Chapter 114 Her Alluring Charm
Her wild and unrestrained cold laugh was surprisingly full of allure.
Sebastian was both furious and somewhat helpless. He thought, 'In three years, she has not only gained skills and courage but also become prickly.
Very well, I'll slowly pluck each thorn from her.'
Using provocation and sarcasm, she saved herself from physical pain. After his shower, Sebastian wrapped himself in a blanket and went into the bedroom, ignoring her completely.
This was the best she could come up with after racking her brains. If they continued to confront each other, she would surely run out of things to say.
Sleeping on the couch was no big deal; she wasn't that delicate.
But lying on the couch, she couldn't sleep at all. Fishing out the ring she had shamelessly picked up, Brooklyn smirked, thinking, 'Such a valuable thing! Of course, I have to keep it. When we divorced, it would be a great asset.'
However, thinking about the divorce, Brooklyn frowned again.
Thinking of the cocktails she had bought, she got up barefoot, opened the fridge, and took out two different bottles of cocktails, drinking several gulps straight from the bottle.
As she drank, she laughed, thinking, 'My heart?
'Of course, I have a heart. My entire heart has been with Sebastian from our first meeting until just now. Every heartbeat screamed my longing for him.
'The one without a heart is him!'
Brooklyn grabbed the bottle, her lips stained with the liquid. It was an alluring sight.
She thought, 'Sebastian, let's play a game. I don't believe I can't win your heart. Even if we divorce, I'll take your heart with me!'
'These five years, I've given my all, only to be met with his casual insult of bitch.
'Fine, I would let him have his wish, let him see how he would become addicted to my charm.'
After putting down the bottle, her face blushed from the low-alcohol drink. Hugging a pillow, Brooklyn fell into a deep sleep.
She wouldn't know what Sebastian's expression was like when he walked out of the bedroom in the middle of the night, stopped by the couch, and saw her flushed face in the moonlight.
She also wouldn't know how the blanket she had kicked off ended up being covered on her again.
The next morning, Brooklyn got up early, her head a bit dizzy. This time, she was really catching a cold.
The clothes on the balcony were already dry. She went back to the bathroom, changed into her clothes, and skillfully tied her hair back with a rubber band.
Brooklyn made a simple and light breakfast that looked delicious: golden fried eggs and a glass of milk. She elegantly placed the breakfast on the dining table.
The trash can had a discarded toothbrush packaging, indicating that Sebastian had found her spare toothbrush last night.
Brooklynp smirked as she slowly drank her milk.
Sebastian was highly capable, but he still had basic needs.
When he shed his pride, he would still get sick and hungry.
Brooklyn thought, 'You're so arrogant. Let's see if you dare to skip breakfast later.'
After finishing breakfast, Brooklyn took the spare key and left.
When Sebastian got up, Brooklyn was already gone, leaving only the lingering aroma of breakfast filling the small living room.
This scene made Sebastian frown.
He thought, 'Brooklyn left breakfast and just walked away?
'Brooklyn was actually so bold, daring to challenge his authority!'
"Dario, come over immediately."
At the hospital, Brooklyn changed into a brand-new white coat, her high heels clicking briskly as she walked down the corridor. It was as if the events of the past few days hadn't affected her at all. She was back to her serious work mode, looking very aloof and unapproachable.
"Dr. Mitchell."
She had just finished her rounds and was discussing a patient's treatment plan with her assistant when Zach came out of the elevator and called her.
Brooklyn turned and smiled at him, "Dr. Carter, what's up?"
The other doctors greeted Zach, who nodded symbolically, his gaze still on Brooklyn. "Faith's surgery was successful. Do you want to go see her?"
"Really?"
Brooklyn couldn't hide her instinctive joy.
"Yes, really. Faith was out of danger before I came to find you. Let's go see her together."
Zach's invitation was so natural. Though there was an unspoken intimacy, onlookers didn't find it strange. They only envied Brooklyn for quickly getting along with Zach.
In the ward, Faith lay quietly, her husband and mother by her side. They repeatedly thanked Zach and Brooklyn.
Brooklyn's professional reputation was steadily rising.
Brooklyn asked softly, "Dr. Carter, did you really promise her family that you wouldn't save her baby?"
This question stemmed from Faith's missing big belly. Brooklyn looked a bit sad. After all, that was a fully formed baby!
Seeing her suddenly tense expression, Zach smiled warmly, "I promised you I would save both her and her baby. How could I break my word?"
"Where's her baby?"
"Follow me."
A few minutes later, Brooklyn saw the baby in the incubator. The infant, who was born three months earlier, looked like he could be held in one hand. He was so small and adorable that just one look at him could soften one's heart.
Brooklyn leaned closer to the incubator, staring at the baby inside. With his fist clenched, his tiny hand moved gently as if he were still in his mommy's belly. Such a tender life, like a clear spring flowing through Brooklyn's parched heart, touching her deepest, softest spot.
Brooklyn couldn't help but place her hand on the glass, wrapping her fingers around the baby's through the barrier. "Baby, are you okay?"
Zach stood behind her, sensing her deep affection for the child. He smiled suddenly, "He's fine, just premature. He'll stay here for half a month, and then you can hold him."
"So amazing. Have you noticed how amazing life is? He will grow from something so small into an adult. It's truly amazing."
Brooklyn was filled with love for the child. She thought, 'How I wish I could have a child of my own, a child with Sebastian.
'Wait! Why am I thinking of him again?'
Brooklyn's love for the child deeply moved Zach. "You really love children. You'll definitely be a great mother someday."
"If I had my child, I would love her dearly." Brooklyn's gaze never left the baby as if he were hers.
"I love children, too. Having my own and watching them grow is a parent's greatest joy. I've always longed for that day."
Brooklyn nodded passionately. "Me too."
