Chapter 526 Pranking Donny, Sebastian Protects His Wife

Quinn chuckled when he heard it, especially when Donny suggested Brooklyn should eat all the food tonight. Quinn finally broke his silence.

He leaned in closer to Donny, smiling, "Donny, that might not be cool, right? I love spicy food too. If Brooklyn eats it all, what am I supposed to eat?"

Donny snorted, "Quinn, stay out of this. It's between me and her."

"Sorry, Donny, but with Sebastian not home, as his brother, I gotta have Brooklyn's back. If you mess with her, you're messing with me." Quinn popped a grape into his mouth, grinning mischievously but with a serious undertone.

Brooklyn felt a warmth inside seeing Quinn stand up for her, but she didn't want Quinn to clash with Donny. Quinn was too naive to be a match for Donny, so it was better to stay neutral.

"Donny has a point. Since I asked Amarantha to make the food, I should be responsible for eating it," she said casually, as if it didn't bother her at all.

Quinn tugged at Brooklyn's sleeve, "Brooklyn, are you nuts? That's the red chili pepper. Eating it all could kill you."

Brooklyn gave him a mysterious smile. "What's there to fear? Do you think I can't handle it?"

Brian lazily chimed in, "No one's fighting you for it. Go ahead and eat."

Jennifer, worried, reminded Brooklyn, "Don't corner yourself. Just admit defeat and move on. Are you really gonna eat a whole bowl of chili?"

"You're right, but it seems too late to back down now."

As they argued, the first dish came out of the kitchen.

It was a heavily spiced chicken dish. As soon as it was brought out, the spicy aroma filled the dining room, making everyone cover their noses and look at Brooklyn with disgust.

Quinn picked up a fork. "Brooklyn, this chicken looks delicious. Don't fight me for it; I want to eat more!"

He took a big bite, not even flinching at the sight of the fiery red chili.

Brooklyn blocked his arm, "Quinn, the food might be good, but aren't you worried Amarantha might have messed up the seasoning?"

"Oh, right! I almost forgot, Amarantha never cooks. Who knows what could go wrong?"

Donny's face turned white with anger. "What nonsense! Amarantha made this food out of kindness, and you're slandering her!"

Brooklyn smiled, "Donny, I've been scared out of my wits by people before, so I have to be cautious. Can you guarantee the food is safe? Can you?!"

"Of course I can!"

"Oh? How can you guarantee it? Have you tried it?"

"No, but I will now! Watch me, Brooklyn!"

"Sure, I'm watching."

Donny grabbed a fork and took a big bite of the chicken, chewing without hesitation. The intense heat of the chili immediately made him break out in a sweat.

Amarantha had added several times more than the usual amount of chili to make Brooklyn uncomfortable. The burning sensation in Donny's stomach made his eyes water.

He hissed and shouted, "I said there's nothing wrong with the food!"

Quinn laughed so hard he almost had a stomach cramp. Brooklyn was too good at this, and Donny's intelligence was really something.

Brooklyn nodded lightly, "Donny, how does it taste? Amarantha made it herself. How is it?"

"Of course, it's good! Amarantha's cooking is always good!"

"If it's so good, why did you stop after one bite? It's a small matter to argue with me, but it's a big deal to waste Amarantha's effort. I can eat less, but don't let yourself suffer."

"You..."

Just then, the second dish arrived, a bright red chili fish, the whole plate covered in red.

"Donny, this dish doesn't look very successful."

"What are you trying to say, Brooklyn?"

"Donny, aren't you going to try it? I'm really scared. What if something goes wrong..."

Donny's lips were already swollen from the spice, but he gritted his teeth, "Just you wait!"

He took another big bite, the crunching sound making everyone in the dining room, who had been waiting to see Brooklyn suffer, cover their foreheads.

Donny was clearly being outmatched by Brooklyn!

The third dish came out, and there were six dishes in total, all fiery red, making the table look quite spectacular!

Donny tasted each dish, his mouth swollen like a sausage, breathing heavily, and gritting his teeth.

"The food is fine! Brooklyn, start eating."

Amarantha came out of the kitchen after finishing the cooking, seeing her husband with a swollen face while Brooklyn was unscathed. She quickly handed him water. "Honey, why did you eat it?"

Brian, furious, waved his hand, "What a disgrace! Hurry up and take care of it!"

Herschel, seeing his son being played by Brooklyn, was even angrier, "Donny! Put down the fork!"

"Ouch... my stomach..." Donny clutched his stomach in pain, sweating profusely. After a few bites, his stomach, unaccustomed to such spice, was in turmoil.

Seeing his son in such pain, Herschel couldn't scold him anymore and shouted, "Call a doctor!"

Brooklyn calmly walked over, "Herschel, I am a doctor. No need to call anyone."

After examining Donny, Brooklyn handed him some medicine with a serious expression, "These are for protecting your stomach and easing the intestinal burden. The effect is slow but has fewer side effects. Donny, take two now and two more at ten tonight."

Donny, in so much pain he could barely think, groaned, "Water, give me the medicine."

The dining room chaos ended, and the kitchen brought out dinner.

Brooklyn said, "Herschel, Amarantha, Donny's stomach pain could worsen at any time. If I eat the food, I might not be able to..."

Herschel gritted his teeth, "Susan! Take the food away!"

Brooklyn smiled subtly.

Dinner was pleasant, and Brooklyn was in a good mood.

After dinner, Quinn, still shaken, found Brooklyn, "Brooklyn, you're amazing. Donny's face turned all sorts of colors."

"Feeling sorry for him?"

"No, no, how could I feel sorry for him! But, Brooklyn, how did you happen to have medicine on hand?" Quinn's eyes gleamed mischievously.

Brooklyn smiled meaningfully, "Medicine is medicine, but not for treating illness. Now, it's time to rest."

"Not for illness? I get it! Brooklyn, did you give him a laxative?"

Quinn laughed heartily.

Brooklyn didn't answer, "Aren't you going to bed? Or do you want to eat red chili too?"

"Haha! No way! Going to bed now!"

That night, Brooklyn lay in bed, the large bed feeling empty. It was a lie to say she wasn't affected by the craziness upstairs last night. She missed him even more now, his scent, his embrace, everything about him.

The second night.

At least tonight, there wouldn't be any more wild scenes.

Hugging a pillow, Brooklyn smiled faintly.

Suddenly, there was a flurry of footsteps upstairs, followed by the sound of doors opening and closing.

Brooklyn glanced at the time. The medicine was working quickly!

Donny probably wouldn't even make it back to bed tonight.

Meanwhile, in Averlake.

Sebastian sat by the sunlit window, reading documents, when his phone rang.

"Sebastian, I've got some juicy news for you. It'll wake you right up!"

Quinn excitedly recounted everything that had happened at the Kingsley family over the past two days, ending with, "Isn't Brooklyn awesome? She was amazing in making Donny eat those chilies today!"

Sebastian held his coffee cup, smiling deeply, "My wife, of course, she's awesome."

On his phone screen, the photos Quinn sent showed a lively scene, with Brooklyn handling everything effortlessly.

As he swiped through the photos, Sebastian's eyes softened at the sight of Brooklyn's delicate, mischievous face.

But before his smile could fade, a fierce glint appeared in Sebastian's eyes.

Donny and Amarantha had the audacity to bully Brooklyn openly.

They were asking for it!

In his absence, they dared to be so arrogant, huh!

Sebastian picked up his phone and called Dario.

"Boss, is there something special in Averlake?"

"Not Averlake, at home. Starting tomorrow morning, you will personally pick up Brooklyn from the Kingsley Villa for work."

"Yes, sir."

"And bring a bouquet of camellias."

"Got it, boss. Anything else?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "Send a bed to Donny, and tell him not to disturb my wife's rest."

Dario could accept the first two, but the last one? Was he overthinking it?

"Yes, boss."

Sebastian tapped his fingers on the table, "Buy a hundred pounds of newspapers for Amarantha. Tell her to tear them up if she's bored. She'll understand."

The more Dario listened, the more confused he became. What was the boss asking for?

"Yes, boss."

After giving his instructions, Sebastian checked the time.

It was time to meet Brooklyn's mentor.

A black Rolls-Royce stopped outside a countryside villa. At first glance, it looked similar to the house Brooklyn had once invited him to visit, but this one was a larger version.

Made entirely of wood, with a small garden filled with herbs, the surrounding area was fragrant with the scent of medicinal plants.

Sebastian stepped out of the car, his tailored suit accentuating his tall, distinguished figure. He walked up the stone steps, the lush herbs occasionally brushing against his pants. The fresh country air was quite refreshing.

The courtyard was quiet, with many herbs drying in the sun, filling the air with a faint bitterness.

Sebastian frowned slightly. Just from the courtyard's decor, he could tell this was a reclusive and difficult person.

He knocked on the wooden door, but there was no response.

Sebastian frowned. Not home?

"Who are you looking for?"

A lazy voice came from behind, tinged with impatience and a bit of disdain.

Sebastian turned to see an elderly man, around sixty-five, dressed in loose linen robes, holding a cigarette and a purple clay teapot, looking quite like a hermit.

"You..."

Before Sebastian could speak, the man's teapot suddenly fell to the ground, shattering into pieces, spilling tea everywhere!

"You, you, you're Alaric Pemberton? You're still alive?"
