Chapter 263 Becoming Quite the Favorite
Kelly was overjoyed and screamed inwardly, 'My goddess, so domineering!'
She straightened her back, "Did you hear that? Remember it! Take a good look and get out of here!"
The reporters slunk away, leaving everyone in the circle collectively stunned.
Brooklyn turned around, smiling sweetly at Megan, then glanced at other scantily clad women nearby, asking, "You enjoy talking behind people's backs?"
No one dared to speak except Megan, who stepped forward protectively, holding her belly, and said, "Brooklyn, you must have forgotten, tonight is my father's birthday party. What are you showing off for here!"
Brooklyn slightly raised her chin, her delicate face flawless and beautiful; even the most critical person couldn't find a single flaw. Not only her looks, but her height also easily overshadowed Megan's arrogance, "Ms. Turner, I'm teaching you that you must be careful about choosing friends. If you're not careful, you'll suffer."
She thought, 'Yes, if you're not careful with friends, you'll suffer. I have suffered greatly because of this. I can stay silent, but when I don't want to endure, no one can stop me!'
Brooklyn's display of power in the small circle made everyone who saw it retreat. She remained calm and composed, without losing her temper or acting spoiled, dignified like a goddess.
Compared to Valerie, who was now simply a victim, and Megan, who was acting unreasonably, the difference between a noble lady and a petulant woman was glaringly clear.
Brooklyn hadn't anticipated that Megan's mother would return at this moment. Although she missed the initial confrontation, she heard Brooklyn's sarcastic remarks about Megan and shot back with a sharp retort. "Brooklyn, what are you doing, using the Kingsley family's influence to go wild? You may not care about your own reputation, but don't drag the Kingsley family's name through the mud."
She thought, 'Clearly, her long chat with Jennifer had paid off.'
Brooklyn responded with a polite smile, taking in the situation with Megan's mother for the first time under such circumstances. "Mrs. Turner, I apologize. In my haste, I forgot that when you hit someone else's dog, you have to check if the owner is okay with it. My bad."
The room erupted in laughter at her words, Kelly nearly bursting into laughter.
Quinn, who had witnessed the entire scene, ended up spraying his drink in amusement, causing the aristocratic gentleman beside him to look on in surprise.
Karen, incensed, snapped, "Brooklyn, aren't you just riding on the Kingsley family's coattails? With Mitchell Group in bankruptcy, what right do you, a bankrupt family's daughter, have to act so high and mighty?"
The mention of Mitchell Group's takeover was her sore spot!
Brooklyn, though averse to swearing, found hitting Karen inappropriate, so she chose to fire back instead. "Mrs. Turner..."
But before she could finish, a sharp, cutting voice interrupted, "Dr. Mitchell, what a coincidence."
It was Samantha.
The scene had turned into quite a spectacle!
Kelly glanced at Samantha and recognized her, sneering, "Samantha, what are you doing here, trying to join the party?"
Samantha, clearly familiar with Kelly's bar scene antics, shot back, "Still no sense despite your age, Kelly?"
Kelly, itching to retaliate, was stopped by Brooklyn. "She's not worth the trouble."
Brooklyn now understood why Samantha had earned her professor title.
With the men discussing business inside, the women were left outside, providing the perfect opportunity for some public humiliation.
"Brooklyn, your lack of manners is really something. Showing such disrespect to Mrs. Turner is beneath you."
Brooklyn thought, 'What a perfect outsider's critique. But I'm not scared at all.'
Brooklyn raised an eyebrow at Samantha, then looked at Megan and Karen, who were trying to defend each other. With a calm smile, she said, "True, I may lack manners, so if I accidentally embarrass everyone, please do be understanding."
Her words effectively shut everyone up.
As long as she was Sebastian's wife, she held the ultimate trump card. Anyone who crossed her would face her retaliation.
Quinn continued savoring his drink, which seemed to grow more complex with each sip. "Brooklyn, you're really becoming quite the favorite. The Kingsley family could definitely use you."
Meanwhile, the women outside remained oblivious to what was happening inside the Turner family's villa. Sebastian stood in the grand hall, watching through the floor-to-ceiling windows. He held his wine glass silently, but his eyes never left Brooklyn. Every movement, every expression of hers was meticulously observed, captured within his deep, inscrutable gaze.
