Chapter 364 Striking Up a Conversation with Scarlett
Kelly was fuming. "James, are you trying to scare me or something?"
Ashley, covering herself, giggled, "Kelly, aren't you going to say sorry?"
Kelly lifted her chin defiantly but took a step back behind Scarlett. She wasn't about to apologize.
Everyone knew Ashley was one of James's flings, and right now, she was his favorite. Kelly had shredded Ashley's clothes, and while she wasn't scared of Ashley, James getting involved was a whole different story.
Kelly felt uneasy and glanced at Scarlett, who stayed calm and expressionless.
"I said apologize!" James barked at Ashley.
Ashley looked at James, tears welling up, "Kelly ruined my clothes, why should I..."
"You still don't get it? Do I need to spell it out for you?" James's tone was icy and impatient. One more word from Ashley, and he might just lose it.
Scarlett smirked slightly, her face giving nothing away. James was sharp and knew how to handle people; he was a pro.
Ashley gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and muttered, "I'm sorry." She said it quickly, full of resentment and anger.
Kelly was taken aback.
Scarlett said, "No need to apologize. Just remember not to do anything shameful again."
Ashley gritted her teeth, but with James not backing her up, she had to suck it up.
James kept his cool, smiling as he raised an eyebrow, "I hope this hasn't ruined your shopping."
Scarlett didn't even look at him, "Kelly, let's go."
"Okay!"
Seeing Scarlett and Kelly were about to leave the store, James bent down to pick up the check from the floor, holding it with clean fingers and offering it to Scarlett, his gaze admiring her nearly perfect face, "Miss, please take this."
Scarlett didn't even glance at it, "No need. The clothes on her are on me. The clothes and the money are my gifts to her."
She would never take back money she had thrown away, especially since it had been passed around.
With that, Scarlett and Kelly walked away, their figures moving under the luxurious chandeliers of the mall. Despite her monochrome attire, Scarlett exuded an undeniably vibrant aura. In contrast, Ashley, with her heavy makeup, sexy short skirt, and jewelry, lacked any of Scarlett's grace. The difference was obvious.
James took a few steps forward, catching up with Scarlett. Wearing an expensive tailcoat, he raised his hand, intentionally revealing a watch worth two hundred thousand dollars. He was showing off his wealth while also testing if Scarlett really didn't know who he was. "Miss, I'm really sorry about today. How about you give me your contact info, and I'll personally invite you to dinner to apologize."
Kelly's eyes widened, looking between James and Scarlett. James, a billionaire worth two billion dollars, was trying to hit on Scarlett. But Scarlett's eyes only paused on his face for a second before she raised her ring finger, "Sir, you're hitting on the wrong person."
She was engaged? James frowned, his expression instantly souring, but he kept his cool, "You misunderstood, that's not what I meant."
Scarlett didn't care what he meant, "What you mean doesn't matter to me. I'm just stating my position."
She shut down James's words and turned to leave as he bit his lip in frustration.
Ashley walked out of the store, clinging to James's arm with tears streaming down, "Why did you make me apologize to Kelly? She..."
"Ashley, who gave you the guts to be so arrogant? Aren't you afraid of getting beaten up by Sebastian if you insult Brooklyn? You wouldn't even know what hit you." James was exasperated.
Ashley was so scared she went limp, "James, I..."
"Enough. Take this money and don't show up in front of me again."
"James, you can't do this. You said you would be with me!" Ashley chased after James, but he walked faster, giving her no chance of catching up.
Ashley's clothes were already too revealing, but she ignored the curious and disapproving glances from passersby, chasing after James, desperate to reclaim his attention, "James, do you love me or not?"
What a childish and infuriating question for a man. James turned back, looking at her with contempt and disgust, his gaze as cold as ice, "Love? Ashley, you wouldn't actually think I'd be interested in a woman like you, would you? Look at yourself!"
