Chapter 335 Searching for Brooklyn

It was almost 4 AM, and the rain was coming down hard, making everything worse.

Plus, there were still aftershocks hitting every now and then.

"Dr. Mitchell!"

"Brooklyn!"

"Brooklyn!"

Sebastian and Zach yelled Brooklyn's name together, startling everyone around.

Sebastian gave a quick, cold glance before ignoring him. He clutched the umbrella with one hand and held his chest with the other, his wound screaming in pain.

"Mr. Sebastian Kingsley! You can't keep going like this. Let them handle it. If you keep pushing, you won't make it through the afternoon! Mr. Sebastian Kingsley!" the doctor warned.

"Sebastian, heed the doc. Leave it to us. We'll track down Brooklyn!" Quinn urged.

Their shouts mixed with the rain, losing strength and speed.

Sebastian's white shirt was soaked with blood, a big, glaring red stain spreading.

"Mr. Sebastian Kingsley! You have to stop!" The doctor, seeing Sebastian's reckless behavior, panicked and grabbed Dario. "Get him on the plane!"

Sebastian's umbrella hit the ground with a thud as he yelled, "Hurry up and find her!!"

"Mr. Sebastian Kingsley, you need to get on the plane first!" the doctor insisted.

"I'm fine!"

If he kept this up, he was done for!

The doctor got on the plane, pulled out a sedative, and injected it into Sebastian's arm. "Mr. Sebastian Kingsley, I'm sorry!"

"How dare you defy my orders, let go!" Sebastian struggled, and it took three or four people to hold him down so the doctor could give him the shot.

A dozen people searched everywhere—ground, bushes, low spots, behind rocks, the forest, and the earthquake-turned mounds of earth. But they found nothing.

Flashlights crisscrossed, scattering light everywhere, and the shouting never stopped.

They searched thoroughly from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM, covering a ten-mile radius, but found nothing.

The sky brightened, and the rain stopped. Zach and the others were exhausted and disheveled.

"There's just one option left. She might've fallen off the cliff. We gotta head down and check. Where the umbrella landed last is likely where she fell," Zach suggested.

Quinn wiped his hair, not sure if it was rain or sweat, his back soaked. "Makes sense. I'll go down from here. You guys wait up here!"

"I'll come along." Zach patted his shoulder and stood up. "Get the ropes set. Quinn and I are heading down."

"Dr. Carter, it's too dangerous. This cliff is a mile high. If something happens..." Piper grabbed his sleeve, but he shook her off.

Zach ignored her and said, "The injured still need you. Go back and help them."

With ropes tied around their waists, Zach and Quinn started climbing down the rocks. "Zach, when we locate Brooklyn, I'll give you a proper thank you," Quinn mentioned.

Zach clung to the rocks. "No need to thank me. Brooklyn should thank me herself."

"Alright! Brooklyn will definitely give you her thanks in person! Sebastian will too!" Quinn replied.

The rope grew longer and longer as they descended, but there were no obvious signs along the way.

Quinn suddenly pointed to a large piece of white cloth and shouted, "Clothes! There are clothes!"

A tree branch had snagged the soaked white cloth, which looked a lot like a surgical gown.

"Let's go check it out!"

"I'll go!" Quinn's agile form climbed sideways, grabbing wild grass and tree branches to retrieve the torn white cloth. He examined it closely. "Zach, it's Brooklyn's clothes! A surgical gown! She must have taken a nosedive!"

There were still bloodstains on the cloth that hadn't been washed away by the rain. She must be seriously injured. 'If something happens to Brooklyn, I want to die too!' Quinn thought. "Keep going down! Hurry!"

Several dozen inches down, they found more torn pieces of the lab coat and scraps of Brooklyn's clothes. They felt more uneasy, wondering, 'Falling from such a height, with clothes torn like this, can she still be alive?'

Quinn shook his head vigorously, thinking, 'No, no, Brooklyn will definitely survive!'

"Shoe! Her shoe!" Quinn shouted.

Brooklyn's shoe snagged on a jutting rock, resulting in a long tear with slight blood traces.

Zach picked up the shoe, his eyes suddenly burning with heat. "She must be..."

"Shut up! Brooklyn's gonna be okay! She's one tough cookie, she'll pull through!" Quinn snatched the shoe from Zach, quickly tying the lace around himself. "Don't stop searching! Brooklyn, Brooklyn!"

Zach wiped away his hot tears, his throat already hoarse, but he still shouted, "Brooklyn! Brooklyn!"

"Brooklyn! Where are you!" Quinn shouted.

"Brooklyn! Can you hear us!"

"Brooklyn's gotta be out cold. She's gotta be hurt!" Quinn was already uneasy, but he refused to admit that Brooklyn could die like this. He would rather believe that Brooklyn was hiding somewhere.

Wiping his tears fiercely, Quinn continued to slide down. There was something shiny on the ground, reflecting golden light in the sunlight. "What's that?!"

Zach followed his gaze. "Keys, Brooklyn's keys."

"I'll go get them back!" Quinn said.
