Chapter 566 I'll Wait for You to Return Victorious
Sebastian wrapped his arm around Brooklyn's waist as they walked down the long hallway toward the elevator.
The doctors and nurses in the cardiology department couldn't help but stare in envy when they saw Sebastian personally picking up Brooklyn from work.
It wasn't just that he was picking her up, nor how gentle he was.
It was the fact that it was Sebastian! Someone they only ever saw on TV, now standing right in front of them.
Brooklyn tilted her head and smiled at Sebastian. "Babe, you're so charming. My colleagues are all going to be smitten by you."
Sebastian kept his eyes straight ahead, his arm securely around Brooklyn, his elegant figure walking with steady steps. "Really? I didn't notice."
Brooklyn looked up at his handsome profile, illuminated by the light. "Didn't notice? They're all around you, like wolves."
Sebastian's deep gaze softened as he looked at Brooklyn. "I only see you."
It didn't matter where others were or how they looked at him. All that mattered was seeing his love.
Brooklyn felt a warm rush in her heart from his words and snuggled closer into his embrace.
As they stepped out of the hospital, Sebastian opened an umbrella, shielding Brooklyn completely from the rain, not letting a single drop touch her.
Brooklyn adjusted the umbrella, pushing it toward him. "I'm not getting wet, but your clothes are soaked."
Sebastian kept the umbrella firmly over Brooklyn's head. "I'm a man. Men are supposed to weather the storm."
Brooklyn placed her hand on his, feeling a pang of affection. "Babe, don't be so good to me. I'll get addicted, and then I won't be able to quit."
The car was just a short distance away. Sebastian escorted Brooklyn to the passenger seat, holding the car door open for her. "Do you like the feeling of being addicted?"
Brooklyn nodded, her eyes shining with enjoyment. "I do."
Sebastian, still holding the umbrella, gently pinched her cheek with his free hand. "Then don't worry about addiction. Just enjoy it."
Brooklyn sat in the passenger seat, watching Sebastian's graceful movements as he got in. "Even if you did nothing, just looking at you is a pleasure."
Sebastian started the car, the engine roaring powerfully, the wipers clearing the rain from the windshield.
"What if one day I'm just a useless shell? Would you still like me then?" He joked, his smile warm, like a patch of clear sky inside the car.
"Why would that matter? Honey, you can stay home and be admired by me alone. I'll go out and earn the money, and that way, no other women will covet you."
Sebastian took her hand, placing it securely on his leg, feeling the wedding ring on her finger.
"Deal! You'll earn the money, and I'll cook for you every day, making sure you're well taken care of."
"Ha! No way! I don't want to become a fatty!"
"What's wrong with that? When you were thin, you moved into my heart. If you get fat, you'll never leave."
"Where did you learn that? From a book?"
"Does it matter? I created it by myself."
"Sebastian, you're as domineering as ever. I don't think our house can contain you."
The rain gradually lessened, the thunder and lightning subsiding. The streetlights illuminated the road ahead, making the path clearer and brighter.
The puddles on the ground reflected the streetlights, sparkling with a silvery glow, looking quite pleasing.
Brooklyn suddenly exclaimed, "Babe, the rain stopped!"
After a whole day of rain, it finally stopped, almost instantly, as if the night sky had cleared up in the blink of an eye.
Sebastian looked out the window, his heavy thoughts lifting as he gazed at the clear night sky. "Yes, the rain stopped, the sky cleared, all thanks to you."
Brooklyn didn't dare take credit. "I can't change the weather."
"You can."
'You can't change the weather outside, but you can change the weather in my heart. Your presence, your every move, your smile, your voice, your scent... they make my world sunny.' Sebastian thought happily.
The rainy night passed, and the sky cleared. The weather in Aucester was exceptionally good after the rain. A ray of sunlight streamed in through the window, warm and inviting, while a gentle breeze stirred the green trees and red flowers outside. It was a beautiful morning.
Brooklyn woke up to find that Sebastian had gone out for his morning run again. She had missed her workout time, so she decided to head to the kitchen.
It had been a while since she had cooked for him. Today, Brooklyn wanted to make him breakfast herself.
The emotions he stirred in her last night deserved some form of reciprocation, even though the concept of reciprocation didn't really exist between husband and wife.
Sebastian finished his run, stretching his arms, and connected a call through his Bluetooth headset.
Brandon, still groggy from sleep, answered. "Mr. Kingsley, calling me this early? You better not be assigning me a task. I just got up."
Sebastian's deep blue eyes looked at the tulips battered by the storm, his gaze darkening. "How did the meeting with the Turner Group partners go yesterday? How many did you secure?"
Brandon yawned, taking a sip of water. "The rain yesterday delayed things, but three of them expressed a loss of confidence in the Turner Group and are planning to withdraw their investments. However, they don't intend to invest in the Mitchell Group either. They seem quite interested in working with James. He's been doing well lately."
Sebastian narrowed his eyes. "Good. Today, you and Bianca need to secure the other connections. I want to take down the Turner Group this week."
Brandon spat out his water. "What? This week? Mr. Kingsley, are you kidding? We're just starting to get their partners to cut ties with them. That doesn't mean the Turner Group will collapse in a few days. Mr. Kingsley, the Turner Group isn't a small company. Take it easy."
"I know, which is why we need to speed up. Don't ask why. I want the Turner Group to change hands immediately."
Brandon wiped his mouth, speechless. "Alright, Bianca and I will do our best. But Mr. Kingsley, my luck is terrible. I don't even want to manage my own company, and now I'm working hard to take down your rivals. Just my luck."
Sebastian smiled, offering Brandon a substantial promise. "Once it's done, I'll give you three percent of the Turner Group's shares. You can do whatever you want with them."
Brandon spat out his second sip of water. "Damn it! Shares? You're giving me shares of the Turner Group? Do you know what three percent of their current stock price means? You're giving me..."
"As long as you know." Sebastian ended the call and immediately dialed the head of MBK's branch in Averlake. "I need you to do something for me. Listen carefully..."
After giving his instructions, Sebastian hung up.
With the calls done, Sebastian finished his post-run stretches and walked back to the villa with confident, composed steps.
As he entered, a delightful aroma greeted him. He looked up to see Brooklyn carrying a plate of steaming vegetables, the fragrance making his mouth water.
"All done? Wash up and get ready to eat."
Sebastian changed into slippers, frowning slightly. "We have staff for this. Why are you cooking?"
"Can the staff's food taste like this?"
Sebastian didn't rush to wash up. Instead, he followed Brooklyn to the dining room, watching her set the plate down. His tall figure leaned in, his voice low and teasing in her ear. "What taste? The taste of you?"
The scent of tequila mixed with sweat filled the air. Brooklyn turned, her lips brushing against Sebastian's. The warm touch spread through her body, making her fingers tremble.
"Don't tempt me so early in the morning."
"What? Talking sweetly with my wife is a crime?"
Brooklyn turned, only to be pressed between his chest and the table. The intoxicating scent and soft light created a beautiful breakfast moment.
"Eat."
"What?" He didn't move, staring at her tempting lips.
"I said, it's time to eat."
"Did you taste the food? Is it seasoned right?" Sebastian leaned in closer, almost on top of Brooklyn.
Brooklyn swallowed instinctively. Sebastian was too... overwhelming!
"I tasted it. It's just right..."
As she explained, her lips suddenly felt warm. He kissed her deeply.
After a while.
"The taste is indeed good. Only your cooking has this flavor."
Brooklyn's clear eyes looked into his. "Hey, you're teasing me."
Sebastian released her, his voice serious. "I have a tough battle ahead. You are my support. I need strength from you."
"What battle?"
It sounded strange.
"A man's duel."
Brooklyn crossed her arms, smiling brightly. "I can be your support, honey. Just make sure to win."
"Of course. I will."
