kingsley," he said, bowing politely.
Brooklyn nodded.
Dario walked in with his hands clasped, saying firmly, "Ms. Turner, the boss has ordered that you're no longer allowed in this house."
'What?!'
Both Brooklyn and Megan were shocked!
'Was he serious last night? No way.'
Megan screamed, "You're lying! I'm calling Sebastian! I'm pregnant with his child; he can't do this!"
"Ms. Turner, these are the boss's orders. Please cooperate."
Brooklyn watched silently as Megan was forcibly taken away, a painful memory forming.
She felt disheartened.
'Being thrown out like that was terrifying. Today it was Megan; could it be me tomorrow?'
"Let go! I'm carrying the Kingsley family's child; who dares to touch me!"
Megan clung to the door handle, her face pale. Seeing this, Brooklyn's heart tightened. 'She's pregnant; she can't get so agitated!'
"Megan, sit down. Be careful of the baby."
Just as Brooklyn warned her, Megan clutched her stomach and wailed, "My stomach hurts so much!"
Hearing Megan's cries, Dario ordered them to stop.
Megan was sweating and clutching her stomach on the sofa. "Save my baby!"
Brooklyn dropped her bag and ran over, "Take deep breaths, don't panic, listen to me."
"Get away! You want to kill me!"
"Listen, I'm a doctor. If you don't listen, the baby will be in danger. It's your choice!"
Megan was stunned, following her instructions. Brooklyn turned around and said, "What are you standing there for? Call Sebastian!"
Dario was amazed by Brooklyn's calmness.
Twenty minutes later, Sebastian rushed back, driving Dario's men out of the hall. He saw Brooklyn kneeling on the carpet, administering emergency care to Megan.
"Madison, I need hot water!"
"Megan, inhale... good, now exhale."
"Savannah, give me a pillow."
Brooklyn elevated Megan's legs to relieve her pain.
Sebastian first saw Megan's pale face, then Brooklyn's skilled handling. Her technique reminded him of what Brandon had said; a genius girl, a top doctor, who entered medical school at sixteen.
Brooklyn took a deep breath, wiping sweat from her forehead, "Alright, you just had a scare. The baby is fine, so don't get agitated again."
Megan was too pained to speak and had no intention of thanking her.
Brooklyn looked up, seeing Sebastian standing there silently.
Putting away the medical kit, she said, "She just had a uterine scare. You should carry her upstairs."
"Sebastian?" Megan opened her eyes, her pale face happy, "Sebastian, you're back."
Brooklyn pressed on her abdomen, "I told you, don't get agitated!"
Megan gritted her teeth, "You're a cardiologist; what do you know about obstetrics?"
'Ignorant! Didn't every doctor rotate through all departments during their internship? Forget it, I don't want to deal with someone so clueless.'
Sebastian looked at Megan indifferently, his deep eyes expressionless, "I'll take you upstairs."
Brooklyn watched them go upstairs, her legs giving out as she sat on the sofa. Kneeling for half an hour had made her knees ache.
She indeed had a severe occupational disease; she couldn't stand to see patients suffer.
However, Megan was different. As soon as she lay down, she grabbed Sebastian.
"Sebastian, there's something I must tell you."
She endured the pain, struggling as if to leave a final message.
"Whatever it is, say it another day." he covered her with a summer quilt and stood up.
"No. I have to tell you now. I can't watch you be deceived."
He frowned.
Megan took out the gold card, "Sebastian, I found this card in Brooklyn's things by accident. She insists on divorcing you because she took Jennifer's money!"
