Chapter 429 Protection Down to the Bone

"Are you really Brooklyn?"

Kelly stood in Scarlett's hospital room for three minutes, taking nearly a minute to ask her first question. It wasn't that she didn't want to accept the truth; she was simply overjoyed!

But did this really align with basic logic, with the fundamental principles of the human world?

Scarlett sat on the raised hospital bed, pretending to be profound as she looked at her best friend Kelly's shocked expression. She felt indescribably happy that Kelly finally recognized her. "Guess, am I?"

Kelly's eyes, which were about to pop out of their sockets in shock, suddenly became certain when she heard Scarlett's words. Of course, it was her goddess! Who else could be so confident, so self-assured, and a bit mischievous?

Kelly took a few steps to the bedside and plopped down on the edge of the bed. She grabbed Brooklyn's shoulders with both hands, staring at her face from every angle, from her eyebrows to her eyes, from her nose to her lips, from her chin to her collarbone.

Suddenly, she started shouting like a madwoman, "I knew you would come back! You are my goddess! How could a goddess die young? No, how could a beauty have a short life! Brooklyn, I missed you so much!"

Kelly hugged Brooklyn so tightly that Brooklyn had to smile and endure her excessive enthusiasm, almost having her shoulders crushed by Kelly's hands.

Sebastian, standing to the side, couldn't help it anymore. He gently pulled Kelly's arm and said in a moderate tone, "Ms. Wilson."

He only called Kelly's name without saying anything else. Kelly quickly let go of her hands and then chuckled, "Brooklyn, did I hurt you?"

Brooklyn chuckled, glanced at Kelly, and shook her head in denial. Then her eyes shifted to Sebastian. When Sebastian wanted to protect someone, he was so considerable.

Brooklyn felt very happy, very satisfied, very blessed.

She pouted, dissatisfied with Kelly's delayed reaction. "Kelly, what did you see on my face just now? You've seen this face a long time ago. Don't tell me you just noticed something. I'm ready with the torture for you."

Kelly chuckled, her petite figure and face moved closer to Brooklyn, but this time she didn't dare grab her again. "Well... I have to admit, your face now is really prettier than before! You can't blame me for not recognizing you, right? The plastic surgery is too thorough, isn't it?"

"Do you need a beating?" Brooklyn said, raising her hand as if to slap Kelly, smiling as she saw Kelly's surprised and excited expression. To be honest, she was as happy as Kelly.

"You're a violent maniac! Don't forget, you're a patient now. I'm strong and healthy, I'm not afraid of you at all!" Kelly straightened her back, ready for a fight.

Brooklyn's dark and playful smile curled one side of her mouth. Her eyes glanced at Sebastian, who was leisurely sitting on the sofa reading documents. She whispered, threateningly and mischievously, "Are you sure?"

Alright, Kelly conceded.

She cleared her throat, "I won't fight seriously with a married woman. When I find my Prince, I'll compete with you!"

Brooklyn was also curious, "In these two years, you haven't founda boyfriend? Haven't met a man you like? That's not right. Kelly, you've never lacked handsome guys around you."

Kelly chuckled, secretly pointing her finger at Sebastian behind her, deliberately joking with a smile, "Isn't it popular now for best friends to steal each other's boyfriends? I think your husband is pretty good, worth stealing."

Brooklyn couldn't help but laugh out loud, "No problem, if you like him, just take him."

With a joke, Brooklyn and Kelly laughed loudly, while Sebastian, sitting on the sofa, frowned slightly. It was unclear whether Sebastian was overthinking or Brooklyn was hinting at something.

Talking about stealing best friends' men always implied something!

Sebastian's frown deepened. It seemed he needed to sort things out with Megan quickly.

In the underground parking lot of Aucester Hospital, Piper sat in the car, relaying the news she had heard and seen at the hospital to Megan.

"Has she regained her memory?"

As expected, Megan couldn't stay calm. Her voice on the phone was trembling, trembling uncontrollably. Fear made her voice sound like it was being blown apart by a strong wind.

Piper, one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding the phone, still wearing a white coat, closed her eyes with a serious expression and softly replied, "It's been two days. Brooklyn remembers everything."

Megan slumped in her office chair, her hand gripping the pen tightly, her knuckles turning white. "Since that, she won't let the past go."

Piper nodded, "She doesn't have direct evidence, but with Brooklyn's personality and Sebastian's current attitude towards her, even without evidence, she will take action."

Megan knew, and because she knew, she was afraid. Sweat slightly beaded on her forehead. She lowered her voice, her throat a bit hoarse, "Piper, we can't avoid this. We have to face it head-on."

"That's right."

Megan took a deep breath, adjusted her breathing, and then said, "Brooklyn made me lose everything. I don't plan to let her go either. I don't believe I'll be her defeated opponent for life!"

With a resentful sentence, Megan's fingers released the pen forcefully, throwing it onto the table with a loud clatter.

Piper nodded, "She hasn't made a move yet, we can't lose our composure."

After thinking for a moment, Piper asked, "You want to work with Simon? You better think it through; Simon is not a good person."

Megan sneered, looking at the scenery outside the window, her eyes filled with dark schemes. "Piper, in this circle, who is a good person? Everyone just uses each other. Simon wants to use me, which means I have something worth using, and he has something I need."

Having the value to be used meant she had the capital to turn the tables. Born in the business world, how could Megan not know this?

Piper was a bit surprised, "Megan, you finally figured it out."

Megan sneered, her laughter tinged with helplessness and bitterness. "What else can I do if I don't figure it out? The Sebastian I love will never love me. The Sebastian I wanted to rely on will never let me lean on him again! So I have to find someone else!"

And Simon came at just the right time.

"Of course, if there's a better candidate, I'll consider it." Megan added.

Since she was destined not to marry for love, Megan chose to marry for power. She had to grasp at least one of these two.

Suddenly, Piper realized that the Megan who had always sought her help, who needed her advice, and who was occasionally weak and fragile, had grown up and changed.

Was Megan always good at hiding it, or did she become smarter after her experiences with Sebastian?

In the hospital room, Brooklyn and Kelly were chatting and joking lively, talking about their lives over the past two years when Quinn arrived.

Quinn, holding a bouquet of carnations, leaned against the door, looking at Sebastian and then at Brooklyn on the bed. He scratched his head, "Sebastian, Scarlett, I'm here."

Brooklyn's smile widened. Quinn didn't know the truth yet, and she wanted to tease him. "Mr. Quinn Kingsley, please come in."

Quinn, who had just caused Brooklyn's car to be wrecked, felt a bit embarrassed as he walked in and placed the flowers in a vase. "Scarlett, is your head feeling better?"

Brooklyn scrutinized Quinn. This time, she was looking at him as Brooklyn. Quinn had made two mistakes, but she had to admit, he genuinely cared for her, both then and now. It had been a long time, Quinn.

Quinn felt embarrassed under her gaze and pinched his nose. "Scarlett, is there something on my face? You're looking at me like that; I feel embarrassed."

Brooklyn tilted her head slightly, "I'm checking if you've become more handsome. It seems you have, and you've grown taller too. You've developed quite well."

Quinn was even more confused, "Scarlett, stop teasing. We've only been apart for a few days. Even if I took growth hormones, I couldn't grow that fast."

Sebastian flipped through the documents in his hand, smiling helplessly. Brooklyn had not only become more cunning but also learned to tease people.

"A few days? That's not right. I remember we haven't seen each other for over two years. Back then, you were still in college, right? Now you're a manager at the company. They say you should look at someone with new eyes after three days. How much do you think my opinion of you should change?"

Brooklyn said this with a full smile, waiting for Quinn's reaction, her smile barely contained.

Kelly stifled her laughter.

Quinn finally snapped out of his confusion! "Brooklyn! You remember who I am! Really?"

Quinn shouted excitedly, his hands turning into claws as he moved to hug Brooklyn. Sebastian, with his long legs, swiftly stepped in, moving so fast that Quinn didn't even see how he did it!

Sebastian grabbed Quinn's arm and forcefully pulled him back.

Quinn immediately understood, chuckling awkwardly, his handsome face showing a bit of embarrassment and pride. "Brooklyn, it's great that you remember!"

Sebastian thought it was best to stay by the bedside.

Kelly suddenly remembered something and jumped up, "Oh! Brooklyn, I remember, before you went to Jabari, you asked me to give something to Sebastian. It was your wedding rings!"

Brooklyn nodded, not too surprised, "So what?"

Kelly's eyes curved as she looked at Sebastian, "Mr. Kingsley, now that Brooklyn remembers, shouldn't you return her ring?"

Kelly was always afraid someone would take Brooklyn away and wanted to protect her in every way possible.

However, Sebastian stood tall by the bed, calm as usual, his expression unchanged. "The rings are gone."

Everyone looked at him, "Gone?"

Sebastian nodded, "When we couldn't find Brooklyn's body, I buried the two rings. Our rings are probably in Tranquil Abyss."

"What? So, you don't even have your wedding rings! Tranquil Abyss, isn't that a bit too far?" Kelly asked.

Could they even find them?
