Chapter 433 Brooklyn, You've Turned Bad

MBK Group,

In the president's office, Dario handed over the latest data sheet on multiple stock changes. "Mr. Kingsley, here is everything you asked for. Kevin suddenly withdrew all his investments from The Taylor Group and terminated the new project collaboration with them."

Sebastian opened the file and quickly skimmed through it, fully understanding the situation. "Got it. How much did Kevin withdraw?"

"One billion dollars in funds, and the new project was originally planned to receive about 1.6 billion dollars in investment."

Sebastian nodded. A total of 2.6 billion dollars was indeed enough to cause The Taylor Group significant trouble. No wonder their stock hit the limit down as soon as the market opened today.

Kevin was ruthless.

Sebastian instructed, "Immediately invest 2 billion dollars into The Taylor Group. As for their new project, inform the general manager of the Emporcia branch to go see Leon right now and tell him that MBK Group is willing to offer a 10% discount to help him complete the new project."

Dario nodded. "Yes, sir! But how do we explain a 10% discount to the board? This is a major project with a total investment of over 2 billion dollars. The Taylor Group only does one such project a year. Mr. Kingsley, should we..."

"Dario, do I need to explain my actions to anyone? Do as I say, now. Also, inform the Emporcia branch that from now on, they should take on any project The Taylor Group has."

Dario hesitated a bit, feeling a bit troubled. "Mr. Kingsley, The Taylor Group's main industries are publishing and media. Our group has never ventured into these areas. Wouldn't it be too..."

Sebastian looked at Dario with impenetrable dark eyes. Though his intentions remained unclear, the lethal authority behind his decision left no room for defiance.

"We haven't before, but once we partner with The Taylor Group, we will." he said.

Dario choked on his drink, marveling inwardly. "Mr. Kingsley," he thought, "you'd really shatter every precedent for Brooklyn, wouldn't you?"

"Yes, Mr. Kingsley, I'll get right on it."

Dario left the office, and Sebastian picked up his phone, dialing a number with practiced ease.

The phone rang for a while. Brandon, feeling groggy, reached out but couldn't find it. "Damn, can't I get some sleep in the morning?"

Half-asleep, he answered the call, his morning grumpiness evident. "Speak! Don't waste my sleep time!"

Sebastian frowned, rubbing his forehead. "Brandon, why are you so grumpy this early in the morning?"

Brandon jolted awake. "Damn! It's you? Why are you calling me so early? Damn, did something happen with your wife again? You and Brooklyn, please stop bothering me!"

Sebastian's lips curved into a sexy smile. "You're overthinking it. We're fine. In a few days, Marc and Susie will be coming to Aucester. Brooklyn would confront Susie personally, but as her husband, I feel it's inappropriate not to do something."

Brandon scratched his messy hair, hugging his blanket with a twisted expression. "Mr. Kingsley, you're showing off your marital bliss so early in the morning. That's not fair!"

"You've been in Libertya without a proper job. I'll give you something to do. Help me find out what's available at this auction. Anything under 2 million dollars doesn't need to be reported." Sebastian said.

Brandon silently mouthed, "Damn, not only showing off your marital bliss but also flaunting your wealth. You're shameless!"

"Have you cursed enough? If so, get up and get to work. I need full undisclosed inventory details and datasets prior to the auction. Public listings are irrelevant to your task, you just secure what hasn't been officially released."

Brandon, frustrated, kicked and punched the air, roaring, "I should never have come back!"

Sebastian frowned and hung up the phone. Brandon's temper was growing; it seemed he needed someone to help curb it.

"Scarlett, good morning!"

"Dr. Taylor, good morning!"

Brooklyn returned to work at the hospital. As she entered, the passing doctors and nurses greeted her warmly and politely, making way for her.

When did she become so popular?

Zach and a few doctors happened to come out of a ward and saw Brooklyn in the lobby. Their eyes met briefly before they went in opposite directions.

A doctor following Zach whispered, "Dr. Carter, are Dr. Taylor and Sebastian really together?"

Zach nodded. "Yes, they are married."

"No way! They actually got married? That's so sudden! Wasn't Scarlett's fiancé in Averlake?"

Zach handed him the medical records. "It's best not to talk about Dr. Taylor's personal matters. Take this to the fourth floor; the patient needs to continue the infusion."

The doctor nodded. "Got it."

In Brooklyn's office, Lisa hugged her tightly for a long time before letting go. "Scarlett, don't push yourself so hard. Is your head okay? Why are you in such a hurry to come back to work? You should rest at home for half a month and maybe go on a trip."

Brooklyn shrugged. "I'm fine now, and I'm not doing any surgeries for the time being. Do we have any new patients? Give me their files."

Lisa flipped through a stack of files and pulled out a folder. "We have three new patients, all with similar conditions, and their situations are not optimistic."

Brooklyn flipped through the file and nodded. "Indeed, why were they brought in so late? They've already missed the optimal time for surgery. Come with me to check on the patients."

Lisa was silent for a moment, then looked at Brooklyn apologetically. She hesitated for a long time, not saying anything or making any further moves.

"What's wrong?" Brooklyn was puzzled.

Lisa had always been straightforward. What was going on today?

"Scarlett, Cory and I have decided to move back to Averlake after we get married. We probably won't be able to stay until this project is finished. I'm sorry, Scarlett. I won't be able to be your assistant anymore. I really apologize." Lisa lowered her head. She had thought about this for a long time, but delaying it any further wouldn't be good for Scarlett either.

It was better to tell Scarlett this news sooner so she could find a new assistant.

The news came somewhat suddenly, but Scarlett understood. She patted Lisa's arm and smiled, shaking her head. "No need to apologize to me. It's your right. I can't keep you in Libertya forever. I'm really happy for you two. Moving back to Averlake to be with your aging parents is great. I support you."

Lisa didn't expect her to agree so readily. Her expression quickly changed from heavy to lighthearted. "Thank you, Scarlett! I love you!

"Alright, if you keep saying you love me, I might not want to let you go." Brooklyn teased.

Lisa and Cory leaving Libertya meant Brooklyn had to find a new assistant. Competent assistants were hard to find, especially young ones with as much experience and skill as those two.

Brooklyn was indeed a bit stressed.

After checking on the patients, Brooklyn went to the café downstairs for a coffee and saw Piper on the way.

Brooklyn and Piper approached from different directions, their steps almost in sync, and soon met outside the café.

Brooklyn raised her eyebrows slightly. "Dr. Rivera, what a coincidence. Are you here for coffee too?"

Piper's lips curled into a cold smile. "Quite a coincidence indeed, running into you here."

Facing Piper's cold smile, Brooklyn's smile didn't waver; it deepened. "Dr. Rivera, you're a renowned young director at Aucester Hospital. It's an honor to have coffee with you. What would you like to drink? It's on me."

Piper tilted her head back in a cold laugh, then leveled it. "How could I dare let Mrs. Kingsley buy me coffee?"

Brooklyn sneered, "Oh? Are you afraid I'll poison it? Don't worry, I wouldn't stoop to such means, and I don't think you would either. After all, for you, Dr. Rivera, pushing someone off a cliff is more satisfying, right?"

Her elegant smile and clear eyes made her features even more enchanting, brightening the whole scene.

The male doctors nearby, sipping their coffee, greeted Brooklyn warmly and enthusiastically, but when they turned to Piper, their politeness lacked the same warmth.

Piper's fingers curled, and she snorted lightly. "I don't understand what you're talking about."

With that, Piper bought a random cup of coffee and walked out of the café.

Brooklyn watched her leave, smiling slightly, she thought, 'Piper, you're arrogant and aloof, but don't forget, if you misplace that arrogance and aloofness, it will all come back to bite you. Days like today, filled with frustration, are far from over for you.'

"Dr. Taylor, what kind of coffee would you like? It's on me!" A male doctor approached her.

Brooklyn smiled. "No need. What are you all drinking? It's on me. Everyone's been working hard and deserves a reward."

"Wow! Dr. Taylor, you're awesome! We won't be shy then!" the male doctor exclaimed.

As she walked out with her coffee, her phone rang.

The screen flashed with a note she couldn't remember writing, boldly displaying "Psychopath," representing the ever-scheming Sebastian.

She answered the call, and before she could speak, Sebastian started, "Are you busy?"

Brooklyn took a sip of her coffee, the bitterness of the coffee slowly turning sweet. "Just finished, having a coffee, no sugar. Want a cup?"

Sebastian stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looked at the coffee he had just been served, sniffed it, and took a sip. "No sugar. Cheers."

Brooklyn smiled silently. What a coincidence. "Alright, cheers."

After a silent toast, Sebastian got to the point. "The day after tomorrow, Susie and Marc will be in Aucester. Your stepmother will probably come too. Have you thought about what to do?"

"Do you think I need to prepare anything to deal with Susie?" Brooklyn smiled, raising her eyebrows, her confidence and boldness dazzling.

Sebastian laughed along. "Seems like you enjoy improvising."

"Of course, improvising is more fun. But I haven't seen them in a while. I wonder if my appearance will scare them to death. If I scare them to death all at once, it won't be fun."

Sebastian's hearty, sexy laugh came through. "Brooklyn, you're getting more and more wicked."

"Thank you, Mr. Kingsley, for the compliment. I'll keep it up." Brooklyn took another sip of her coffee, savoring its rich flavor.

Sebastian said, "Don't work too hard. I'll pick you up after work."

Brooklyn declined directly. "No need, I drove myself."

She quickly added with a smile, "Mr. Kingsley, you're so busy. How could I bear to make you work harder? Besides, you should get off work early and go home. Don't you have to cook? I want pasta tonight. Will you make it?"

"Alright! I will be waiting for you at home."
