Chapter 294 Chased All the Way Home

Late at night, Sebastian's voice got all soft and sweet, but there was no answer. The room was dead silent, not a peep.

He strained his ears, but he couldn't even hear breathing.

Sebastian's hands fumbled around in the dark, feeling along the bed, but Brooklyn was nowhere to be found!

She wasn't on the bed at all.

Sebastian ripped the blanket away, and in the dim light, he saw a pillow under the blanket. Brooklyn was long gone.

"Brooklyn?"

He flicked on the light and checked everywhere in the room, confirming she had already bailed.

Sebastian stormed out, marching to the nurse's station, and questioned, "Where's my wife?"

'If this nurse says she doesn't know who my wife is, I'm gonna lose it,' Sebastian thought.

The nurse, shaking, said, "I don't know, either. She was just here. Mrs. Kingsley didn't go through discharge procedures."

'Damn it! She must be pissed and ran off. This fool actually chose to escape? With Brooklyn's personality, she definitely has the guts and the means to avoid me, making it impossible for me to find her.' Just thinking this made Sebastian anxious.

Sebastian bolted downstairs, realizing he didn't have his car keys or phone. His tall figure, like a warrior on a mission, ran to the hospital entrance, fuming.

Sebastian flagged down a car, not caring who the owner was. He yanked the person out of the driver's seat and tossed his watch, "Take it. You could buy 100 cars with that."

The owner was still in shock as the car sped away, leaving them dumbfounded.

'She won't go to Bayside Villas.' Thinking of this, Sebastian headed straight to Brooklyn's rented place.

Brooklyn locked the door, turned on the light, and pulled a suitcase from under the bed, starting to pack her things.

This was the best time for her to leave. If she didn't go now, she feared she'd get too attached, and even more afraid of breaking her own heart before leaving.

She roughly wiped away her tears. She should've known better than to cry for Sebastian. Once it started, it would never end.

She packed some clothes and put the jewelry Stephen left her into the suitcase.

Ironically, she had lived here for over three years, and the house was filled with furniture and decorations she had bought. Now, she couldn't even fill a single suitcase with what she could take.

As she was mocking herself, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Brooklyn closed the suitcase and shoved it next to the counch. She thought it was Zach dropping by. She walked to the door, ready to open it, but through the peephole, she saw Sebastian!

'What the hell is he doing here? Shouldn't he be with Megan right now? Whether he wants to or not, he should be with her,' she thought.

"Brooklyn, you're in there, aren't you?" Sebastian shouted.

There was light coming from under the door; she had to be inside.

Brooklyn didn't respond. The door between them felt like a barrier between two worlds, so close yet so far.

Sebastian's heavy breathing gradually calmed. His deep voice sounded tired as he spoke through the door, "I can explain everything that happened today. Just let me in first."

Brooklyn didn't speak, leaning against the door, quietly listening to his voice as she thought, 'I am such a wuss. As soon as he speaks, my world seems to light up.'

Sebastian sighed deeply, sounding extremely helpless and sorrowful, "I know you're mad at me, but how can you vent if you don't let me in? You can hit me, scold me, punish me, but you can't stay silent, you can't run away."

Brooklyn closed her eyes, tilting her head back as tears rolled down her cheeks and neck. She thought, 'Damn Sebastian, he is the one who did wrong, who abandoned me at the crucial moment, and now he acts like a victim.'

Sebastian took a deep breath and asked, "You're not going to open the door, are you?"

Brooklyn wanted to retort but she remained silent.

After a while, she heard a faint click from the lock, and Brooklyn was stunned, thinking, 'How does Sebastian have the key to my door?'

Seeing the door about to open, Brooklyn pressed her hands against it, shouting, "Sebastian, don't come in! I don't want to see you!"

Sebastian, however, continued to turn the doorknob and said, "I want to see you."

With that, he forcefully turned the doorknob. Sebastian was strong, and pushing down a weak Brooklyn was no challenge.

"Brooklyn."

Sebastian's tall figure entered, tightly embracing the slender Brooklyn. His arms locked around her, giving her no room to struggle.

"Let go of me, Sebastian!" Brooklyn was angry, thinking, 'What does this mean? Is he a professional rogue?'

Sebastian, however, tightened his grip, his chin resting on her head. His voice was rough from the effort, "I won't let go until I finish talking. Stay still, or I don't know what I'll do."

"Let go first!" she shouted.

Sebastian kicked the door shut, carrying her to the living room, asking, "Do you want to sit on the counch or on the bed?"
