Chapter 282 Sebastian Was in a Terrible Mood
"Hold up a sec!" Brooklyn suddenly shouted at Valerie.
Valerie stopped in her tracks, and Brooklyn sneered, "What'd they offer you? I'll double it."
"I have no clue what you're talking about. You two slapped me at the party and humiliated me. I want payback!" Valerie snapped.
'No, it ain't that simple. If it was just about getting even, she wouldn't need to kill us. So, someone's using Valerie. What does a B-list celeb want the most? Fame? To hit the big leagues? Or a shot at getting rich in Hollywood?' Brooklyn thought. 'Only one person can offer her all that: Megan! Megan's itching to see me dead. She's a scary and dumb woman.'
"Valerie, you can't handle a murder rap. Even if I die, Sebastian will find out who did it. Then everything you have will vanish, and you'll die a horrible death. Let me go now, and I promise your career will skyrocket. I can make you a top-tier star," Brooklyn said.
This was a sweet deal, basically telling Valerie she'd get everything Megan had.
Valerie agreed to kidnap Kelly and lure Brooklyn in because she wanted to hit the big time.
"Brooklyn, shut up! You think you can still use the Kingsley family by then?" Valerie spat.
Kelly and Brooklyn's hands were tied, otherwise, Kelly would've lunged at Valerie!
Brooklyn stumbled to her feet, her swollen face bleeding, and said calmly, "Her last name is Turner, right?"
Valerie froze, wondering how Brooklyn knew.
"No one else! Brooklyn, just wait to die!" Valerie yelled.
Brooklyn stuttered closer, "What did she promise you? The same influence she has now? Don't be dumb. If I die, you think you'll really do well, Valerie? Who'd believe that?"
Valerie clenched her fists, "Brooklyn! Save it. You can't scare me!"
Brooklyn laughed, fierce and determined, "I'll give you an hour to think it over. Either wait for Sebastian to find out and kill you, or let me go now and I'll bring you wealth and glory."
After saying this, Brooklyn turned back. She was terrified inside, thinking if Valerie got agitated, they were toast.
Kelly held her breath, wide-eyed, thinking, 'Damn, goddess, you've leveled up today.'
'Megan, that dumb woman, if I kidnap Kelly, threaten Brooklyn, or even try to kill them, even Brooklyn could see it, let alone Sebastian?'
Valerie walked out of the villa, her mind a mess. Brooklyn touched a nerve, but she thought if she pulled this off, her future would be golden!
There were too many top-tier stars in the entertainment biz. Nobody got famous without playing dirty. The industry was a mess; no one came out clean.
With her own skills, Valerie could never hit the big leagues.
This was her shot. When someone dangled her dream role in front of her, she made up her mind.
Over at MBK International Building, Sebastian had just wrapped up a two-hour meeting. He stormed out of the conference room, looking like he was ready to explode. Even Dario kept his distance.
Whitney and Linda trailed behind Sebastian, clutching documents. They exchanged a worried glance and followed him to the CEO's office.
Sebastian suddenly stopped, his face dark with anger, eyes threatening a brewing storm.
Everyone behind him froze, not daring to breathe.
"Tell the marketing department that MBK Group will match any price war and crush them!" Sebastian barked.
"Yes, Mr. Kingsley!"
Whitney bolted to the marketing department. Only Dario and Linda were left in the hallway. Linda shot Dario a desperate look, thinking Sebastian was about to tear someone apart.
Dario thought, 'Yeah, he might. During the meeting, he almost flipped the table. The fact that he's holding back is a miracle.'
Sebastian waved his hand irritably, "Get back to work."
'Phew, dodged a bullet!' Linda thought as she scurried away.
"Mr. Kingsley, NC Group has mostly been in foreign markets. Now they're eyeing domestic resources, and they'll probably start with a price war. But going after MBK Group directly is just dumb," Dario said with a nervous chuckle.
"NC Group isn't just any company. They're strong. Otherwise, I'd have bought them out instead of dealing with this headache," Sebastian replied, thinking.
Dario nodded, "Mr. Kingsley, NC Group is new to the market and doesn't get the dynamics. We can hit them there."
Sebastian's sharp eyes cut to Dario, "You talk too much."
Poor Dario clammed up. He was just trying to lighten Sebastian's mood. The company had too many issues lately, and Sebastian was in a foul mood.
Back in his office, Sebastian sat down, fuming. The fluctuating graphs and numbers on the screen only made him angrier.
