Chapter 63 Damn, Injured Again
The arrival of the popular A-list star at the hospital for a prenatal check-up was enough to cause a sensation in the whole city. Just the influence of Megan's name alone could dominate the front page headlines of newspapers.
With Sebastian from the MBK Group accompanying her, the sensation and impact were beyond words.
Along with Brooklyn, although they acted low-key and drove directly to the underground parking lot, they couldn't escape the reporters' pursuit and blockade.
Seeing Sebastian's luxurious Rolls-Royce come to a stop, a large group of reporters rushed in, resembling a pack of sharks smelling blood.
Inside the car, Brooklyn lightly furrowed her brows. She was not part of the entertainment industry, and up to this point, she was completely an outsider to this matter. Seeing a large group of people holding microphones and cameras completely blocking the car, she felt both amused and annoyed.
Sebastian also furrowed his brows and turned to Megan. "We can't get out now. There are too many people. It's dangerous."
His concern was naturally appreciated by Megan, who immediately smiled gently and nodded. "You are right, I'll wait in the car for a while."
Brooklyn, uninvolved, pursed her lips. "Judging by their act, it seems they won't give up easily. Famous stars should know how terrifying the dedication of entertainment reporters can be, right? They can stake out without eating or drinking for a day and night. Just sitting in the car won't solve the problem."
Sebastian lazily shifted his gaze towards Brooklyn, his icy voice almost devoid of emotion. "So, do you have a solution?"
Brooklyn furrowed her brows, about to speak, when Megan interjected, "Sebastian probably doesn't know yet, but she's quite capable of handling these things. Last time when I went to the hospital to see you, she was the one who drove away the reporters blocking the corridor."
Brooklyn sneered. Was Megan the type who wouldn't rest as long as she had taken the opportunity to complain? She had quite the memory!
"Sebastian, I think this time, we should let Dr. Mitchell handle it, right? She's the doctor here, very experienced."
Megan always spoke softly, her sweet and cloying voice almost making Brooklyn want to vomit.
Before Brooklyn could settle her stimulated digestive system, Sebastian's slow and deep voice came, "Since you're so experienced, you can handle the reporters outside."
Her eyes widened. "Me?"
"What? Do you need my intervention on your own turf?" His resolute and domineering tone cut off her explanation without hesitation.
Brooklyn lightly bit her lip, 'Is he suggesting that Megan should just sit tight in the car while she's out there dealing with the riffraff?'
With a cold smile, she unbuckled her seatbelt. "Fine, I'll go."
As the car door opened, Brooklyn's slender figure was immediately engulfed by the reporters' crowd. Despite her tall figure, she was pushed and jostled among the mixed group of male and female reporters, her feet lifted off the ground several times!
"Ms. Turner! Mr. Kingsley personally brought you for a prenatal check-up. Does this mean good news is on the way for you both?"
"Mr. Kingsley, Ms. Turner mentioned endorsing MBK Group's jewelry recently. Will this be put on hold?"
"Mr. Kingsley, will Ms. Turner's new movie also be halted? It's said that you will compensate the production team for any losses, is that true?"
The clamor of questions bombarded them, and like a raging storm, it all flooded into the car through the still-open door. Sebastian's outstretched arm grasped the handle of the carriage, his sharp gaze scanning the crowd. In the midst of the zombie-like throng of journalists, a fragile figure staggered askew.
"Ah!"
Compared to the intertwined cacophony of questions, Brooklyn's scream was not particularly loud, yet it caused Sebastian's brows to furrow deeply.
With a 'bang', he fiercely slammed shut the co-pilot seat's door, his hand instinctively gripping the handle on his left.
"Sebastian, these reporters are really scary. I'm a bit worried about the baby." Megan's soft voice came from behind him, full of helplessness and sorrow, stirring a sense of compassion within him.
"It's okay, she'll handle it."
Sebastian's gaze returned to the crowd, but Brooklyn's figure was nowhere to be found.
"Huh!"
Brooklyn's knee throbbed with pain, she took a deep breath heavily, and the scabbed wound on her knee from before reopened during the recent collision, sending a piercing pain throughout her body. Luckily, she finally squeezed out of the crowd!
Brooklyn gritted her teeth and stood up straight, preparing to find the security personnel. A black figure swiftly moved in front of her, and she suddenly felt her vision darken. When she looked up again, a particularly clean and gentle face was right above her.
"Why are you here?"
Zach supported the swaying Brooklyn with one hand.
"Me? I'm late, didn't expect to run into such a big scene. How are you?"
"I'm fine, I need to find security to get the reporters out, Megan is in the car."
Zach glanced down at her pants which had been already soaked in blood, raising an eyebrow. "Your knee needs immediate attention, I'll take you up."
"Don't bother. Find security first. Megan came for a prenatal check-up today. If something happens, it won't be good for the hospital." Brooklyn resisted, reaching out to break free from his support.
Zach's furrowed brows deepened. "I don't know Megan, but your knee needs immediate attention. Judging by the color of the blood, this wound seems to have been there for more than a day or two. Come with me."
