Chapter 311 Megan's Miscarriage
Brooklyn glanced up, her eyes red and dry, but she wasn't about to cry in front of Jennifer. "Zach and I are just friends. I had a fever, and he let me crash here. It's just me."
Jennifer scoffed, "Brooklyn, do you even believe yourself? Did you think you wouldn't get caught getting cozy with Zach? I'm done talking. I'm telling Sebastian everything that went down tonight so he can see who you really are! You've been lying to him for three years, you slut!"
'Did those words really come out of Jennifer's mouth? The always proud and elegant Jennifer, saying that just to humiliate me?!' Brooklyn thought.
Brooklyn clenched her fists, her knuckles showing. "Jennifer, how could you humiliate me like this? You just want me out of the Kingsley family, don't you?" she shouted, her voice hoarse, like she'd been hit with something filthy and was screaming in madness.
Jennifer didn't expect Brooklyn to talk back and got even angrier, raising her hand to slap her again!
Brooklyn grabbed Jennifer's wrist. "You want me to leave Sebastian, and leave the Kingsley family. Even if there's nothing between Zach and me, you won't let it go, will you?"
Brooklyn voiced her thoughts. 'I can leave the Kingsley family, but I won't let my reputation be trashed before I go.'
Jennifer sneered, cold air practically coming off her. "That's right!"
Brooklyn suddenly laughed and looked at Megan. "Fine. Let's end this. Megan, don't you want to marry Sebastian? Are you happy now?"
'If I leave, both the Turner family and the Kingsley family will be happy,' Brooklyn thought.
Megan stepped forward and shouted, "I love Sebastian, unlike you. After marrying him, you still messed around with Zach and acted all promiscuous in front of Sebastian!"
"Shut up! Megan, it's not your place to judge me," Brooklyn snapped, thinking, 'Everyone wants to humiliate me; what do they take me for?'
Jennifer struggled to free her wrist, but Brooklyn held on tight. "Brooklyn, your marriage with Sebastian is over!"
Brooklyn knew it was over.
Megan rushed over, using both hands to pry Brooklyn's hand away. "Let go of Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley! Let go of her!"
Brooklyn almost laughed. "Megan, when acting, stick to the script. Overdoing it won't help."
Megan ignored her sarcasm and kept prying, determined to follow through with her plan.
"Get lost! This is between me and the Kingsley family; it's not your place to interfere!" Brooklyn said.
Megan gritted her teeth. "I love Sebastian! I won't let you hurt Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley!"
"Megan, step back. Watch out for the baby," Jennifer said, her voice full of concern.
"Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley, Brooklyn's disrespecting you. I can't let her get away with it!" Megan said, acting all righteous.
Brooklyn looked up and sneered, thinking, 'What a touching scene; Megan's acting is almost making me cry.'
"Brooklyn, let go!" Megan shouted.
Brooklyn released her grip, and Jennifer stumbled back a step as Megan used the momentum to fall backward!
The dull thud of a collision suddenly broke the silence in the room. Megan hit the ground, clutching her abdomen as a chair struck her midsection!
Megan screamed in agony.
"Megan! Megan, are you okay?!" Jennifer asked, panic in her voice.
Megan lay on the ground, her face pale, her breathing weak, her eyes unfocused. "Mrs. Jennifer Kingsley, my stomach..."
Jennifer's eyes widened as she saw blood pooling beneath Megan. "Megan! Megan! Someone help!"
Brooklyn stood still, her expression frozen, all emotions gone, her figure completely iced over. "Megan, you..."
'I didn't do anything. When I let go of Jennifer's hand, I didn't use any extra force. How did Megan fall so weirdly? And how did the chair hit her so precisely?' Brooklyn thought.
Megan weakly bit her lip and said, "Brooklyn, if you hate me, come at me. Why hurt my child?"
Half an hour later, outside the emergency room in the obstetrics department.
"How is Megan? Megan!" Karen and Lawrence rushed to the hospital, greeted by the closed doors of the emergency room, and Jennifer and Brooklyn.
Jennifer had her eyes closed, staying silent.
Karen grabbed Jennifer's arm, screaming hoarsely, "What happened to Megan? Speak, Jennifer!"
Brooklyn sat in a chair, her hands covered in blood, silent.
Jennifer spoke softly, "Megan had an accident. We're also waiting for the outcome."
"How could an accident happen?" Karen asked anxiously.
Jennifer opened her eyes and glanced at Brooklyn. Though she said nothing, her meaning was clear.
Karen's leather handbag, with its hard edges, came crashing down on Brooklyn! "Brooklyn! If anything happens to Megan, you'll pay the price!"
Brooklyn felt a heavy pain in her chest, almost unable to breathe.
Before she could explain, the door to the operating room opened.
Lawrence grabbed the doctor's arm, anxiously questioning, "How is my daughter? How is she?"
The doctor removed his mask, his face solemn. "Mr. Turner, Ms. Turner is out of danger..." He hesitated, clearly having more to say.
Jennifer already felt uneasy.
Karen grabbed the doctor's blood-stained white coat with both hands and asked, "What about the baby? What happened to Megan's baby?"
The doctor lowered his head in defeat. "I'm sorry; we did our best, but we couldn't save the baby."
