Chapter 179 Driving Away Brooklyn
Before Zach could leave, Sebastian glanced at the clock on the wall and coolly requested, "Dr. Carter, please turn on the TV."
Brooklyn gritted her teeth and whispered, "Would you stop that?"
Sebastian replied with his eyesight, "What's the matter? Feeling sorry for him?"
Zach picked up the remote and turned on the TV, asking, "What channel do you want to watch?"
Sebastian casually replied, "Let's watch Aucester News."
Zach selected the channel, and the breaking news flashed on the screen. "In a surprising move today, the technology leader Lawson Group has been acquired by MBK Group. As of now, no one from Lawson Group has come forward to explain."
Brooklyn's eyes widened in surprise. "MBK Group acquired Lawson?"
Meanwhile, Sebastian, the CEO of MBK Group, was nonchalantly feeding Brooklyn in her hospital bed, saying, "Right, I didn't expect the reporters to catch on so quickly."
Furrowing his brow, Sebastian seemed troubled by the fact that he couldn't keep a low profile even when trying to do something discreet.
The second news report followed.
"After the acquisition of Lawson Group, a major car accident involving Lawson Group's Davon driving a Lamborghini was reported on the road. The Lamborghini crashed through the guardrail and exploded on the spot, resulting in the deaths of Davon and a woman. For more details, please see the on-site reporter's report..."
Brooklyn was dumbfounded!
Initially, she thought Sebastian's business competition had caused the acquisition of Lawson Group. But upon hearing about Davon's death, she couldn't help but make connections!
She had encountered Davon in the bar. Although there was no evidence of poisoning, the Davon whom Sebastian had reprimanded had significant suspicions.
Could it be that Davon was also involved in the kidnapping?
Brooklyn looked at Sebastian in astonishment. "You..."
How did he know it was Davon? Was he involved in Davon's death?
She had many questions, but Sebastian simply said, "Open your mouth. It's getting cold and won't taste good."
She obediently opened her mouth, forgetting the pain in her tongue, as she realized Davon was dead!
Zach, unaware of the kidnapping incident involving Brooklyn, as Sebastian had kept the news under wraps and oblivious to their past encounters, stood there like an outsider, unable to intervene in their conversation.
Brooklyn widened her eyes. "Was Davon's death really an accident?"
It couldn't be a mere coincidence. And why did Sebastian show Brooklyn this now if not to indicate that justice had been served?
Sebastian blew on the porridge. "You'd better ask Davon yourself. Here, take another bite."
She nearly finished the porridge, one spoonful after another.
Unable to bear it any longer, Zach left the room with a heavy heart.
As he heard Zach's footsteps fade, Sebastian set down the plate. His previous tender demeanor vanished, and his voice turned cold and domineering. "Feeling sorry?"
"For what? If Davon was truly the culprit, he deserved this."
Seeing the plate he had set down, Brooklyn felt herheart sink. It seemed like Sebastian was done being gentle to her the moment the audience left.
"You know I'm not talking about that. Dr. Carter is quite gentle with you!" Sebastian taunted sarcastically. "I can see you're dying to run into his arms right now!"
"I don't know what you mean, Sebastian. I still need to eat. It seems like you've lost your appetite, so why don't you leave?"
Brooklyn picked up the plate, her hands trembling.
She fought back tears fiercely, but as the plate neared her face, tears fell into the porridge.
'You ungrateful Brooklyn!' Sebastian thought.
"Davon was the one behind the poisoning and kidnapping," he suddenly changed the subject.
"Thank you..." Brooklyn said two words and finished the line in the heart. 'For desperately saving me.'
"Sebastian, the avenger of justice. You, a good citizen like this, should be listed among Aucester's top ten outstanding young people." She fought back tears as she drank the porridge, one sip after another.
"I got rid of him just because..." Sebastian hesitated.
'He hurt you!' Sebastian kept it inside.
"Just because I didn't like him. Who do you think I did it for?" He finished coldly and disdainfully, stood up, and said, "Since you're better now, you'll be discharged tomorrow and can go back to the villa."
"I won't go back. Sebastian, you and I are just actors playing the right roles in the right circumstances. I'll cooperate with any needs, but there's no need to live together. If I bother you, don't make yourself uncomfortable."
The monotonous ringtone interrupted their conversation, cutting off Sebastian's impending anger.
It was a call from Kingsley Villa that couldn't be ignored.
"Sebastian, what's going on!"
Jennifer's angry voice could be heard even through the phone.
"You left Megan, a pregnant woman, to run off and acquire Lawson Group! Do you even care about what I say?"
"I've made it clear to you that you don't need to rush your career now. Take care of Megan first!"
"And that Brooklyn, when are you planning to get rid of her?! I can't wait, Megan's belly can't wait, and the Kingsley family can't wait!"
The Kingsley family wanted Brooklyn out. Jennifer couldn't wait, and neither could they. Was that so?
