Chapter 289 Questioning Sebastian

The emergency treatment was still going down, and the doors to the three operating rooms were locked up tight.

After a bit, Kelly's folks showed up first. When Caleb saw Sebastian, he gave a nod and said, "Mr. Kingsley."

Sebastian nodded back, "Ms. Wilson's still in there."

Caleb wiped the sweat off his face and said, "Thanks, Mr. Kingsley, for saving my daughter."

"No need."

While they were talking, a big group of people came out of the elevator, and before they were visible, Karen's loud cries came through. "Megan! Megan!"

Sebastian frowned.

In no time, the area outside Megan's emergency room was packed with people.

Lawrence, Karen, Jennifer, along with assistants and drivers from both families, a total of eight people, made a dense crowd.

Caleb and his wife stood outside Kelly's emergency room, while Zach sat alone at Brooklyn's door, looking pretty lonely.

"Sebastian, what the heck happened? How could Megan get kidnapped?" Jennifer demanded from Sebastian.

Facing the elders and Jennifer, Sebastian stepped closer, feeling down. "It's still under investigation. The cops will give us answers."

Lawrence grabbed Sebastian by the collar, his eyes almost popping out as he warned, "If anything happens to Megan, I'll kill the culprit!"

'Is he gonna kill the culprit, or me?' Sebastian thought before he sneered, prying Lawrence's hand away, "Nothing's certain yet. Don't jump to conclusions."

Karen sobbed into Lawrence's arms, "Megan's pregnant. How could something horrible like this happen to a pregnant woman? Megan, my poor baby."

Jennifer quietly asked Sebastian, "How's the baby in Megan's belly? What did the doc say?"

Sebastian wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said, "We'll know soon."

Jennifer, worried about Sebastian and the baby in Megan's belly, glanced at the emergency room next door and coldly asked, "Is Brooklyn in there?"

Sebastian's eyes flared with anger and he said, "Jennifer, Brooklyn is my wife!"

Jennifer ignored him, directly ordering Dario, "What's the attitude? You're the CEO of MBK Group! Dario, what are you standing there for? Take him to change. The reporters are already at the door, and you want to face them in this rags?"

Sebastian walked to Brooklyn's emergency room door and asked, "Zach, can I trust you?"

Zach stood up from the bench and said, "Leave it to me."

As the CEO of MBK Group and the eldest son of the Kingsley family, Sebastian had a lot on his plate and reluctantly left the corridor with Dario after giving some instructions.

Zach coldly watched the crowd gathered outside Megan's room, feeling even more bitter as he thought, 'If I wasn't here, would Brooklyn really have no one to rely on? Her family ignores her safety and her only friend is next door. How does Brooklyn manage to live like this?'

Caleb nodded to Zach, "You must be Dr. Carter. Kelly's mentioned you a bunch of times."

"Yeah, that's me."

Caleb seemed to think of something, sighed, and didn't say more.

After a bit, Kelly was the first to be wheeled out, and Caleb followed the stretcher to the ward.

Jennifer shot Zach a cold look and sneered as she walked up to him, "Dr. Carter, you really care a lot about Brooklyn, huh?"

Zach bowed in greeting, "Dr. Mitchell is my colleague and my friend; it's the least I could do."

"I think it's more than that, isn't it?" Jennifer said.

'First face-to-face with Jennifer from the Kingsley clan. Gotta admit, she's a tough cookie—ruthless, cunning, and polished by years in high society. Simple-minded Brooklyn doesn't stand a chance against her,' Zach thought.

"What does Mrs. Kingsley want to say?" he asked.

Jennifer sneered, thinking he would get the hint.

After a while, Brooklyn was wheeled out, too. The doc said she was out of danger but still out cold and needed to be monitored.

As soon as Brooklyn was wheeled out, Karen rushed over and started cursing, "It's all because of her! Who would dare touch Megan with her status! Megan must have been dragged into this because of Brooklyn! That bitch!"

Zach shielded Brooklyn with his body, blocking Karen's claws, and said, "Mrs. Turner, please control yourself! Slander and defamation can have legal consequences!"

"Legal consequences! If anything happens to my daughter, I'll take her life!" Karen shouted.

Zach saw Jennifer standing elegantly and nobly to the side, keeping her dignified demeanor, like she was just an onlooker.

'The Kingsley family are rotten inside,' Zach thought.

"Mrs. Turner, stop!" Zach shouted as he grabbed Karen's wrist, restraining her.

Zach wheeled Brooklyn out of the corridor and into the elevator, leaving the ugly scene behind.

Karen wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes as she complained, "Jennifer, Sebastian humiliates Megan in front of reporters and guests, and now Brooklyn almost got Megan killed. Shouldn't the Kingsley family give us an explanation?"

Jennifer smiled calmly and said, "Have you forgotten what Brooklyn said? Why bother with a dying woman? Once she dies, the position of the Kingsley family's hostess will naturally be Megan's."

Her cunning eyes were filled with malice, hiding all her schemes behind a thin smile.

"Are you serious? What she said that day wasn't just an excuse for the media? She doesn't seem like dying to me," Lawrence asked.

Jennifer glanced at him and said, "The Turner family and the Kingsley family have decades of friendship. Do you think it will be ruined by Brooklyn? I have never acknowledged Brooklyn as the daughter-in-law of the Kingsley family."

Lawrence and Karen exchanged glances, and the three of them tacitly fell silent, leaving only a dark cloud of smoke rising from their feet, filling the corridor with a murky haze.

Dear CEO, Please Be Gentle!
