Chapter 356 He Actually Fell Asleep

Scarlett's soft little hand worked its magic on his chest, using just the right amount of pressure and skill. Sebastian, who had been all tense in her arms, finally started to relax.

Not wanting to freak him out again, Scarlett stayed kneeling on the hard floor, massaging him for who knew how long. Eventually, Sebastian's breathing evened out. She placed her palm on his chest to check his heartbeat, which had finally stabilized.

Man, that was a close call.

"How are you feeling now?" Scarlett asked softly, but Sebastian didn't say a word.

"Sir? Are you feeling better? Does it still hurt?" She raised her voice a bit, but still, no response. What was up with him?

She looked down and saw Sebastian, lying in her arms, head tilted and eyes closed, actually asleep.

Scarlett frowned. How could he fall asleep in this condition? It wasn't exactly normal to sleep through such pain.

Struggling to get up, Scarlett felt her knees aching. "Ouch," she muttered, realizing her knees were probably scraped.

"Seriously? I have to carry you to the second floor? Do you know how heavy you are? How am I supposed to get you down there? Wake up first!" Scarlett tried to negotiate with him, but talking to an unconscious Sebastian was clearly pointless.

Fine! She had to suck it up; after all, he was sick.

Scarlett used all her strength, trying different positions and leverage points, and finally managed to carry Sebastian down to the second floor. As she placed him on the bed, she collapsed onto the soft bed herself from the effort.

She looked down, almost face-to-face with Sebastian. This close-up view took Scarlett's breath away.

Sebastian looked so different when he was sleeping, not so cold and sharp. Instead, he had a somewhat melancholic look, with his brows furrowed.

Furrowing brows all the time would easily cause wrinkles. Feeling compassionate, Scarlett used two fingers to smooth out his brow and massaged his forehead a few times. Finally, Sebastian's brows relaxed.

A lock of dark hair covered half of his forehead, shading his eyes, making them appear even deeper and more defined. His eyelashes were long, casting dappled shadows on his eyelids under the light.

His facial features were strikingly chiseled, with a high nose bridge and thin lips pressed into a line, showing how much effort he had put into enduring the pain.

His endurance was quite impressive. Such pain would have knocked an average person out, but he stayed conscious until the end.

He was pitifully strong.

Using both hands, she adjusted his position, placed a pillow under his head, and pulled a blanket over him. After making sure he was okay, Scarlett stood up, her knees throbbing with pain again.

What bad luck to get involved with him.

Scarlett returned to her bedroom, tossing and turning all night. Brooklyn? The name he called out, who was she? Probably not the woman they had dinner with last time, right?

What a jerk, dating two women at the same time! Shameless! If she had known, she wouldn't have saved him!

The next morning, Sebastian woke up from his sleep, feeling the blanket and pausing. How did he end up here? How did he fall asleep?

A flash of memory crossed his mind. Did he have an episode last night?

Opening the drawer, he took out a metal box, inside which seven pills were neatly arranged. So, he hadn't taken the sleeping pills last night and still fell asleep?

Rubbing his forehead, Sebastian remembered that his last memory from last night was in the locked room on the third floor, no, more precisely, he was in Scarlett's arms.

Damn it! How could this happen!

Pulling back the heavy silk curtains, he saw Scarlett running back through the window. Her clean forehead was still sweaty, and her rosy face looked healthy and vibrant.

Sebastian dialed a number.

"Hey, Mr. Kingsley, it's been a while since you called me. What's up?" Brandon was in Averlake, about to start a night of debauchery.

The noisy DJ sound effects from the receiver made Sebastian hold the phone five inches away in disdain.

"Find a quiet place. I need to talk to you." Sebastian said.

The edge of seriousness in his voice made the partyer sit up straighter; this was no ordinary call. So Brandon nodded, "Okay, give me a minute."

After a while, it finally quieted down.

"I'm in a quiet place now. Go ahead, what does the usually calm Mr. Kingsley want to share with me?" Brandon leaned against a corner wall, his head resting on it, while outside, the neon lights of Emporcia's beautiful night shone brightly.

"I fell asleep last night..." Sebastian said.

"Is that rare?" Brandon was confused.

"Without taking the pills," Sebastian added.

"What? You've been on those pills for almost two years, right? What happened? Are you cured? Are there any side effects? Are you clear-headed now?" Brandon bombarded him with questions. He was so shocked by the news that he wished he could shake Sebastian in person to make sure he wasn't sleepwalking.

Sebastian watched the running figure outside disappear, "No side effects, and last night, I had a heart attack but didn't take any medication."

Brandon gasped, utterly shocked by Sebastian's words, his eyes almost popping out.

Sebastian heard all sorts of strange noises from the other end but waited patiently for him to calm down.

"What happened?" Brandon was puzzled.

"I met a female doctor. Listen to me, don't interrupt. Her name is Scarlett Taylor, from Averlake, in her twenties, a cardiac surgeon. These details aren't important. The key is, her voice is very similar to Brooklyn's." Sebastian explained.

Brandon tried to stay calm, resisting the urge to curse, "And then? Is she..."

"No. Her looks, personality, and habits are all different from Brooklyn's." Sebastian guessed what Brandon wanted to ask. So he answered directly.

"Then why are you telling me this! Got me all excited for nothing. So, what are you going to do? Do you have feelings for her?" Brandon was helpless.

Sebastian fell silent, his blue eyes filled with coldness and a touch of loneliness, "No."

Probably, apart from Brooklyn, he would never have feelings for any other woman again.
