Chapter 344 There's Actually a Restaurant Like This

Scarlett's trip to Libertya started off on the wrong foot with traffic jams and an accident, leaving her feeling all kinds of pain, disgust, and irritation. She was already regretting the trip and wanted to hop on the next flight back to Emporia.

Picking up her knocked-over suitcase, Scarlett was fuming. 'In a society that follows the rules, it's one thing to be pushy, but to have zero sympathy? Not only did he not apologize, but he didn't even help pick up my suitcase! I don't know who that driver is, but I've got the license plate number. Better hope I don't see that car again, or I'll definitely get my revenge.'

Scarlett checked into the Nightfall Hotel, and upon reaching her presidential suite, hesitated briefly before answering a call from a familiar name that made her frown.

A gentle, husky voice, warm as if it were right beside her, belonged to her fiancé, Kevin. "Did you make it to Libertya?"

Scarlett held the phone between her shoulder and ear, opened the curtains, and from the top-floor suite, she could see a good view of the city. From up high, she realized many cities looked quite similar. "Yeah, I'm here."

She opened her suitcase and took out her clothes. She needed a good shower to wash away the bad luck.

"First time in Libertya, how do you feel? Do you like it?" Kevin asked.

'Such a straightforward question. Does he not know why I flew across the Tranquil Abyss from Emporia? Or did Leon not tell him?' Scarlett wondered.

"It's not what I had in mind. I'll stick around for a few days post-event and then make my way back. I won't linger."

To be honest, she didn't really like Libertya, but she didn't want him to know her true feelings.

"Give me a heads-up before your return, and I'll sort things out for you," he said.

"No need, I can handle it myself." She declined abruptly, momentarily forgetting Kevin's role.

"Scarlett." Kevin's breathing softened, as if he sighed. "I am your fiancé. Some things, I must do. Understand?"

"Sorry, I take back what I said."

"Alright, you've had a long journey. Rest up. I miss you."

Kevin lingered on the line, awaiting a reply, but Scarlett abruptly ended the call in silence.

Scarlett had almost passively accepted Kevin from her boyfriend to her fiancé. When he appeared in her life, she had no impression of him. But everyone said they were a couple.

She had no heartbeat at their first sight. His affection was natural, close, and deep, but it didn't reach her heart.

Her head started to ache again.

In the evening, Scarlett changed into a neat and refreshing casual outfit, put on a pair of sneakers, grabbed her phone and wallet, and headed out. Being new to the place, it was necessary to get familiar with the surroundings.

Besides, she didn't want to eat the dinner prepared by the hotel. Preferring Libertyaa's distinctive flavors over the uniform taste of chain hotel food, Scarlett sought out local cuisine in private kitchens.

Maple Bridge Road was a luxurious downtown street, part of the CBD commercial area, lined with high-end restaurants. After walking for over twenty minutes, Scarlett stopped in front of a restaurant called Appearance Restaurant, a chain with multiple locations in Libertya but just one in Aucester, as per online reviews.

It was a top-tier restaurant, membership-based, with a daily limit on the number of guests, known for its luxurious, and high-end offerings.

Scarlett walked to the entrance, where a waitress in a silk dress gracefully greeted her, "Excuse me, may I see your membership card?"

Scarlett frowned. "I'm not a member here."

The waitress smiled politely. "I'm sorry, ma'am. We only serve members."

"I can sign up for a membership now." Scarlett pulled out her wallet and took out a card, a Visa credit card, accepted worldwide.

But the waitress still smiled apologetically. "I'm really sorry, ma'am. We only accept ten new members a day, and we've reached our limit for today. You can come back tomorrow."

'There's actually a restaurant like this in Libertya! I can't even get a meal?' Scarlett thought as she angrily shoved the credit card back into her wallet, her face a mix of frustration, resentment, and unwillingness, and stormed off.
