Chapter 411 Good Son-in-law, Good Daughter-in-law
Scarlett didn't dare to make any assumptions about Kevin's identity, so she didn't ask any more questions.
At this moment, she envied the heroines in romance novels who got a second chance at life, they at least had their complete memories intact. The lucky ones even had the memories of two lifetimes.
She thought, if a person could have the memories and skills of two people at the same time, it would be easy to make a comeback.
Moreover, they had all gone through their share of setbacks and betrayals. When given another chance, they could easily avoid past pitfalls, rebuild their power, and deal with scumbags without breaking a sweat.
But what about her?
Reality was so cruel that it gave her a headache.
It was bad enough that she didn't have Scarlett's memories, but she didn't even have Brooklyn's memories.
Damn it!
With her eyes closed, Scarlett's thoughts were, of course, unknown to Kevin.
Her gains in Libertya were indeed significant.
Scarlett smiled bitterly.
The car stopped in the courtyard of The Taylor villa.
Leon standing outside the door, waiting to welcome her with pushing Diana.
"Scarlett! You're finally back! I missed you so much! Come over here!"
Her beloved parents had treated her with utmost care for more than two years, treating her as their own. It didn't seem like an act at all. Were they genuinely affectionate, or were they just excellent actors?
Scarlett realized her thoughts were quite shameless.
She ran over with a smile, bent down obediently, and hugged Diana. "Mom, I missed you too. I came back as soon as I finished my work over there."
Diana lovingly caressed her cheek and nodded with satisfaction. "I was worried you wouldn't get used to the food in Libertya and would lose weight. Fortunately, you didn't lose weight, it seems like you even gained a little."
"Libertya has a lot of delicious food. I really liked it."
After catching up with her parents, the four of them walked back to the hall together. Scarlett took over the wheelchair from Leon and pushed Diana. Kevin placed his hand on hers, not in a flirtatious way but rather considerately, and smiled, "Let me help you."
Diana was very pleased with Kevin. "While you were away, Kevin came to see me every day. He said you couldn't accompany me and was afraid I'd be lonely. He is so thoughtful."
Scarlett gratefully said, "Thank you."
"It's what I should do. No need to thank me." Kevin smiled.
Diana also smiled, turned over, and patted Scarlett's hand. "In the future, when you marry Kevin, you must treat your in-laws well. Kevin is a good son-in-law, and you should be an even better daughter-in-law!"
Leon laughed heartily, "Wverything is good! Kevin is a good son-in-law, and Scarlett is a good daughter-in-law. Otherwise, how could they be such a perfect match?"
Scarlett forced a smile.
Did they really look forward to Kevin and Scarlett getting married that much?
Were they sincere, or did they have other plans?
She had too many questions, shrouded in mystery, but she couldn't uncover the truth just yet.
Since she was back and knew that lies indeed existed, she had to find out everything. At the very least, she couldn't blindly enter a marriage.
Libertya
[The high-priced project collapsed, and MBK Group's extravagance shocked everyone.]
[MBK Group voluntarily demolished the finishing mall. What is it trying to do?]
The news was everywhere. MBK Group's mall was on the front pages of all newspapers, magazines, and online news. The news, finance, real estate, and building materials industries were all abuzz with discussions.
However, Sebastian sat in his office, unaffected, reviewing documents, signing them, methodically.
There was a knock on the door, and without looking up, he said, "Come in."
Dario, with a layer of sweat on his forehead, his suit and tie in disarray, and his hair a mess, swallowed hard. "Mr. Kingsley, reporters have blocked the entrance. They insist on interviewing you about the mall."
His breathless voice caught Sebastian's attention. He looked up from a pile of documents and looked at him. "Since when do reporters have such power? Just because they want to interview me, I have to go down and be interviewed?"
"Mr. Kingsley, these aren't ordinary reporters. They are from some of the most authoritative TV stations and newspapers. I'm afraid you can't just brush them off."
Aucester's TV stations and some of the country's top authoritative websites had sent a large group of people, all representing the domestic news.
Sebastian, holding a pen, interlocked his fingers and chuckled. "Dealing with these reporters is simple. They love to hear grandiose explanations. You don't need me to teach you that, do you?"
Dario adjusted his glasses. "I understand, Mr. Kingsley. Don't worry."
Sebastian pointed at him. "They not only like to hear nice words but also like to see well-dressed people. Are you going out like this?"
Dario looked at himself. How did he end up like this?
Dario awkwardly chuckled a few times. "I was almost squeezed in by the reporters just now. Luckily, Mr. Kingsley, you were smart to come early."
Could it be that Sebastian was going to tell him he arrived at three in the morning?
Of course, Sebastian wouldn't tell him that on the first night Scarlett left, he couldn't sleep all night. He wandered around every corner of the house, he even took sleeping pills.
But it had no effect. His mind was terrifyingly clear. The more he smelled her scent in the house, the clearer he became.
So, he had no choice but to escape to the company, only to find the building surrounded by reporters.
"Alright, go ahead."
Twenty minutes later.
[MBK Group, in promoting the concepts of humanity, nature, and environmental protection, not only established Aucester Hospital and launched a heart rescue program but also plans to convert the site originally intended for a large upscale shopping center into a large amusement park primarily serving children...]
[As the largest conglomerate in Aucester, MBK Group has once again set an industry example by incorporating children and charity into its corporate culture.]
The narrative shifted, and the negative terms like "showing off wealth," "burning money," and "project accident" were completely replaced. MBK Group quickly topped various lists and became a trending topic.
What's more, Sebastian and Brian's names were now associated with titles like "conscientious entrepreneurs," "benefactors of the world," and "wealthy yet noble."
Within just a few hours, MBK Group's PR, advertising, and marketing departments had disseminated the promotional plan that Sebastian had worked on overnight across TV stations, the internet, print magazines, subways, and bus stops. MBK Group's good name became the hottest company in Aucester.
Brian, holding a magazine, shifted his gaze from dark anger to a light smile. "Yancy, what do you think of this?"
Yancy bowed his head and said, "Mr. Brian Kingsley, I must say, Mr. Sebastian Kingsley's PR skills are impressive. In just a few hours, he managed to silence the critics and turn negative news into positive news. He even took the opportunity to give MBK Group a strong advertisement. The group will surely rise to a new level."
Brian tossed the magazine aside and grunted, "Sebastian indeed has quite the skills, which is exactly why it worries me."
The last sentence seemed more like he was talking to himself.
Yancy said, "Mr. Brian Kingsley, it's a good thing that Mr. Sebastian Kingsley is young and capable. He can shoulder the responsibilities of MBK Group in the future."
Brian's sharp gaze turned cold, with a hidden menace, "It can be a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. His brilliance might overshadow me, forgetting who built MBK Group's power."
Yancy realized he had misspoken. Brian and Sebastian were like a ruler and his minister, when it came to personal interests, blood relations meant nothing.
Moreover, Brian had more than one son besides Sebastian.
Seeing Yancy lower his head and remain silent, Brian let out a heavy sigh, picked up his cup, brushed away the tea leaves, and took a sip. "Call Quinn over."
"Got it!"
Aucester Hospital
Having just finished a surgery, Zach's eyes were a bit sore. He took off his mask, rubbed the corners of his eyes, and while changing clothes, overheard two male doctors chatting.
One doctor said, "No wonder Dr. Taylor left suddenly. It turns out she went back to Averlake to get married. I wonder what kind of man such a perfect woman like Scarlett is marrying. We can only sigh in admiration!"
The other doctor replied, "He must be either rich or noble, or both. Dr. Taylor is not an ordinary person. We should be content just to kmow her. Goddesses are meant to be admired from afar."
Zach's heart ached almost to the point of cramping, and he pressed against the wall in panic.
Scarlett went back to Averlake to get married?
How could that be?
"Dr. Carter, are you okay?" The male doctor noticed Zach's pale face and asked.
"I'm fine."
After making a perfunctory remark, Zach felt a sharp pain in his heart and sat down in the chair. He thought he could salvage something, but in the end, it was all just wishful thinking and fantasy on his part.
Brooklyn was his fantasy, and so was Scarlett.
It was truly ironic.
As he walked out of the changing room, Zach ran into Lisa, who was about to leave.
Lisa enthusiastically gave him a thumbs up. "Zach, you were amazing!"
Zach nodded woodenly. "Thank you."
Wait, if Scarlett went back to Averlake, why didn't her assistant go with her? If she was getting married, she shouldn't be coming back, so why leave Lisa behind?
"Lisa, Scarlett hurried back to Averlake. Don't you and Cory need to accompany her?" He asked.
Lisa shrugged and furrowed her brow. "Scarlett went to handle personal matters. Cory and I can't interfere. Besides, this is a project she took over. With her gone, we have to take over."
"What personal matters?"
Lisa pouted. "Scarlett didn't tell us."
Such a big event as getting married, and she didn't even tell her assistant?
Was she really getting married?
"Dr. Carter! Wow! It's really you! Oh my God! I'm not dreaming, am I?" Kelly saw Zach and, like she had won the lottery, rushed over, shouting excitedly, not caring that they were in a hospital.
It was been over two years! Zach actually came back!
Zach smiled at Kelly. "Ms. Wilson, long time no see."
Kelly unceremoniously patted his arm. He had already changed into a suit, ready to leave. Compared to the clean and efficient look of his white coat, he looked very elegant and handsome. "Wow! You are Even more handsome than before!"
"Ms. Wilson, you look even more beautiful. So, are you feeling unwell?"
This was a hospital, after all. She couldn't be here just for fun.
Kelly waved the test results in her hand. "My dad was sick. But he's fine now, I am just handling the discharge paperwork."
Zach nodded. "That's good. Give my regards to your father."
Kelly didn't like the formalities. "Dr. Carter, why are you back?"
Zach gave a brief explanation.
Kelly pondered for a moment, then suddenly jumped up. "Oh, have you met a doctor named Scarlett? She's at this hospital! Her voice is super similar to Brooklyn's!"
Zach looked at Kelly in disbelief. "You've met her too?"
"So, you've met her? Do you also think she looks a lot like Brooklyn?"
