Chapter 229 The Scalding Pain
Sebastian finally pulled away, smirking. "You want more, just like me. But you're right; we should wait until my wound heals."
He laughed, "No rush, we have plenty of time after I recover. I'll take care of my injury."
Brooklyn bit her lip, trying to stand up. "Don't drive for now, let Owen pick you up. Also, no drinking or getting the wound wet."
He grabbed her hand, grinning. "I can skip driving, but no water? How am I supposed to shower? Will you help me?"
She blushed and retorted, "Fine, no showering then. Wouldn't want to wash off all the other women's perfumes now, would you?"
She was clearly jealous, but Sebastian didn't explain. Instead, he put his arm around her and pointed outside. "See the camellia I planted for you?"
She looked at him, surprised. "You planted it?"
He nodded. "There used to be one here, but it disappeared. I got a new one. First time planting a tree, hoping it grows well."
'Sebastian, planting a tree?'
She felt even more conflicted.
"Thanks, but let others handle this stuff. You're Mr. Kingsley; you shouldn't be doing manual labor."
He held her close, admiring the tree. "For you, I'm willing to try new things. Let's try out a lot of things together, Brooklyn. Let's make the most of our lives."
She stiffened, feeling torn apart inside. 'How can I face the future?'
"Sebastian, your changes are too sudden. I need time." She said and pulled away, ignoring his affection as she retrieved his blood-stained clothes.
"Just throw them away," he said.
He was a clean freak; he'd never wear dirty clothes again.
"Okay."
She took the clothes and threw them in the trash.
However, she had no idea this would cause big trouble.
The next day, Sebastian went to work, and she stayed home. While reading in the living room, the doorbell rang.
She was about to answer when Megan rushed over. "Jennifer, you're here."
'Jennifer?!'
She quickly put down her book and greeted her. "Jennifer."
Jennifer lazily glanced at her, taking the coffee Susan gave as she sat down like she owned the place. She pulled Megan beside her, "Megan, sit next to me."
Megan joyfully sat down, looking at Brooklyn disdainfully.
Brooklyn stood there, puzzled.
Jennifer spoke up, "Why are you still here? I've given you a deadline, Brooklyn. Don't push your luck."
She nodded, "I understand."
"If you understand, then get out! Don't let me see you around the Kingsleys again! Do you think the scandal isn't bad enough? Three years ago, you broke Sebastian and Megan up, and now your scandal is out! You have no shame."
Brooklyn clenched her fists, "I will divorce him, don't worry."
Suddenly, Jennifer poured the untouched coffee all over her face.
The hot coffee stung, shattering her heart.
"I'm not reassured! How much more does Sebastian have to endure for you? Your worthless life may not matter, but his status is too important for you to risk."
She was stunned.
‘How did Jennifer get Sebastian's blood-stained clothes?’
Seeing Megan, she understood. It was a coordinated attack; a deep betrayal.
"I won't let Sebastian get involved with you anymore, Brooklyn. I'm kicking you out of the family! I'm not waiting any longer. Otherwise, I'll make sure you never see him again."
Megan touched Jennifer's arm, "Jennifer, calm down. Brooklyn said they'd divorce, so don't worry."
Brooklyn let the coffee drip down her face, her voice steady. "It's not that I won't, but Sebastian is refusing to sign. As soon as he does, I'll leave the Kingsley family immediately."
With her last shred of dignity, she couldn't hold on any longer.
Jennifer was clearly dissatisfied. "I gave you time, so make sure he signs. If you're still here in three days, you'll hear about the Mitchell family's bankruptcy and my fallout with Sebastian. I mean it."
Megan smirked at Brooklyn, "What are you standing there for? Not leaving?"
Brooklyn wiped the coffee off her face, unfazed. "Of course, I'll leave. But I still have two days left before your deadline. During these two days, please don't interfere with what I do. When the time comes, I'll leave on my own."
