Chapter 62 She Treated Them Differently
"Ahem! Alright, I'll shut up and eat. I'm starving! Having been hustling and bustling all morning, I'm totally wiped out." Quinn's words carried a hint, referring to the couple in front of him who had shut him out of the door for their morning sex.
Finally, the awkward breakfast ended. Brooklyn went to the kitchen to clean up, while Quinn rubbed his stomach. "Sebastian, if Brooklyn is so good, what's the deal with Megan? If you truly love Brooklyn, you shouldn't be entangled with Megan."
Sebastian flipped open the financial newspaper and focused on the stock market news without looking up. "Quinn, this is between her and me. You don't need to interfere."
"Sebastian, you know what I mean. Megan is getting close to you with ulterior motives. I hope you won't be swayed by her. Brooklyn is such a good woman. You shouldn't let her down."
"Quinn, don't make me remind you for the second time. This is none of youe business, no need for your involvement. Also, Dad wants you to learn management. Which department do you want to go to?"
Sebastian clearly didn't want to discuss this topic and casually changed the subject.
"I'm not sure about the company's departments. As for learning, it's just about securing an easy position to play around in the company. You arrange it for me, I trust you, Sebastian."
Sebastian glanced at his brother whom he hadn't seen in five years. "Quinn, you studied business management in Arcadia Valley for two years. Now you're telling me any position will do? Are you lying to me or to yourself?"
Quinn chuckled. "I've been too busy playing during my school years and I didn't study seriously."
Sebastian turned the newspaper over. "Since you haven't studied seriously, I'll find a school for you at home. Finish your university first. As for internships, we'll talk about it once your school arrangements are made."
Quinn frowned heavily, resisting unwillingly. "Do you want me to continue studying? I didn't go to a university in Lindwell because I really don't want to study."
"Either finish your university in Arcadia Valley or get a degree at home, your choice." Sebastian's tone left no room for argument, and naturally, Quinn dared not refute him.
"Fine, I'll continue studying at home."
Although he got scolded by Sebastian, Quinn wasn't upset for long and snapped out of it quickly. "Sebastian, Dad said you're a member of the sailing club, it's hard to get in. How about letting me use your membership? I want to have some fun."
Sebastian coldly glanced at him. "You've just been back and you are already thinking about having fun? No."
Alright, he was scolded again.
Brooklyn walked out of the kitchen, seeing them chatting, with a smile on her face. "Quinn, do you have nothing to do today?"
She was implying that after eating and drinking his fill, he could leave.
Quinn picked up a newspaper. "I'm going to study with Sebastian. Plus, it's raining heavily today, there's nothing fun outside. Brooklyn, are you trying to get rid of me?"
Brooklyn gritted her teeth. "Why would I?"
At that moment, Sebastian's monotonous phone ringtone sounded. Almost simultaneously, both Brooklyn and Quinn saw the name on the screen, and then they both remained silent in unison, listening to Sebastian answer his phone.
"I am busy."
"Today?"
Sebastian checked the time, but Brooklyn felt that his gaze slightly favored her.
"Alright."
After hanging up the phone, Sebastian closed the newspaper. "Quinn, go back for now, come another day."
"Sebastian." Quinn wanted to retorted.
"Go back."
"Alright."
After sending Quinn away, Brooklyn finally dropped the facade of a virtuous wife and mother she had just put on, smiling ambiguously. "Going to see Megan? Fine, I'm off to work."
Brooklyn's tone and attitude changed instantly. Was she really that impatient with him?
Sebastian tightly gripped his coat, his cold eyes fixed on her for a few seconds before putting it on. "Go to the hospital. She's having a prenatal check-up today."
"She?"
"So, let's go together."
Brooklyn pointed at herself. "Me?"
Sebastian said, "Do you have any problem?"
Of course, she dared not.
Brooklyn sat in the passenger seat as they drove straight to Turner family's mansion. Sebastian didn't plan to go in but called Megan to come out.
Megan wanted to open the door and sit in the passenger seat, but was surprised to find Brooklyn already there. Immediately, her expression changed. "Sebastian, what does this mean? Why is she here?"
"Brooklyn's a doctor and can take better care of you."
Brooklyn glanced indifferently at Megan's displeased face. "Ms. Turner, the procedures for the check-up are quite complex. You had better get in the car quickly to save time."
Brooklyn was once again giving her the cold shoulder!
Megan angrily opened the car door and got in. The seat that should have belonged to her was now taken by Brooklyn. She was burning with anger, wanting to vent!
"Brooklyn, my child and I don't need your care. Get out!" Megan's tone was strong, as if she were the hostess.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Turner. This was personally instructed by Jennifer. She specifically asked me to take care of you and your child. If you want to change, you might have to talk to her."
Sebastian frowned. "Auntie Jennifer said that?"
Brooklyn nodded subtly. "Yes, she called yesterday."
Was he pretending to be ignorant? His acting skills was not good.
Megan sat up straight, looking at Sebastian's back. "Sebastian, Auntie Jennifer has been so caring. She called me several times these days, inquiring about the baby's condition and even asked me to visit Kingsley Villa frequently."
Sebastian didn't respond to her. "Did you agree?"
This question was for Brooklyn to answer.
"Of course."
Could she refuse? She was clearly being bullied by Jennifer and Megan together, Sebastian should have been able to see that.
A smile occured on Megan's face. "Dr. Mitchell will have a hard time in the future. The safety of me and the baby is now in your hands."
Sebastian held the steering wheel firmly, turning the car towards the hospital. "Since it's in your hands now, take good care of them from now on."
Brooklyn clearly didn't expect that Sebastian would support their actions!
"Is that what you really want?"
With a bit of hope in her voice, trembling, she wished he would say something caring, even just a few simple words.
Sebastian stopped the car, got out, and first opened the door for Megan. She joyfully took his arm, casting a contemptuous smile at Brooklyn.
It took him a while before he spoke, "Yes, Dr. Mitchell, you like to save lives. How could I not give you this opportunity?"
