Chapter 29 Changing the Dressing

The moment the surveillance footage filled Susie's vision, a cold wave of fear washed over her, rendering her legs weak and her hand, clutching the mouse, trembled uncontrollably. Her gaze was locked onto Brooklyn, the focus in her eyes wavering. Judging from Brooklyn's tone, Susie discerned that her sister harbored no intentions of reconciliation.

"What do you want?" Despite her best efforts to mask her panic, Susie's voice wavered, betraying her fear. She was a paper tiger, her bravado crumbling under scrutiny.

Brooklyn, observing Susie's fear, felt an unexpected pang of pity. "You ask me what I want? My dear sister, I want to ask you, what do you want?"

Susie remained frozen in her office chair, her back trembling. She looked up at Brooklyn, speechless, her mind racing to find the right words, terrified of uttering the wrong ones.

Brooklyn, noticing her sister's trembling form, spoke again, "You blocked my way today, do you want to permanently shut my mouth tomorrow, Susie? Or do you think I should shut yours before you shut mine?"

Susie's eyes widened in shock, her gaze fixed on Brooklyn's calm and composed expression. Panic and unease washed over her in waves.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself. She couldn't let Brooklyn defeat her. This was only the beginning!

"Brooklyn, don't go crazy in my office! Get out! Get out!" Susie pointed at the door, her voice filled with desperation. However, Brooklyn remained unruffled.

"Calm down. When I want to leave, I'll leave myself. But for now, I don't want to leave."

Nonchalantly, Brooklyn picked up a document from her basket, leafed through it, and then pointed at the table with her finger. "Susie, are you planning to apologize to me now or do you want me to find a lawyer?"

Each word she uttered, calm and composed, carried an immense weight, causing Susie's unease to intensify. "Do you want me to apologize? Dream on! Brooklyn, I'm the one who blocked your door! Not only do I want to block your door, I also want to kill you!" Susie stood straight, her body trembling with rage. She pointed a finger at Brooklyn's forehead, her eyes filled with murderous intent.

Brooklyn merely smiled. She looked up at Susie, her once ladylike facade replaced by the image of a lunatic.

Engaging with Susie was proving to be a tedious task. Brooklyn preferred the company of the intelligent, not the foolish. Susie was not worthy of being her adversary.

"Oh? You want to kill me? I'll give you a chance, you don't have to play tricks anymore, kill me now." Brooklyn's eyes held a faint smile, the sarcasm hidden within it lost on Susie.

Having lived with Susie for so long, if Brooklyn didn't understand this woman's mindset, then she would be a failure.

In a fit of rage, Susie grabbed a folder, ready to hurl it at Brooklyn, but a shred of rationality held her back. Instead, she laughed, a bitter sound echoing in the room. She slowly put down the folder and sat back in her chair. "Brooklyn, since you have evidence, why don't you just go to the police station? You'd better have the police take me away and sentence me to a few years in prison, then the Mitchell family's assets will be back in your hands. But..."

Her laughter grew louder, her arrogance evident. "Once the media finds out that the general manager of the Mitchell Group was arrested and imprisoned because of a conflict with her sister, what do you think will happen to the company's stock?

"You should have heard about our family's business, right? If it weren't for me and my mom supporting the Mitchell Group, it would have gone bankrupt a long time ago!"

Having finished her piece, Susie leaned forward, her crimson lips curled into a smirk, her gaze locked onto Brooklyn.

Brooklyn clenched her fists. She hadn't expected Susie, usually so intellectually challenged, to have such rational moments.

She hadn't turned Susie into the police because she feared the impact it would have on the Mitchell family and the Mitchell Group. She had once considered dealing with Susie and her mother together, but the potential consequences had given her pause.

But who was Brooklyn?

"Do you think I really care about the Mitchell family's wealth? You probably forgot, I am the young mistress of the Kingsley family, Sebastian's wife. Sebastian can easily decide the fate of the Mitchell family. Do you think I'm really afraid to deal with you?"

"Hahaha! The young mistress of the Kingsley family?! You really think of yourself as Sebastian's wife, don't you? If Sebastian saw you as his wife, how could he frequently appear in the media with Megan and never mention you? My sister, you don't even know you've been dumped! How pathetic!"

Brooklyn tapped the table with her clean and slender fingers, raising an eyebrow confidently. "Susie, do you want to see if I can handle the Mitchell family's assets?"

Susie's face tightened. "You..."

"And, if something like this happens again, I won't just warn you. Of course, for the Mitchell family's sake, I won't hand you over to the police. But there are countless ways to make someone stay silent forever. I have ten thousand ways to make you unable to speak, and just as many ways to make no one believe you even if you do speak."

Brooklyn maintained a slight smile, her beautiful eyes clear but filled with a terrifying power.

"What do you want?!"

"I have already stated my goal. An apology."
