Chapter 428 Those Years, All Things, All People

Sebastian's upper body sank, pressing down towards Brooklyn, but he was careful not to let any of his weight rest on her. Instead, he suspended himself above her, using his waist to support all his weight, his arms embracing the lying Brooklyn.

He held her shoulders tightly, gently pulling her into his embrace. His rare treasure had finally returned to his hands, completely and utterly back in his grasp.

The familiar scent of tequila from Sebastian's body wafted over, familiar yet with a new twist. Brooklyn was almost obsessed, greedily inhaling his scent.

How long had it been? A century? A lifetime? A cycle of reincarnation?

It had been so long that she didn't know how to make up for it. All she could do was use her arms to hold him tightly, using all her body heat to holdthe love that had been blank for more than two years.

She breathed heavily, her breath suppressed by tears, lying in his arms. Brooklyn's eyes were full of tears, finally unable to hold back, all dripping onto his clothes.

"Sebastian, I missed you so much," she said in a low voice, leaning into his chest, her voice soft and weak, yet it trembled every nerve in his body.

Because he felt the same.

He held her tightly, not letting go for a moment, his voice washed with joy, falling like mist into her heart, so gentle. " Brooklyn. I missed you like crazy."

She believed that in these two years, Sebastian must have gone through a lot. How did he get by when she wasn't there?

Actually, she didn't need to ask much; she could know everything.

Sebastian's heartache was caused by excessive longing, whether medically or psychologically. To torment oneself like this, he must have gone through a period of heart-wrenching, unforgettable pain.

She finally returned to his arms as Brooklyn, with Brooklyn's memories, knowing all his joys and sorrows, understanding all his past.

This was wonderful!

"Sebastian, hold me tight," she curled herself into his arms, took off the oxygen mask, and buried her face in his chest, feeling his heartbeat with her cheek.

Sebastian didn't dare to use too much force, controlling his strength, tightening his hold slightly, placing Brooklyn in the warmest and most comfortable position, stroking her shoulder, and whispering, "Brooklyn, I love you."

Brooklyn smiled slightly, closed her eyes contentedly, listening to his breathing and heartbeat, hearing his sweet words, "I love you too, very much."

She had loved him all these years, never changing.

Embracing each other, Sebastian and Brooklyn resembled seagulls that had flown thousands of miles alone in the desolate sky, circling in the wrong seas. Finally, exhausted, they reunited with their true love, and in each other's eyes, they found the strength to soar once more.

The seagulls told themselves they had never given up flying and were finally rewarded.

They spread their wings, warmed each other, and rested, commemorating all the past with their weathered bodies.

The two seagulls promised each other never to part.

For a long time, neither was willing to let go, wanting to make up for all the missed regrets, wanting to hold the other in their palm, embedding them into the veins of their life.

Brooklyn's tears soaked a large part of his clothes, finally moving slightly away from his embrace because she had to be gentle and careful due to her concussion.

Sniffling, Brooklyn looked up at his face, her fingers slowly caressing his skin. "When I fell off the cliff, I kept thinking, is this how we part in this life? Will we never see each other again? The more I thought about it, the more I was afraid of dying. Do you know? Since my parents passed away, I had never been afraid of death."

Her gentle fingers traced his handsome face, just as she remembered, his eyebrows, deep eyes, nose, and thin lips. She searched her memory with her fingertips.

"But that time, I was very afraid, very afraid of death, because death meant I would never see you again. I couldn't bear to leave you." she continued.

Sebastian's warm, deep eyes looked at her, a finger pressed against her lips, unwilling to hear more, unwilling to let her recall.

Brooklyn smiled silently, and she stopped talking.

"By the way, did you find out? The person who pushed me off the cliff that day." Brooklyn asked.

"I found out. It was Jenny, but she's already dead."

Brooklyn frowned, "When did you find out?"

"Yesterday, confirmed."

Yesterday?

Brooklyn saw the sunlight out of the corner of her eye, realizing that so much time had passed.

"You stayed with me all night?" She was wondering how he got through last night.

It was already night when the incident happened; he must have stayed up all night, right?

Sebastian didn't answer, holding her hand, sitting back on the edge of the bed. "I'm willing to."

Brooklyn's lips curved up, recalling everything in her mind, wanting to cry and laugh. "By the way, you actually shut down Aucester Hospital? Quite a move."

Sebastian admitted without guilt, but with a sense of righteousness, "Not only did I want to shut it down, but I also wanted to tear down all those buildings and rebuild them."

So domineering! Her husband.

After she finished speaking, it was his turn to speak.

Sebastian stood up solemnly, looking down at Brooklyn, lowering his head like a student admitting a mistake. "Brooklyn, there are some things I need to apologize for now, and some things I need to tell you."

He suddenly became so serious that Brooklyn couldn't help but laugh. "What are you up to now?"

Sebastian stopped her from speaking, his deep voice saying word by word, "After we got married, I was cold to you and even got together with Megan because I saw photos of you with another man in a hotel."

Brooklyn's eyes narrowed sharply!

She didn't remember it at all!

"I didn't know at all."

"You were drugged and unconscious, of course, you didn't know. But now, I know the truth. Brooklyn, I apologize for the harm I caused you in the past." Sebastian sighed.

Brooklyn grabbed the bed sheet, never expecting that the root of everything was because of this.

"Who did it?"

"Your sister, Susie," Sebastian answered lightly because he felt that Brooklyn didn't need to get involved in this matter. He would handle it for her.

Brooklyn suddenly smiled, a bit cold and helpless. "I should have known. Susie has feelings for you. She and Seraphina want to climb up to the Kingsley family, and naturally, I'm a thorn in their side."

Sebastian said, "I'll take care of them for you. They won't appear in front of you again."

Brooklyn quickly interjected, "No, they framed me and made me suffer unjustly for years. I want to settle this score myself."

Reflecting on everything, Brooklyn felt deep regret. She had been too soft-hearted towards Susie and Seraphina, allowing them to escape time and time again!

From now on, she wouldn't!

"Oh? You want to handle it yourself? Susie is now married to Marc, who has considerable influence in Aqua Vista City, both legally and in the underworld. How do you plan to do it?"

Brooklyn confirmed with a nod, "I know, but ultimately, this is a Mitchell family matter, so I should handle it. Since Susie married this Marc you mentioned, the Mitchell Group must have changed hands, right?"

Before Sebastian could answer, Brooklyn suddenly smiled. "Right, I almost forgot. Before my accident, the largest shareholder of the Mitchell Group had already changed. The Mitchell Group..."

She recited the name of her family’s company and then looked at Sebastian. "I want to take back the Mitchell Group. I didn't want to get involved in business management back then, so I gave the company to them. But now, I've changed my mind. This is my parents' legacy, and I want it back!"

Sebastian sat back down, looking at the Brooklyn in front of him, who was different in both appearance and demeanor. He smiled, "Brooklyn, you really have changed."

She playfully teased, "Of course, didn't you say? The plastic surgery was a success. I've become more beautiful, right?"

Her narcissism left him speechless.

He tried to hold back his laughter but couldn't. "Yes."

She added, "Well, you know the saying, the more beautiful a woman is, the more ruthless she can be."

"Do whatever you want, take back the Mitchell Group, settle old scores. No matter how much trouble you cause, I'll clean up after you. Don't hold back. Whether it's Susie or Marc, retaliate however you want."

Brooklyn smiled, a pure camellia blooming in her eyes. "Then I'll borrow your power."

"Alright."

Brooklyn tried to tilt her head, but Sebastian gently corrected her. "You've been diagnosed with a concussion, so it's best to lie still and not move."

Brooklyn frowned, "You're really a trouble magnet. Anyone associated with you is unlucky."

"Then, Mrs. Kingsley, are you afraid?" His lips formed a line, looking at her with a half-smile.

"Funny, I'm invincible, not afraid of these bad people."

They exchanged a smile, no more words needed.

Brooklyn suddenly looked at Sebastian like she was interrogating a suspect. "Mr. Kingsley, I want to ask, how did you end up messing around with my old friend Megan?"

Sebastian's face turned ashen. "We were just using each other."

"No feelings involved?"

"None."

"No sexual relationship?"

Sebastian was speechless.

Brooklyn pouted, "Without a sexual relationship, how could Megan have a child?"

Sebastian's face darkened. "I'll get to the bottom of this too. That child is probably not mine."

"Oh?" Should she believe him?

Sebastian was exasperated. "I spent a lot of time with Megan, but not in the way you think. I never initiated anything with her."

Brooklyn suddenly frowned, "Not even once?"

Sebastian nodded firmly, "No, every time I was drunk, I don't remember the process at all. Whether it really happened, I don't remember."

"Stop, I don't want to hear the details," she said.

Sebastian sighed guiltily, "I'm sorry."

"It's in the past. I'll forget it."

Sebastian and Brooklyn talked a lot in the hospital room, about the past, the present, and the future.

But in the end, the conversation returned to the attempted murder.

They spoke simultaneously, "I think Jenny..."

They both stopped talking at the same time. Brooklyn said, "You go first."

"I don't believe Jenny is the real culprit; she must have been acting under someone else's orders" Sebastian's expression gradually turned cold, the warmth in his eyes replaced by a chill.

Brooklyn smiled slightly, though she didn't say it outright, she knew it was almost certain. "Well, I think so too. And I believe we're thinking of the same person."

"Oh? So you know too?" Sebastian looked at her indulgently, wondering how much she knew.

"I'm the victim, and having survived, I'm allowed some insights, right? I've been foolish for years; it's time to be smart." She mocked herself.

"So, Mrs. Kingsley, how do you plan to deal with the person who hurt you? You've taken on Susie and the Mitchell Group. How about letting me handle this?"

Unexpectedly, Brooklyn refused again. "No, I'll handle this person."

Sebastian was displeased. "Brooklyn, I'm your husband, not just for show."

Brooklyn pinched his drooping lips, pulling them up. "Because you have more important things to do. Don't forget, I'm not just Brooklyn; I'm also Scarlett, and I broke off someone else's engagement. Do you think Kevin will let it go easily? I've thought about it. Women should handle women's matters, and men should handle men's matters."

Sebastian's dark smile showed he understood. He suddenly thought Brooklyn could be quite cunning.

"Alright."

She spoke, "I'll leave Kevin to you, and the Taylor Group too. Leon and Diana from the Taylor family have been very good to me. I don't want them to be threatened."

"Alright."
