Chapter 96 It's Best for Us to Keep Our Distance
Brooklyn stood up, "It seems like you have nothing else to do. I'm going upstairs to rest."
As she passed by him, Sebastian, in a fit of anger, grabbed her hand! His palm was sticky, his deep eyes half-closed. He forcibly pried open her fingers and saw the blurry white palm with blood, "What's going on? What did you do this time?"
She tried to pull back but failed, "I didn't do anything. Even if I did, you don't need to know. We are just putting on a show, don't act too real. If you get too involved, I'm afraid you won't be able to get out."
"You're asking for trouble!" Sebastian roared.
She smiled, "I forgot, Mr. Kingsley is busy now, so it's best for us to keep our distance."
She had decided that she would never show her weakness in front of him!
Brooklyn forcefully took back her hand and turned to go upstairs.
He watched her go upstairs in a rage, his face showing a deep anger. She had a wound on her hand. Something must have happened just now.
He grabbed the red bag and threw it into the trash can.
The next day, Brooklyn went to work as usual. As she passed by the living room and saw the trash can, her heart clenched. It seemed like she had no reason to stay any longer.
With this in mind, she went back to the bedroom, packed all her personal belongings into a bag, drove her silver car, and left the villa. This place was never meant for her, and there was no point in forcing herself to stay.
The next day, when she returned to the hospital, from the moment she entered the main gate, people around her kept pointing and whispering, gossiping and condemning, adding fuel to the fire with their insults. She was still the center of attention at the hospital.
Passing by the front desk in the lobby, a few nurses saw her and whispered in low voices.
"She actually has the courage to come back? Doing such shameful things without feeling embarrassed?"
"Exactly, luckily Megan didn't stoop to her level, took responsibility on her own, otherwise she would have been torn apart by the reporters' microphones long ago."
"That woman, still delusional about getting involved with the Kingsley family, it's really laughable!"
Brooklyn clenched her fingers in her pocket. There were several people lining up at the elevator. When she appeared, they automatically made their way as if they had encountered a plague.
Brooklyn stood alone in the middle, expressionless, staring straight ahead, intimidating those around her so they dared not gossip.
After getting off the elevator, she went to the locker room without hesitation, changed into a white coat, and Sienna grabbed her wrist, "Dr. Mitchell, are you okay?"
She smiled, "I'm fine."
"Okay, I know you're strong inside. Once the storm passes, everything will be fine. Let them gossip, don't worry about it."
Brooklyn fixed her pen, adjusted her collar, and smiled casually, "I won't worry about it. Did you help me with the rounds yesterday? I'll treat you to dinner later."
Sienna's mouth twitched, "You're so strong, and everything's fine? I'll give you the report of the round. Luckily, the patients didn't have any issues."
Strong? What choice did she have if she wasn't strong?
In the ward.
"Blood pressure is stable. Stick out your tongue. Let me see. Good, you're recovering well. You can be discharged in a couple of days."
After finishing the examination for the patient, Brooklyn was pointed at by a young woman who had just arrived in the ward, "Aren't you that doctor! Who tampered with the medication for the celebrity!"
"Is it true? Tampered with the medication!"
"Don't you know?! She tampered with Megan's prenatal medication, almost causing her to miscarry! How dare you let her treat patients!!"
"Oh my god! This is really scary! I want to change doctors! I want a new attending physician!"
"I saw on the news that some doctors are retaliating against society, deliberately harming patients, are we safe?"
"I want to change my attending physician too!"
"Brooklyn, get out!"
"Get out!"
Brooklyn stood in the noisy ward, tightly gripping the medical records folder, her knuckles turning white.
In no time, the news spread to all the wards, tarnishing Brooklyn's reputation completely!
Seeing her being driven out of the ward, a nurse holding a medical record ran over, sneaked a glance at her, and whispered, "Dr. Mitchell, Ms. Rivera wants you to go to her office."
Although the internal medicine staff already despised Brooklyn, her imposing manner made them not dare to openly provoke her.
She pondered, 'Ms. Rivera? Did the news reach her ears so quickly?'
Brooklyn made a note and went to Piper's office. Standing outside the door, she saw Piper sitting leisurely in a chair, seemingly waiting for her.
"Made a mistake and too scared to come in? Our ace Dr. Mitchell." Piper's tone was full of sarcasm and disdain.
Brooklyn composed herself and stepped into the room, "Ms. Rivera, you wanted to see me."
Piper played with a pen in her hand, "I already know what happened just now, Dr. Mitchell. Because of you, the inpatient department is in chaos. As the deputy director, what do you think I should do?"
Brooklyn furrowed her brows.
Before she could explain, Piper coldly said, "Unfortunately, due to your heinous actions and the negative impact they have had on patients and the hospital, I, as the deputy director, inform you that you are fired."
Brooklyn's clear eyes took on a hint of mockery, "Then I can also regret to inform you that I was personally brought back from abroad by Mr. Clark, so you have no authority to fire me."
Piper raised an eyebrow and stood up slowly, her red high heels clicking on the floor. She circled around Brooklyn, sneering, "Dr. Mitchell, it seems you've forgotten that when I was hired, I was granted the authority to dismiss personnel. Firing you is like shooting fish in a barrel."
