Chapter 230 Watching a Movie, Going to the Couple's Theater.

Suddenly, Brooklyn didn't want to let go. The pain from the past three years continued to accumulate. Despite being exhausted, it still hurt terribly every time she glanced back.

But now, each of Sebastian's words was like a lifeline, pulling her out of the darkness. She slowly climbed out of her misery, breaking free from the pain bit by bit.

With only two days left, where should she go from here?

"Dr. Mitchell? The patient was calling for you just now."

The assistant's voice brought Brooklyn back to reality during her rounds. She quickly composed herself and asked, "What did you say?"

After addressing the patient's concerns, she left the ward. In the corridor, Piper was leading a group of doctors. Brooklyn tried to avoid her, but Piper blocked her path.

"Dr. Mitchell, aren't you taking today off? Why are you pushing yourself so hard, even after marrying Mr. Kingsley? Who are you trying to impress?"

Brooklyn casually replied, "Dr. Rivera, you're missing the point."

As she tried to walk away, Piper sneered, "I'm not trying to engage with you. Just reminding you that the hospital's medical check-up results are out. Make sure to schedule a time within the next two days."

She frowned and replied, "Thanks." Then, she walked back to her office.

Sienna and Ellie were gossiping about the check-up. "It's a yearly thing, like they're scared we'll catch something from the patients."

"It's for our own good. Early detection means early treatment. Some tests can be awkward, though."

"Yeah, especially the gynecological exams. But I'm unmarried, so I skip some of those."

"Oh, please! Even unmarried people can get sick."

Seeing Brooklyn enter, Sienna chuckled, "Dr. Mitchell, let's go for the check-up together."

Brooklyn nodded, "Okay."

Ellie whispered to Sienna, "Dr. Mitchell doesn't look well today. Those news stories are really gross."

"Let's not talk about it."

Busy at the hospital until the afternoon, Brooklyn went to the emergency room once and bumped into Susie on her way upstairs.

"Susie? What are you doing here?"

Seeing her, Susie quickly stuffed a health report into her bag and sneered, "Mrs. Kingsley, I haven't congratulated you yet. Your new status is really something. The company's thriving now because of you, so you better cling on to that title!"

Brooklyn frowned. No wonder Susie hadn't been causing trouble lately. With her identity out in the open, the Mitchells could leverage her name for more business deals.

For the Mitchells, this was a win.

Who would've thought they'd rely on marrying off their daughters?

"Susie, as the general manager, focus on running the company. If the Mitchell family goes under, you'll be the one crying."

Susie retorted, "Whatever! With your status, we will thrive. So, Brooklyn, why don't you just get pregnant and secure some favor?"

With that, she grabbed her bag and left in a huff.

Brooklyn furrowed her brow, realizing the Mitchell family wasn't really hers anymore. Their ties were unraveling, making her wonder if she still owed them anything.

'Could I be selfish just this once and stay with Sebastian? Could I risk it all?'

As she pondered, her phone rang.

Sebastian's number popped up. It was 5 p.m.

Just as MBK Group finished work, he called her.

"Hello," she answered, pressing the elevator button.

In his office, he adjusted his coat. "Where are you?"

The elevator doors opened, and she stepped in. "I'm at the hospital."

"You're supposed to be off today. Why are you working?" he asked, concerned.

"Nothing to do at home, and there were some things at the hospital," she replied, watching the elevator numbers. When it reached 4, she arrived at the cardiology department.

As she stepped out, she saw Zach waiting for her.

"Alright. Drive to the Global Mall after work. Let's watch a movie," Sebastian said softly, seemingly instructing his driver.

Brooklyn was surprised, her mouth slightly agape. 'A movie? That's unexpected.'
