Chapter 323 Don't Like Stubborn People

Zach's Room

'A bed, a chair, a table, and a cabinet—could this place be any more basic?' Dario thought, not even bothering to sit. He cut straight to the point, "Dr. Carter, you must know where Mrs. Kingsley is. Spill it."

'So, he hasn't found Brooklyn yet? Good,' Zach mused. He poured Dario a glass of water and handed it over. "I have no idea where she is. Did she leave after I left Libertya?"

Dario set the glass down and smirked. "Dr. Carter, Ms. Mitchell is Mr. Kingsley's wife. He'll use every resource to find her. I hope you're being straight with me."

Zach stayed cool, sitting on the edge of the bed and offering the only chair to Dario. "Mr. Klein, I really don't know where she is. Since I got here, I've pretty much cut off all contact with the outside world. You know that."

Dario's brow furrowed. "Dr. Carter, what do you want? Money? Something else? Tell me where Mrs. Kingsley is, and Mr. Kingsley will make it worth your while."

Zach shrugged and smiled. "What you're offering is tempting, but sorry, I really don't know."

Dario knew Zach wasn't going to be easy, so he decided to get rough. He punched Zach a few times. Blood poured from Zach's nose, but he still insisted he didn't know.

'Is he really clueless?' Dario wondered.

"Come with me!" Dario ordered.

In the dim night, under the moon and stars, Brooklyn anxiously watched two tall figures. Dario was dragging Zach up the hill. When his phone got a signal, he dialed Sebastian's number.

Brooklyn's fingers clutched the window frame. She thought, 'What is Dario planning to do?'

She wanted to open the door, but if Dario saw her, all her hiding would be for nothing.

Brooklyn's fingers clenched one by one. Her delicate brows furrowed, and her thin lips pressed into a line as she anxiously waited.

As soon as the call connected, Zach grabbed the phone and yelled, "Sebastian, if anything happens to Brooklyn, I will personally kill you when I get back!"

Zach's outburst shattered any illusion that he and Brooklyn were together.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Zach, are you serious?"

"Sebastian, your own wife ran away, and you come to me for answers. Are you insulting me or her?" Zach mocked.

Sebastian felt like his head was going to explode. "Zach, I think you're tired of living. Hiding my wife—do you even know the consequences?"

After he finished, Dario took the phone.

"Dario, I don't like stubborn people," Sebastian said.

Dario got the message loud and clear. "Mr. Kingsley, don't worry."

After hanging up, Dario cracked his knuckles. "Dr. Carter, since you don't want to talk, looks like we'll have to do this the hard way."

Zach chuckled, wiping the blood from his mouth with his long fingers. "Mr. Klein, is this really how you solve problems?"

Dario's mouth twisted into a smirk. "Why not?"

People around Sebastian weren't just good in business; they were well-trained fighters. Dario had a black belt in Taekwondo.

Zach took a brutal beating. The fight on the hilltop, under the moonlight, turned into a silent silhouette.

Brooklyn watched anxiously, unable to intervene, just waiting and worrying.

'Sebastian, you violent maniac! Bastard! But isn't all this for me?' she thought.

Torn and tormented, Brooklyn bit her lip and opened the door.

The consequences of stepping in were unknown. Zach was beaten black and blue, his white coat torn in many places. By the time the doctors came to help, Zach was already on the ground.

Dario wasn't done. "Dr. Carter, where is she? Speak!"

Zach wiped his mouth, blood staining his hand. "I don't know, so I can't tell you."

"Still stubborn, huh?" Dario was about to strike again when several doctors shielded Zach. "Stop! Do you think beating someone here isn't illegal? Get out!"

Zach had a high reputation in the hospital, with many female fans. The women surrounding him were ready to protect him to the end.

Dario had to back off. He straightened his collar and said firmly, "If you don't talk, fine. I'll stay here and wait!"

Zach was helped up, the bruises on his face glaringly obvious. He smiled helplessly. "I didn't expect Sebastian to be so childish and unreasonable."

Dario chuckled. "You're wrong, Dr. Carter. It's not just Mr. Kingsley; any man would act this way when it comes to the woman he loves."

Zach clenched his fists. He hadn't fought back earlier, hoping Dario would leave after hitting him. But now, seeing he wouldn't leave, Zach had no more reservations. He dismissed the doctors, elegantly removed his torn white coat, stretched his hands, and smiled politely. "Since it's for the woman I love, I won't hold back either."
