Chapter 314 Pleading Not Guilty

'Idiot! She's such an idiot! At a time like this, she's still worried about Sebastian!' Zach fumed inwardly.

"Do you even realize how much trouble you're in? One wrong word and you could end up in prison for intentional harm." Zach's anger made his voice go all stiff. He really wanted to shake some sense into her!

But Brooklyn just ignored him. "Sebastian's heart injury was really bad. I saw it myself. How is he now? Is he recovering? Is he out of danger?"

She was terrified he wouldn't make it.

Zach couldn't argue with her, so he just nodded, defeated. "He's fine now, recovering well. Don't worry."

Hearing that, she finally relaxed, like nothing else mattered anymore.

After asking about Sebastian, Brooklyn finally thought about herself and suddenly smiled. "Before dying, I even got to tour the prison. My life experience is richer now."

'This idiot!' Zach thought, almost wanting to chew her out. 'I'm freaking out, and she's reflecting on life.'

"Brooklyn, listen. You did not intentionally harm Megan. She fell by herself. If you don't plead guilty, no one can do anything to you."

"Zach..." Brooklyn was about to speak when she was interrupted.

"Don't say anything. Even if you only have one day left, don't spend it here. Use your last time to do something more meaningful. See more sights, meet the people you want to meet, not stay here! Understand?" Zach, usually so gentle and elegant, was now so intimidating that Brooklyn was stunned and just nodded.

"The lawyer will plead not guilty for you. I'll get you out as soon as possible. When you get out, I'll take you away, okay?" Zach said.

Brooklyn was about to give up, but Zach's persistence made her realize that if she kept being depressed, she wouldn't even be worthy of his concern.

So she nodded, "Okay."

"You are Brooklyn. No matter how you see yourself, I won't let anyone tarnish your name. Hold on, please," Zach said.

His words echoed in her ears like a long-lasting alarm, so in the following statements, Brooklyn did not admit to the crime.

"She actually didn't plead guilty? That bitch Brooklyn, even in the face of death, she's still stubborn!" Karen cursed.

"Karen, calm down. Whether she admits it or not doesn't matter. Even if the police find her not guilty, it doesn't matter. As long as the Kingsley family believes she's a murderer, she is a murderer." Piper said.

Karen nodded. "That's right. It's good if Brooklyn is convicted. Even if she's not, she can't stay in the Kingsley family!"

Megan looked around the ward, saying weakly, "Mom, you all go out for a bit. I have something to say to Piper."

Lawrence said, "Whatever you need, I'll handle it. Don't push yourself."

"How can I trouble you with everything?" Megan replied.

With just the two of them left in the ward, Piper said, "Brooklyn's already in jail. What more do you want? Just spill it."

Megan chuckled, her slender fingers tracing her lower abdomen. "I didn't expect this child to be so useful. I tried so hard to bring down Brooklyn but failed. Now that the child is gone, Brooklyn can't stay in the Kingsley family anymore."

Piper quickly covered Megan's mouth, whispering, "Are you nuts? What are you saying at a time like this? Remember, you were carrying Sebastian's child. This child could only be Sebastian's. Now that the child is gone, you have to be more heartbroken than anyone. You must be devastated. Got it?"

Pushing her hand away, Megan sneered. "Piper, why are you so nervous? There's no one else here. The Kingsley family is in chaos right now. How could they care about me? Now that the child is gone, I can finally relax. If they found out this child wasn't Sebastian's, the one going to prison today would probably be me."

Piper's eyes widened in alarm as she warned, "Stop talking! Someone might hear."

Megan spoke with a hint of impatience, "Okay, okay, I'll stop. I'll listen to you."

"Take good care of yourself now. When you marry Sebastian in the future, you can really have his child and secure your place as the hostess of the Kingsley family." Piper said with a bright smile.

Meanwhile, a swarm of reporters gathered outside the hospital. Their eyes gleamed with anticipation as they heard about Megan's miscarriage, crowding the hospital entrance and the underground parking lot. Whether they saw doctors, nurses, or bodyguards and servants of the Turner and Kingsley families, they almost wanted to pry their mouths open to get the scoop.

But the Turner and Kingsley families, with their high status, would never let such a scandal spread.

The bold reporters speculated wildly, "Rumor has it that Megan and Brooklyn had a dispute, and in a fit of rage, Brooklyn cruelly pushed Megan down the stairs, causing her to miscarry..."

"Megan and Brooklyn's conflict escalated, leading to Megan's miscarriage."

"Enraged and desperate, Brooklyn tried to kill Megan out of hatred."

Endless unpleasant words sparked a new wave of public opinion, and everyone in the hospital was caught in a heated argument. Brooklyn's supporters argued with reason, while Megan's fans boldly debated. Soon, the news spread throughout the inpatient department.
