Chapter 225 Who Steals Love

Brooklyn planned to ignore it, but when she passed the duty desk, she stopped. "What are you talking about?" she asked.

With a cold demeanor, her presence made the air chillier.

A nurse quickly hid her phone. "Dr. Mitchell, we weren't saying anything."

Her eyes had faint disdain. "If you have something to say, say it to my face. No need to hide. Isn't this gossip meant for my ears?"

The nurse bit her lip and exchanged glances with her colleagues. "We won't dare anymore, Dr. Mitchell."

Her lips turned pale with anger. Clenching her fist in her pocket, she said, "You can talk freely, and I have my authority. If you enjoy gossiping so much, why not quit and find another profession?"

Frightened, the nurse quickly apologized. "We won't dare anymore, Dr. Mitchell. Please don't be angry."

Brooklyn clenched the medical records and strode toward the ward, her head buzzing.

However, it didn't end there. An hour later after her rounds, the gossip had intensified.

"Look at the comments. Brooklyn is Mitchell Group's heiress. She approached Sebastian for benefits and help her family's financial crisis."

"That's not all. Some say she used dirty tricks to marry into the Kingsley family, while Megan didn't know of this."

"Dr. Mitchell's scheming is terrifying! No wonder people in the department both respect and fear her."

The gossip spread throughout the hospital.

When Brooklyn stood by the sink with her hands under the running water, she felt countless eyes on her.

Looking up, she saw her pale face in the mirror and realized how angry she was.

At that moment, her phone rang. It was Sebastian.

"Brooklyn, don't worry about the news. I'll take care of it," he said. He didn't expect someone to dig up something from five years ago, but his relationship with Megan wasn't as reported.

"Is it true?" she asked, staring at her reflection with bloodshot eyes.

She had endured for hours, telling herself not to care. However, the rumors were overwhelming.

So tired, she was so tired.

Sebastian pressed his forehead in frustration. "Megan and I did know each other five years ago, but it's not like they said. We weren't in a relationship."

He hoped Brooklyn would trust him, even with a simple explanation.

Her lips trembled. "I understand."

"Brooklyn, I will find the mastermind behind this and clear your name. Trust me."

He reassured her, hoping she'd give him time to find the truth.

She closed her eyes, intending to ask for a divorce. However, his concern stopped her. Suppressing her grievances, she nodded. "Okay."

As she left the restroom, Zach appeared outside the door. "Dr. Mitchell, are you okay?"

The affair between the mistress and the wife was escalating, and Reddit was abuzz with discussions. The comments were harsh and mean.

"I'm fine."

Zach wanted to support her but didn't dare. "Take a break this afternoon. The hospital environment isn't suitable for you right now."

Brooklyn shook her head, smiling lightly. "If I were so easily defeated, I wouldn't be Brooklyn. I still have work to do, so please excuse me."

He felt the distance between them.

"Dr. Mitchell, remember what I told you. No matter when you need help, I'm always here for you."

She didn't respond or look back. But as she was about to return to her office, her vision suddenly went dark! Dozens of reporters swarmed in, trapping her in the hallway.

"Dr. Mitchell, five years ago, Megan and Sebastian were a couple. Did you come between them? Is this true?"

"Dr. Mitchell, please explain. Did you use improper means to marry Sebastian?"

"Dr. Mitchell, did you take Sebastian away from Megan?"

"It's said that after you married Sebastian, you cut ties with Megan without caring about sisterhood. Is that true?"

"Dr. Mitchell."

"Please answer!"
