Chapter 419 Wanting to Be Part of Your Happiness

"Kevin, don't you think it is childish and boring?"

Facing Kevin's provocation, Scarlett gave a cold smile. She really didn't want to delve into Kevin's logic, nor did she understand what his point was.

Kevin also gave a faint smile after her, somewhat self-deprecating but not at all embarrassed. "I thought you would call me shameless. It seems you are kinder than I imagined. A woman as kind as you, why wouldn't I fight for you? And..." His smile deepened, "Why wouldn't I succeed?"

"Kevin, your tyrannical logic doesn't really fit in matters of the heart. You may be a businessman, but emotions aren't investments; you can't predict the risks, avoid losses, and aim for profit. Kevin, I wish you happiness. I hope you know your limits, for both our sakes, all right?"

Kevin stood up from the sofa, picked up his suit, and elegantly draped it over his arm, as if he had just had a cup of coffee with Scarlett rather than an emotional negotiation, so composed.

"Scarlett, no matter what your identity is, I won't let go easily. I want to be part of your happiness."

After he finished speaking, he frowned, showing a rare look of melancholy and loss. "I thought I could marry you, but now it feels like a dream. You shattered it with your own hands. You are really cruel."

After saying this, he walked out of the room with long strides, leaving Scarlett with a somewhat lonely back.

Suddenly, Scarlett felt she had hurt a good person.

To be honest, she had to admit that in matters of love, it was hard to say who was right or wrong. Loving someone was not a mistake, but the one who rejected inevitably became the executioner, turning the knife directly on the other person.

At this moment, Scarlett's phone rang.

The screen displayed Quinn's name.

Scarlett couldn't help but rub her forehead again. She had almost rubbed her brows raw these past two days. Quinn probably already knew her identity by now, which was quite embarrassing to think about.

Scarlett would need a long time to process such a messy relationship with him.

She swiped open the phone, and a video from Quinn lay on the screen.

She opened the video, and the lively, luxurious banquet hall came into view. It was clearly a gathering of high society, but as the camera turned, Scarlett saw Sebastian standing in the center of the hall.

There was some murmuring in the background of the recording, but it wasn't noisy, so Sebastian's voice came through clearly to Scarlett.

In front of all the guests, he openly rejected the engagement with Megan, decisively and without leaving any room for negotiation, so resolute that it seemed ruthless to others.

But Scarlett silently smiled through her tears, the sparkling tears on her cheeks giving her face a faint silver sheen, bright like a burning torch.

He said, "My wife has returned."

She had no memories of Sebastian before, but at that moment, Scarlett almost believed that she was indeed Sebastian's lover. Perhaps there had been many unpleasant moments between them, but now, it was all in the past. His protection and decisiveness, were all for her.

That was enough.

Just as the video ended, Quinn sent a text message: [Although I don't want to admit that you are my brother's wife, seeing Sebastian stand against the world for you, I feel like I've lost.]

Scarlett looked at Quinn's message, almost able to imagine the young, handsome Quinn's helpless expression. She had to admit, such a Quinn was very cute!

At this moment, Quinn was lying on the sofa in his bedroom, head resting on his arm, poking at his phone screen in frustration. So frustrated!

Despite his strong reluctance, he sent another message, and his mouth turned into a deflated balloon, completely devoid of air.

[And because of you, my brother is probably now the biggest villain in Aucester. Who knows how many people hate him now, so you'd better come back soon.]

Scarlett saw the message and suddenly laughed. If it weren't for Diana resting, she would have laughed out loud. Quinn was really cute!

Quinn and Sebastian had completely different auras. Oh, if Sebastian had a side like Quinn's, it would be quite amusing to think about.

Scarlett was about to reply when Quinn sent another message.

Scarlett was about to reply when Quinn sent another message: [By the way, you can choose to forget about me pursuing you. I didn't know your identity at the time. Now that I do, rest assured, I won't have any inappropriate thoughts. You are my sister-in-law, and you always will be.]

Suddenly, his tone changed, becoming serious.

Scarlett thought for a moment, tapped the screen, and replied: [Quinn, I'll be back in Libertya soon. Do you still dare to race me?]

Brooklyn was looking quite valiant now!

[Anytime! I'll beat you again.]

"Mr. Turner, the stock market opened today and hit the limit down again. If this continues, The Turner Group might face a crisis. We should find a way to remedy this now." Lawrence's assistant said.

Lawrence clasped his hands tightly, looking up at the computer screen. The green curve was like a knife; he couldn't avoid it and had to face it head-on. "Sell the stocks, cash out first, and try to keep the financial gap under control."

"Will this provide an opportunity for those who are watching like hawks? After all, the news about Ms. Turner breaking off her engagement with the Kingsley family is already out. People who once invested in The Turner Group because of the Kingsley family's backing might now waver in their confidence in The Turner Group."

Lawrence shook his head. "Don't worry about that for now. Also, investigate thoroughly if someone is manipulating this behind the scenes. If anyone is maliciously attacking The Turner Group's stock, we will not tolerate it."

"Yes, Mr. Turner."

Lawrence, feeling a bit of a headache, propped his head up. "You can go now."

The Turner Group, under Lawrence's control, was indeed a dominant conglomerate in Aucester. However, in the volatile financial sector, especially for a real estate-linked industrial company, no one could predict what would happen.

He had originally planned to rely on the Kingsley family, but now that plan had fallen through. The Turner Group's flaws were becoming apparent, and he needed to find a way to revitalize the company.

His relationship with the Kingsley family couldn't be severed just yet.

So Lawrence dialed Brian's number.

In the chairman's office of MBK Group, Brian was discussing the continuous decline of The Turner Group's stock with Yancy when the phone unexpectedly rang.

"Lawrence, what brings you to call me?"

Brian and Lawrence were old business friends. The real estate tycoon and the construction materials magnate were once legends of their time. But as times changed, the industry evolved, and new generations rose, they were gradually stepping off.

Lawrence laughed heartily. "Brian, it's been a while since I heard you call me that. Hearing it now, it feels like we're back to when we first established ourselves in Aucester. In the blink of an eye, it's been over thirty years. Time flies!"

Yancy handed Brian a cup of tea, which he took, sniffed, and sipped. "Time does fly. It's a young people's world now. We old folks are of no use anymore."

"Not at all. You're now the top leader of MBK Group. Half of Libertya's business is in your hands. If you say that, people like me would really have no place to hide."

Brian took another sip of tea. It was very clear why Lawrence was calling him now—he wanted his help.

"Now, I've basically handed over the reins of MBK Group to Sebastian and Quinn. As for myself, I just come to the office to rest."

Lawrence and Brian chatted for a long time. Lawrence couldn't hold his composure any longer and, with an awkward smile, finally said, "Brian, you must have seen today's stock market, right? The Turner Group is facing a bit of trouble. Brian, we've been partners for years, and now..."

Lawrence indirectly expressed his intentions, even though he had to swallow his pride.

Brian played with the purple clay teacup in his hand. "The Kingsley family and the Turner family have a long-standing relationship. Lawrence, you didn't hold Sebastian's immaturity against him, so of course, I will help you."

Lawrence quickly laughed. "Well, you know, it's understandable."

A few minutes later, Brian hung up the phone.

Yancy asked, puzzled, "Mr. Kingsley, are you really going to help The Turner Group?"

Brian put down the teacup and said calmly, "The Turner Group's crisis is a bottomless pit. I can help him once to make him shut up, but after that, he won't have any reason to ask for my help again."

Yancy listened attentively.

Brian continued, "Favors are used up one by one. If The Turner Group faces another crisis in the future, he'll have no choice but to sit at the negotiation table and deal with me."

"Then, what if he doesn't appreciate it? Wouldn't the money you invest today be wasted?" Yancy asked.

Brian chuckled lightly. "If he doesn't appreciate it, why should I keep him around?"

In the hospital park, a warm breeze gently blew, carrying the scent of unknown flowers, fresh and clean.

Scarlett was pushing a wheelchair, walking with Leon and Diana in the garden.

"Scarlett, did you really cancel the engagement with Kevin? Are you sure about this?"

Diana had regained consciousness, and the first thing she did upon waking up was to grab Scarlett's hand and ask about the engagement. As a mother, she naturally cared most about Scarlett's happiness, especially since Kevin was a good match.

Scarlett nodded. "Mom, we've thought it through. It's better to end it."

Diana nodded. "I understand. You've always been hesitant and unwilling to marry, probably because you felt you weren't suited to be with him. No matter what your decision is, I support you. After all, you're my most beloved child."

Scarlett let go of the wheelchair and leaned into Diana's arms, acting like a child. "Mom, I'm really lucky to be your daughter. I wish I could always be your daughter."

Diana stroked her long hair and smiled kindly. "Scarlett, you will always be my daughter. Even after you get married, you'll still be my most precious daughter."

Leon stepped forward, took over the wheelchair, and said, "Diana, Scarlett still has projects to complete in Libertya. She needs to go back. She's asked me several times, worried you wouldn't agree."

Diana was silent for a moment. "I've heard about your project in Libertya. It's a charity project, which is a good thing. I support you. A doctor should heal and save lives. Go ahead, don't worry about me. I'll be here waiting for you to come back."

Scarlett's eyes welled up, almost crying again. "Okay, Mom, wait for me to come back."

Diana held Scarlett's hand and said earnestly, "Since you don't like Kevin, if you meet someone you like in Libertya, bring him back for me to see."

"Okay! I definitely will."
