Chapter 435 Bad Luck
Although it was a research, for a rich guy like Quinn, as long as he stepped out of the company and away from his father and brother's watchful eyes, the world was his oyster.
Quinn casually tossed the research forms onto the passenger seat!
"Aucester Medical University, here I come!"
Aucester Medical University was the top medical university in the country, offering the most comprehensive range of disciplines, with the largest campus area and producing the most talent each year.
Of course, another very important point was that among all the medical universities, Aucester Medical University had the highest average attractiveness of female students in the country!
Aucester Medical University had beautiful scenery, a great location, lots of attractive female students, and was full of talent!
Quinn's red Ferrari roared into the university campus, speeding down Knowledge Avenue, eliciting envious screams wherever it went.
Wearing sunglasses, Quinn sat leisurely in the car, his eyes scanning the passing female students, humming a pop tune.
Ah, college. The young female students were the most pleasing to the eye.
The car turned off Knowledge Avenue onto Summer Rain Road. It wasn't Quinn's first time at Aucester Medical University; he knew the place like the back of his hand.
To see beauties, of course, he had to go to the Western Area within the university, because that was where the largest cafeteria was, and behind it was the girls' dormitory.
The luxury car sped along recklessly, the wind from the tires lifting the skirts of passing female students, causing them to scream.
Through the rearview mirror, Quinn saw the female students clutching their skirts in anger and surprise, their eyes filled with shock and admiration, and he felt elated!
Yes! This was all he wanted!
Suddenly, Quinn's eyes widened!
"Shit! Move!"
Not far ahead at the intersection, a long-haired girl, Arabella Warner, was crossing the street with her head down, eating an ice cream cone, completely unaware of the speeding car.
In a split second, Quinn slammed on the brakes!
The red luxury car came to an abrupt halt!
Due to the huge inertia, Quinn's upper body was thrown forward two feet, his forehead just two inches away from hitting the windshield.
'Damn it!' Cursing inwardly, Quinn lifted his head, still in shock.
Through the glass, a pair of eyes even more shocked than his own stared back at him, deep brown eyes filled with confusion, panic, anger, and bewilderment.
Arabella's hand was still holding the ice cream cone, but the ice cream itself had long disappeared.
Through the glass, Arabella and Quinn locked eyes, and the atmosphere inside and outside the car simultaneously dropped.
"Are you an idiot?" Quinn pushed open the car door, yanked off his sunglasses, his chest filled with anger and lingering fear, and he harshly scolded Arabella. It seemed that yelling wasn't enough to vent his frustration; he wanted to punch her head open to see if it was filled with water.
Arabella finally snapped out of her shock, looked up, squinted her eyes, and squinted again. With her high myopia and her glasses knocked off, she was practically half-blind. She said disdainfully, "Who are you?"
Her vision blurred, Arabella couldn't see Quinn's face clearly, and with their significant height difference, she had to look up more than eight inches to see his face.
What? She actually asked who he was?
Quinn sized up Arabella, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, wearing flat shoes, blue jeans, a loose white T-shirt, with long hair draped behind her, bangs on her forehead, a round face with a bit of baby fat, and decent skin. But what was with those half-squinted eyes?
Was Arabella looking down on him?
"Miss, you're blocking my car, understand?" Quinn was speechless.
Arabella, judging by her crude attire, was probably a freshman, either from a small town or a small county.
Arabella chuckled, "Are you blind when you drive? There's no traffic light here, and according to basic etiquette, vehicles must yield to pedestrians."
Quinn laughed, "Miss, you saw my car coming and didn't move? How do I know you're not trying to scam me? Luckily, I'm a good driver, or you'd be on the ground, understand?"
"Help me find my glasses!" Arabella squinted her eyes. Damn it, who was this jerk!
Quinn was silent.
He couldn't quite describe the feeling, but why did Arabella have an aura that made her hard to refuse? Her voice wasn't loud, she was small, with a round face, but where did that aura come from?
"What are you standing there for? You made me lose my glasses, find them for me." Arabella urged.
Quinn gritted his teeth in frustration, "Fine! Wait here."
Arabella crossed her arms and leaned against the car hood, waiting for Quinn to retrieve her glasses.
Quinn looked around for the glasses, suppressing his anger, "Miss, I have to say, you're young but have quite a temper."
Arabella sneered, "Hurry up and find my glasses."
"Alright, you really do have a temper." Quinn bent down and searched for several minutes, finally finding the black thick-rimmed glasses in the roadside bushes. Surprisingly, they weren't broken.
For fun, he put them on his own eyes, "Damn! Are you blind? How many diopters are these?"
Quinn only focused for a second, and the world spun. "If it's not 150 diopters, it's at least 100."
Arabella snatched the glasses back and skillfully placed them on her nose, finally seeing Quinn clearly.
With her vision restored, Arabella saw Quinn's face and the car he was driving, and she smiled knowingly, "No wonder you're so arrogant, turns out you're a rich guy."
Quinn crossed his arms and gave Arabella a sidelong glance. The black-rimmed glasses covered half her face, but the large eyes behind the lenses held a hint of disdainful smirk. Despite her high myopia, her eyes were still bright and sharp.
However, in a university like Aucester Medical University, known for its high average attractiveness, he had run into an exception.
"Regretting offending me now?" he sneered.
Arabella pursed her lips, stuck her hands into the back pockets of her jeans, and smiled with one side of her mouth, "Yeah, I regret it. I should've just laid down and not gotten up. Maybe I could've gotten a hefty compensation."
Damn it!
Freshmen girls these days were this smart? Usually, it was the seniors who had such thoughts.
Quinn scoffed, "Miss, I don't have time to waste with you. Move aside, I need to go."
However, Arabella stepped right in front of the car, blocking his way. She extended her slender hand in front of him, waving her palm, "Want to leave? Compensate me for my loss first. I just bought that ice cream cone, took one bite, and you knocked it to the ground. Pay up before you go."
Damn it!
Quinn pulled out his wallet, "How much? Just say it."
Arabella glanced at his wallet, an Armani limited edition for the season. Though expensive, it was quite tasteless, "Seventy cents."
Quinn's hand paused mid-motion, his eyebrows raising higher and higher. "Seventy cents?"
Was there still an ice cream cone that cost seventy cents?
He casually handed her a five-dollar bill, "Here, take it. Buy a few more and enjoy."
Arabella glanced at it, "No need, I just want seventy cents. Give me the change."
Damn it!
"I don't have change. I'm happy to help the poor, don't be shy!"
Poor?
Arabella shoved the money back into his hand, "You like helping the poor? So kind of you."
Quinn raised an eyebrow, "Worship me?"
Arabella smirked, "Worship! Since you're so kind, you wouldn't mind buying a bit more, right?"
"Of course!"
"Great, then please follow me." Arabella led the way, and Quinn followed her suspiciously, stepping up the stairs to the largest cafeteria at Aucester Medical University, MedSchool Eatery.
Quinn's mouth curved up. Who would've thought, Arabella was quite clever, indirectly making him treat her to a meal. Indeed, students were getting smarter.
But before Quinn could finish his thoughts, two claps interrupted him.
Arabella clapped twice, and everyone in the cafeteria, whether eating, queuing for food, or searching for delicacies, stopped what they were doing.
She glanced at Quinn from the corner of her eye, then smiled slyly, "Attention everyone, someone here wants to treat everyone to a meal! Whatever you eat or drink, it's all on this gentleman. Let's give him a round of applause!"
Quinn was silent.
And everyone was silent.
After a moment of silence, the cafeteria erupted in enthusiastic applause that lasted a long time.
"Wow! So generous! You're awesome!"
"Is he Ms. Warner's boyfriend?"
"He must be pursuing Ms. Warner! Ms. Warner is hard to get! Good luck!"
"Handsome, are you an actor? You're so good-looking!"
Quinn felt like everyone in the cafeteria knew Arabella.
His mouth twitched as he looked at the so-called Ms. Warner, "What year are you in?"
Arabella casually tilted her head, "Fifth year."
Quinn almost fell to the ground, "Damn it! Fifth year?"
Arabella smirked, "I'm in a combined bachelor's and master's program, five years. Got a problem with that?"
Damn it.
She was a top student.
Quinn wiped his sweat silently, "Alright, I'll treat everyone to lunch, but make it clear, I'm not her boyfriend, and I will never pursue her! Okay?"
Arabella shrugged, "That's best. I don't like idiots dressed in designer clothes with zero IQ."
She turned and left the cafeteria, leaving a cool and stylish back view.
Quinn chased, "Wait! What's your name?"
Hundreds of people in the cafeteria shouted in unison, "Arabella Warner! Cardiac surgery graduate student, dormitory in the Western Area, Peach Blossom Meadows, Building 10, Room 1205! Sir, that's all we can do for you!"
Quinn was silent.
Damn it! Students these days were too smart! Crazier than office workers!
Quinn's mouth twitched as he left some money and exited the cafeteria.
Today was really not his lucky day.
Arabella walked out of the cafeteria, glanced at Quinn's car, noted the license plate, and then walked away.
She went to the convenience store, bought another ice cream cone, and ate it as she walked back to her dorm. At the dorm entrance, a classmate grabbed her arm, "Arabella, great news!"
Arabella took a bite of her ice cream, "What great news? Did the professor leak the exam content? Or is the research project finished?"
"None of that! You know Scarlett, right? The one everyone calls a miracle doctor?" Her classmate's eyes sparkled, shaking her arm excitedly.
Arabella nodded, "Yeah, I've heard of her. A legendary figure, currently working at Aucester Hospital."
"She's hiring assistants! Two positions! And they're recruiting from Libertya!" Her classmate exclaimed.
Arabella was momentarily stunned, "Really?"
"Absolutely! Our school is a key recommendation unit!"
"That's fantastic!" Arabella took a big bite of her ice cream, then handed the rest to her classmate, "It's yours!"
"Arabella, where are you going?"
"To sign up!"
